Changes vs Adelaide.

"Despite how hard you try to convince yourself otherwise, Henry has been quite good this season and would not surprise me at all if he was in the top 10 in our B&F." (Forget the bolded bit before, although I suspect most known what I meant anyway)

I think it's a perfectly fair comparison actually. Like Slatts, Lloyd has had some good games and some bad games this season. Yet only one is a candidate for being dropped. However, let's put up a new comparison. Brent Stanton. He got killed by Ablett yestreday too. And has been in worse form over the past 3 weeks. Shall we drop him for say, Thomas German? He's young and had a good for Bendigo yestreday!

Watson hasn't got the pace for our gameplay either. DROP HIM. Believe it or not, we can not have 22 players who can 100 meters in 11 seconds. Players who are slow can still play in our gameplay you know? Slatts has a role in our team. To stop the player he is playing on. He failed yestreday. He has succeeded more times than he has failed this year. And Slatts' kicking has been very good this year - compared to last year anyway.

Hasn't improved much? Compared to last season Henry has improved shitloads. We don't pick players because they "showed a bit" non because he is younger. I refer you to the Stanton comparison.

I'm bemused by your entire logic, and amused that I haven't seen logic until this week. If you seriously think Tyson Slattery will do a better job than Henry, then expect to be disappointed. Henry isn't gonna play against Steve Johnson every week you know?

You have got be to kidding.....

Slattery shouldn't be playing on a guy like Steve Johnson in the first place. Slatts was always going to get beaten by Johnson, espeically in marking situations.
Slatts value comes from keeping the small crumbing fowards quiet.

What you say is true, but the problem is he can only play on small crumming forwards if they are not to quick, which means there is hardly ever a good match up for him.

Looks like Laycock is out for the season.
We would need to bring in Lucas, play him at CHB and move ($2) Hooker into the ruck to help out paddy!!

Yeh thats seems likely or even give Bock a shot his taller enough his weight is a worry though

Which means we should **** him off all together doesn't it?

What good is Slattery for? Not alot..

Daniher won't play this week. Knights has already ruled that out. Seems like they are teaching Darcy a lesson Bachar Houli style in how to play defense. Obviously the incident against Hale in that Round 4 game against the Roos has not fully hit home for Darcy yet.

I would like to see him out there (especially given that Hooker is probably going to have to play ruck) but I back Knights' stance and development of our younger players.

Given that Adelaide do not have a massive forward line, I feel McPhee will be forced to play a negating role in defence this week in addition to Pears. This means Monfries and Skipworth must have massive games across half forward to provide us with the marking option (given that Neagle and Lloyd are faced with Rutten and Bock).

It's worth noting that if Dempsey comes back into the side we will still be one defender up on last week which is good news (even allowing for Hooker to play periods in the ruck).

So...

Ins: Dempsey, Prismall

Outs: Bellchambers, Lonergan

Skipworth keeps his spot due to Daniher missing the match and the due to the inclusion of Prismall as a midfielder over Lonergan.

Lucas is in the mix but he won't be considered for ruck as Knights will only bring him in as a tall forward. I can't see any other options for the ruck except for maybe Jobe Watson who would essentially play as an onballer and contest occasionally around the ground (when McVeigh and Prismall are on ball).

The Lovett-Murray suspension is getting worse and worse each week.

Ins - dempsey, prismall, daniher/lucas

Outs - t-bell, jetta, houli/lonergan

Drop our best player from last week

What happens if Dempsey doesnt come up?

Daniher wont come back in, and Lucas may not get called either, so Jetta may be safe, also.

Bellchambers out for Prismall.

Jetta out for Dempsey if at all.

thats all... we played the best team in the comp... so no need for knee jerk reactions.

Hooker to play in ruck when not down back.

Pears to Walker
Mcphee to Porplezia
Dempsey to Knights
Monfries to Mcleod
Hocking to Thompson

thats about all I would really hope for. Knights has kicked 11 goals in 3 weeks playing across HG and through the midfield, so we really need to be on our game here.

Have high hopes for Neagle this week. was really impressed by his work rate, he pursued the ball carier in his area right till it was eventually cleared, right through till the last siren, he continues to present, and am hoping for a breakout game from him really soon.

and its not a knee-jerk reaction either - h.slattery was shithouse in R1 against port adelaide

Motlop dominated in the first, quiet in the second.
Ebert quiet in the first, dominated in the second.

Guess who Slats' opponent was at each time.

I'll give you a clue - he didn't start on Motlop.

You have got be to kidding.....

He is.:p

Swap Macca with Dangerfield or Stevens and Thompson with Tippett and that is more our forward line :thumbsu:

wasnt saying that is your forward line champ, was just assuming where each player was going to play,

Mcleod HBF, Monfries to play a defensive HF role on him, and Hocking to follow Thomspon through the midfield and even up forward, as he is our lockdown player.

Ok no worries ;)

Changing ruckman in defence doesn't work - look at Ryder in Round 1.

I am thinking that if Lucas is recalled - he may as well support Ryder in the ruck.

He will get the ball around the ground and may snag a goal or two.

ins: lucas/daniher, prismall, dempsey

outs: belly c, skipworth, slattery

tall for tall and smalls for fitter, more offensively effective smalls.

p.s. here's hoping pris can have a muston like comeback

I reckon they will wait till after the split round to bring in prismall...let him get some serious match fitness before he hits the big league again.

Ade are quite a tall side so with Bellchambers out, I would want a tall in. It has to be Lucas if Daniher isn't up to it.

I'd be happy if we didn't go tall and just ran right past their height. I think that even if we're a bit shorter, our mediums and talls combined can handle their talls, and we'll rip them apart with pace. That said, I would love Lucas back in anyway.

IN: Dempsey, Prismall, Lucas, Reimers
OUT: Bellchambers (inj), Jetta (omit), Zaharakis (rest), Lonergan/Skipworth/Slattery (omit)

Reimers and Dempsey cover the pace we lose with Jetta and Zaka. Prismall is hopefully and improvement on either Skipworth or Lonergan, or we can shuffle around and replace Slattery. Lucas in to back up Ryder around the ground in the ruck (will help bring him in to the game) and spend most of his time forward.

I can't see Slattery getting dropped. His form has been patchy but the backline is settled when he's playing and I can;t see the selectors changing this.

Dempsey sounds like he will be back which will make the backline more solid.

Lucas is a slight chance of coming back in depending on how we plan to tackle the Crows but this could be a risk.

I'd love to see Prismall come in but it wouldn;t suprise me at all if he doesn;t until after mid season break. If he does he will replace one of the following - Skipworth (Doubtful) Longergan, Jetta or Zaharakis (Only if he needs to be rested).

Daniher is the only other player I can see coming back in if they decide to play Hooker in the ruck.
