Last week we played poorly in the first half and really well in the second half and I am curious as to whether taking Daw off at half time was the catalyst for our form turn around; as a lot here are contending a 2 tall forward line afforded the opportunity for Drew to get in more space and there fore improve his performance and kick goals or if it had more to do with Brad's address to the players at half time or (my personal theory) LT reminded them they were playing in the Icon jumper and their performance to that point was a disgrace or did LA's performance as a super sub lift our performance in an unprecedented way? It can't be a 2 tall forward line because we have added Tazza this week, taking 1 player off could hardly have caused that turn around so it can't b the Daw move and the stat's don't support LA having that kind of influence, so that leaves motivational factors being Brad's address or the Icon jumper and this week we won't be wearing the Icon so that can't be a factor again (if it ever was) that leaves Brad's motivational speech at half time as the factor that changed the game. I can only say that if this is the case then we may be in serious trouble tomorrow night as no team can rely on motivational speeches at half time in every game to get over the line. Hopefully Brad's speech has a long term effect (the rest of the season) and the boys can draw on their internal motivation and each other to find the will to contest and strive to play their best in every game spurred on by our leaders. This match against the Crows indeed shapes up as a barometer for where this group is at mentally and how we will fare or the rest of the season.

Which area are you better?
I would argue we are quite even in every area.

Jacobs has probably been the better ruckman this year.

A case could be made for our forwardline being a tad more damaging, but I would say fairly even across the ground, especially now that we are starting to get a few players back. The original post wasn't having a go at all. Just looking to partake in discussion with oppositions view coming into the game. :thumbsu:

In simple terms, you won both games last year, albeit we were right in it. We absolutely should have won the home game, and having started poorly in our away game, we still hit the lead early in the last IIRC, before running out of puff. This season so far, we are two games up on Adelaide, and are starting to click. Your home form has been better in the last few games, after the Sydney and Melbourne debacles, yet our away form has been outstanding so far this season with 3 wins out of 3 trips, which doesn't include Brisbane or GWS.

If this game was played in Melbourne (or Tassie) I would tip us by 20+ points. The fact it's in Adelaide changes things completely, and I would say as a neutral, I would probably tip Adelaide by a goal or two. But as a North supporter, I am hoping for another solid away performance, and I would say if we can play as well as we did in Sydney and Perth, we may well win this game.

Your advantage is possibly in your forward line, but we have a number of very good running players down there (Atley, Mullet, McDonald and Firrito) so if it's not marked by your talls, we may turn it into our advantage.

Midfield is pretty even, but your midfield has a couple of prime movers like Sloane and Dangerfield who, if shut down, would tip the scales in our favor IMO, as our midfield is a bit more even.

Our forward line hasn't clicked yet this season, yet it worked very well in the second half last week. Who knows if this was a turning point?

Sloane tore us a new hole last time. Smashed one out with a sledgehammer then chiselled and sandpapered the edges to really make it a complete job.
He and Danger must be given special attention, clearly.

By the way, both are Victorians, and unlike Danger who is on huge money, Sloane could well be targeted by Vic clubs I'd say.

Oh yeh.

Crows tend to have several players I enjoy watching. Except against us.

Sloane, the porp, Tex, Dangerfield, Talia are all quality players and the Crows on their day can play similar dynamic footy to us.

Very similar sides actually in terms of talent and (lack of) consistency. Hope we turn up to play this time. We've saved some of our most meandering football for Crow's SA games in the last decade.

I disagree - you have good midfield top end talent but lack the depth we have. Goldy is the equal of Jacobs - who has had a good year after a poor one last year. One very good back and forward in Talia and Walker.

We have clearly out performed the Crows in 2014. It we were even you would think that our performances would be even??

You have had 1 win againts a top 8 side - Pies
We have had 3 wins against top 8 sides - Port. Swans and Freo.

We have played 1 bottom 4 side - you have played 4 games against the 4 worst teams including a loss to the Dees.

This game is contest as you are playing at home.

2 games plus % with a harder draw does not put us on the same level as the Crows.

IMO

Sort of starting to clear up now.
Hopefully if there is any more rain tomorrow morning it's passed come game time.

"Meandering" is putting it kindly :)

We have been great in the wet - let it rain!!!

2 good things will come out of it.

1) We will be a better chance to win.

2) The feral crow supporters will get a wash.

I predict Dish won't kick a goal, so it had better be Taz:thumbsu:

Instead of getting getting joy from a 'nice surprise' when one of our players do something well, why don't you instead back them in and when they succeed you can wear it like a badge of honour? I can assure you that you would get more real joy that way.

Scattered showers tomorrow bloke.

I'd expect a couple during the game but nothing too large, probably end up being just greasy. Could favour our mids

I would say our midfield has good depth. It's just now well known in Victoria.

Goldy is a very good ruckman, but hasn't had as good a year Jacobs has had.

We have beaten two top 8 sides, not one.

I agree you have performed better then us so far this year tho, however I put a lot of early season form down to a huge injury list.

Maybe our midfield is not well know in SA.

Who are the key players that have missed weeks for the Crows? We have had a bad run as well. Maybe we have better depth.

Swallow, Wells, Tarrant, Thomas, Grima, Macmillan, Ziebell. Probably the worst injury record we had for a while.

This is such a pathetic excuse used by all interstate clubs.
Fox Footy shows all games, Adelaide games are on every week, Victorian footy lovers watch Adelaide games as much as they watch any other club that is not their own. You think because your club gets less time in the newspapers means we know less about them? Your midfield has elite top end talent in Sloane, Danger and Thompson, however it falls off quite dramatically. We have you covered in the midfield with Swallow, Ziebell, Cunnington, Greenwood, Boomer, Gibson and Bastinac.

Goldstein and Jacobs are pretty much on par, you can have the slight advantage there, he isn't that much better then him that it's going to really impact the game.

Tex is obviously a star, however Thompson is AA FB, and considering how high you seem to value AA selection, they are evenly matched. The remainder of your forward line pales in comparison to ours.

You have some good young running defenders in Smith and Jaensch, and probably one of your strongest points on the ground, however Mullett and Atley aren't that far behind.

This game will 100% be won in the midfield.
