Show me an example, and I'll eat my words.

I'm not saying he's a big game performer, I'm saying he plays with more passion on the big stage (i.e. AFL not VFL). He just looks sharper, gets more involved, celebrates more when he kicks the goals or when teammates kick the goals.

Davis out for Medhurst seems to be the only real answer to bringing medhurst in

Any other changes are gonna be tough calls for the kids possible confidence crushing perhaps and when they are performing that well the last thing we need is some crushed confidence

How long do we say “if you don’t perform”? For Christsakes he’s been on the list for 7 years and played nothing but rare cameos aside from half a season of decent footy last year. He already hasn’t performed for longer than he should have been allowed to and longer than MM has allowed anyone else to in his entire coaching career. There is probably a reason for that but I’m not touching it.

Look, I would be delighted if he was not dropped and he performed and somehow developed some consistency, get a kick in the wet and play well in big pressure games but IMO it is well beyond hoping for that. He just isn’t good enough. If we can get a return in trade week we should jump at it. I would rather have the young Richard be ineffective and develop him than the get what you expect middle aged Davis.

On the whole, You're probably going to be proven right about all that. If we had a time machine and could trade him 6 years ago, then byoody. As for the next round, he is on or near the chopping block no worries, & a straight swap for Medhurst is no drama, but Idunno Idunno. It certainly has taken him far too long to get to where he's at, and I'm glad there's obvoius pressure on his spot, but when he's on song he's pretty scintillating. I guess I don't want the selectors to be giving points for artistic impression, but geeez I like to watch him when he's on. Whether we're looking at top four or we're looking at "Leon for sale" in 08, I still would select him.

His best year was last year. It was nowhere near enough yet to repay the faith put in him, but there's a clear chance this year can be up there with last year, in which case he's safely in our top 15. He's still a gamble more than a sure thing, but he has the rare talent to be a top player. He's clearly missing about 6 other qualities needed to be a top player, sure, but IF he can put 5% more oomph into those deficiencies and not go walkabout so much, then he's well worth a spot.

If some youngster starts to 80% outshine him, then he's for Willy.

whats the obsession with egan? his face looks like bad luck, whenever he gets the ball its going to be close to a turn over, last year vs sydney, he had the ball 10 meters out or something, nearly shaved the post, scared the shit out of me

I don't think any shot at goal can beat Cameron Cloke's set shot against Sydney in 2004 (I think) at Telstra Stadium. Was about 20 metres out straight in front, he shanked it off his toe and somehow the square was left unguarded so it went through for a goal.

Bucks wont be ready yet and there is no real need to rush him in yet.

In: Medhurst

Out: Dick

Its a very tough call and it will be interesting to see when Holland, Lonie and Bucks return who makes way for them (assuming no further injuries).

Jabso, please don't pigeon hole players before they have even played a game. I'm sure Goldsack has the ability to play wing, rotate through the middle and up forward.

If his form at Williamstown continues in the same vein, Malthouse can't ignore him.

Agreed from what I've seen of Goldsack he has shown alot more than cox ever did in his willy games (as in cox never really dominated a game just showed good form and nice run off hb) and he (Cox) has been great since coming into the pies line up.

Not a knock on cox more a fact of how well the golden one played he looked very assured to me jabso.

for me ins will be : meddy , wellingham and goldsack

outs : D!ck , Toovey , Cox not on form more on that they will come back in later in the year and we need to blood a few who are in form to give them a taste of it.

Cox was pretty awful last year for Willy, except some nice late form. His improvement has been extraordinary. In the Willy vs. Weribee game Cox was the dominant player on the ground.

I agree with giving the young fellas a rest. Traditionally if they play all year by the end they'll be gone, so why not give them a rest in a lower intensity game? What it does is gives some other kids the opportunity (only as long as they deserve it, mind you) and then if we're in the mix at the business end, we can pick the three best young kids from a pool of 5 or 6 who are in the best shape, fit our needs etc.

Dropping these kids ins't going to kill their confidence, young players have been getting dropped when they've played OK for 100 years of footy.

lot of suggestions here about blooding even more new players against Adelaide. It won't happen, I think will be only one change Medders for Dick.

It is only round six plenty of time to blood more young players

i agree we need hard mature bodies to play adelaide at adelaide

We're struggling to fill a team, can we do the under 11's thing and borrow some of your players for the night?

Heath Shaw, Thomas, Rocca, Pendles all will be fine by us. :D :p

Out of curiousity, how many would you seriously consider to be walk up starters?
Thats not being a smartass either, just generally curious?

it's going to very interesting in rnd 7 when Dutchy can come back. I don't think anyone should be dropped this week every1 was deserving. I think Toovey might be unluckily dropped for Meds (if fit) but hey I think his a future player with the retirements of Wakes and Presti coming soon. Leon is unfortunately a possibility to be dropped too.
Are you on crazy pills too AWA?! That was just what I was thinking, well MM is on this inspirational roll why not just leave it and see what happens? Match ups? There has to be enough across all departments to cover Adelaide, why chase our tails. Seriously, can anyone remember when the last time the team wasn't changed? This is not a smart arse question, when was the last time injuries/form/matchups didn't mean a CFC team had to be changed? I would fart around on the net myself, but where I work ATM that would take me about 3 days, and I know there are bigger and smarter footy brains out there.
