Out of curiousity, how many would you seriously consider to be walk up starters?
Thats not being a smartass either, just generally curious?

IMO: Hentschell, Roo, Reilly, Johncock and Burton. Those 5 would be the no debate whatsoever, EVER guys. Then arguments could be made against Bode, McGregor, Biglands but they would almost definetely be in.
Then the problem is that our second choice players are down too, Massie and Porplyzia are both always bordering on selection and Meesen or Maric(just played a half in the ressies this weekend) were expected to be our second ruck behind Hudson this year. Campbell, Gill and Archard were all drafted as mature age as safety if things went pear shaped. Pity they got injured.

The ones in bold would be in our best 22 or pushing very close for selection if fit and playing well.

F: Bode - Hentschel - Ricciuto
HF: Welsh - Sellar - Gill
C: Mackay - Reilly - Porplyzia
HB: Johncock - McGregor - Massie
B: McIntrye - Biglands - Campbell

R: Meesen - Archard - Burton

Most of those missing players are dime-a-dozen second tier players.

Riccuitto is a big loss but at his age getting him on the park is a bonus, like Buckley for Collingwood
Johncock's a big loss
Biglands is a quality second ruck type, and you miss him with Clarke "retired".
Burton - is he even injured?

Reilly and Hentschell are ok players, but you cant complain about Henschell as you knew at the start of the season you would not have him for at least two years.

You can't put Hentschel the 'oh you knew you weren't going to have him' list and have Biglands on the yes you miss him list. Hentschel was our highest goal kicker last year, is one of those tall forwards that is actually very good on the ground. We are missing him greatly in our structure this year and with McGregor out as well it means that Stevens who played very well last year at CHB has had to be moved up forward.

Reilly and Thompson are the two that are our main midfielders this year as Goodwin and Edwards are relegated to playing on the wing, up forward and down back with only cameos in the midfield. Reilly has been performing very consistently this season and last season he was consistently in the side when we had our full strength midfield (minus Roo). he is more than a handy player but suffers from the perception that he isn't that good as he plays for Adelaide.

Burton wrenched his knee in the Essendon game, missed the Bulldogs game and came back in against Sydney, he appeared to wrench it again against Freo.

Oh and we don't have 'second-tier' players at Adelaide, we have the Backbone group and when they come into the side they are expected to perform at the same level as everyone else.

The only ones you're really missing are hentschel and johncock.

The rest are nothing special and the sniper riccuito is finished.:)

I agree with that, your depth is good, albeit with more dime-a-dozen players. Its all the more reason not to use injuries as an excuse, because you have other players to step up.

Your right we can't use Injuries as an excuse, I'm not, if we lose it's our own fault besides all clubs have injuries it just feels like down at Adelaide there are just so many & that were're struggling to fill a team that's pretty much it, I doubt Adelaide supporters would blame a loss soley on injuries but I'm not expecting loss at this point, see ya at the game guys! Goodluck!

There are some very good players on that list, I think some of the Pies supporters in this thread are not giving Adelaide enough credit.

I hate to say this, but I agree with a Magpies supporter (forgive me!) LOL jkin

We can't make excuses because of injuries but if you have 18 men injured and more than 10 or so would be walk up starters for your side you've got to wonder why people can't see this. But I think we can use it as an excuse if we ever end up have less than 25 players this season (28 atm)

Oh well good luck for the game on the weekend, but I hope we win still.

First of all , good to see the adelaide supporters on here and everyone talking constructive instead of usual crap sniping

I am confident about saturday night, except that Adelaide are the most even team - you never notice their in's and out's , they follow the plan ( a good one)

We need to do something and thatv thing is 'pressure' the cornerstone of all our victories at AAMI

Oh and one more thing - yes Leon is struggling but he always plays best away ie AAMI , Subiaco , Telstra - bit like George Hogg , just trot him out evey four years

i dont know why everyone is so preoccuped with medhurst. he needs to earn his place in the team. i wouldnt make to many changes at all. would drop dick for maybe egan or lonie

Four goals in his last game not good enough?
He should come straight back in, no doubt about that. Just a question of whom to drop.
Surely it is out of Dick and Davis, and i'd go with Dick, purely on the basis that Leon must realise he has to do something now to keep his place in the team, and i reckon he might go ok over there.

if we play one on one footy like we did the bombers i reckon we've got a chance. If we keep up the awesome tackling and pressure seen on Anzac Day Ill be pretty happy.

Hopefully medders and didak dont get in each others way as well :)

Leon hasn't done much to deserve his side in the team, except for tackle and kick one beauty of a goal.

We ALL love Medhurst, he needs to be in the team for our enjoyment :)
