Changes vs Adelaide.

Crows are so overated it's not funny.

Seems to me you're the pot calling our kettle black. If that's the case, what does it say about Carlton and Hawthorn. Also who is doing the overrating? All the Melbourne media has touted us to miss the top 8 this year. How does that make us overrated? Pretty ignorant comment IMO.

In my humble opinion it would seem that your biggest problem this week will be in the tall department. Seems like all your big men are down this week which leaves Ryder to do the lone hand again - with very little back up. What does this mean? Well it means that Moran will jump into Ryder ALL day, and give his ribs a little tickle. I'm interested in who you have got to help him out and where will they come from? If you take a tall off Tippett, who will match up on him?

I think the 'overrated' Crows have a genuine chance this weekend.

Ryder rucked all day against Collingwood and did an alright job.:o

He defineitely had one out the box on that day. Collingwood tend to play outside a lot which then gives them more space to run and work, which then in turn allowed Ryder to use that space and his athleticism as well. In the past few weeks Adelaide has been playing a far more disciplined zone, keeping it nice a tight and reducing the space for the opposition. I think Ryder and the Bombers will find it harder to run the lines this week.

Obviously I stand to be corrected on this.

I'd love to see Prismall come in but it wouldn;t suprise me at all if he doesn;t until after mid season break.

Hehe nice to see there is someone else in this world that always hits the ; key instead of the ' key besides me :thumbsu:

Anyway, if Prismall is ready, I would like to see him play this week because of the break between playing Adelaide and Melbourne.

Dempsey is the only player I expect would come in.
And Bellchambers is def. out.

INS: Dempsey, Prismall (hoping anyway)
OUTS: Bellchambers, Skipworth/Lonergan (only if Pris comes in)

I hate making these predictions! :o

Don't let that comment reflect on the rest of us. I think it's safe to say a lot of us rate the Crows enough to be worried about this weekend. In my opinion, we couldn't have played your mob at a worse time. Having said that, I'm always confident in my own side :thumbsu:

Why do alot of people want Zaka out? He is a good young midfielder thats sneaking forward in open space and having multiple set shots at goal. I want him to stay in the team as he will be a great player for us.

And those people that keep putting skippy in the OUTS this week are mistaking, his gonna play his 50th game againts his old squad, so they wont drop him.

INS - Demsey & Prizza.
OUTS - T-bell & Jetta.

Maybe, but the only way we'll be worse off than the last little while is Bellchambers, who personally I would've rather had been omitted earlier. So yeah, may be arguably our biggest problem, but we've had the same problem for a while now, and we may even be bringing Lucas back in.

Someone will back him up for sure. People are saying Hooker or Lucas are the most likely.

McPhee probably to take over when Hooker moves off whoever he's marking.

Actually we've been ripped apart by people running down the vacant wings this year, it hasn't been to our favour. Our pace and handballing is probably better suited to combat the zone, although if it is heaps well drilled and kept tight, and you can shift around to interrupt our run, then it may actually be a good strategy.

FWIW, I think it will be a very tough game and I am having a very tough time tipping.

He may need a rest, although the split round is coming up anyway.

And btw, it's spelt "sneaking."

Very good points. Adelaides game plan worries me. I thought this prior to the last 2 weeks. Essendon are going to struggle if Adelaide can maintain a similiar zone to the last few weeks. I honestly think the game will be won early. If Essendon can work hard to break Adelaides lines it may unsettle them and throw them off their game, on the other hand if Adelaide can remain tight and stiffle Essendons run i can see us struggling to score.

This is a massive 8 point game and it is anyones game as far as im concerned. Im slithly leaning towards the Bombers but this is only because of home ground advamtage. It should be a ripper.

The ins/outs for both teams are going to be very important this week. Dempsey will add some run but who do they bring in for Belly? Ideally we would have Hooker pinch hitting in the ruck but it is unlikely given the fact that Adelaide will stretch the dons up forward with their talls.

So many questions to ponder.

I don't think that the game will be won or lost because of the backline and the Adelaide talls. It will come down to whether or not our confidence is up enough to run.

Adelaide like St Kilda and Hawthorn tend to zone a lot meaning that there will be space to run.

For this reason only minimal changes:

  1. Lucas for Bellchambers. We could do with the extra class, and Lucas started his career rotating in the ruck. I also wouldn't ask Ryder to ruck alone against Maric. Maric is totally underrated and when I have watched him this year is physical all day unlike Josh Fraser.
  2. Dempsey for Slattery if Slattery is injureed with Hocking to take the Slattery role even though he was belted last week when down back.

I don't want Hooker taken from defence at this stage because it is not absolutely necessary. Hooker will be no better in the Ruck than Lucas.

Since Zaharakis' debut, he really hasn't done all that much. Hes has his good moments here and there but overall, i think he may need this week to get his form back up in the VFL.

Plus, it's his first year and with a young body, he will tire as the year goes on. A rest will do him no harm.

Slatts has injured his hammy.

I'd imagine his namesake would be the best placed to be his replacement. We don't really have another lock down small defender on our list. I like the look of Tyson, I think he could be one like Welsh that will never dominate in the VFL and truly earn his spot, but will come in and hold his own at AFL level.

It's fair to say that if Atkinson doesn't get a game now, then he is in some trouble.

Not necessarily. I would say Atkinson is fighting with the likes of Dempseyy, Houli, Quinn and Nash for a spot. Slattery would be fighting with Myers, Welsh, Daniher etc for a spot.

If Slatts is to miss, I see Myers as the perfect replacement.

ins: prismall, dempsey, lucas/daniher

out: jetta bellchambers slattery

on the news yesterday they said wesh and fletcher will return after the split round, hopefully reimers will be back in the side soon :)

Zaharakis has been more than servicable in his first season.
He kicked three goals against Richmond and the Collingwood winner
He also kicked 2.4 against Hawthorn
To say that he hasn't done much since his debut is pretty silly

A bit harsh. He's form has been a bit patchy but he had very good games
against Hawthorn and Richmond and kicked the winner against Collingwood. His first game was in the midfield where he dominated but since then he has been playing as a lead up forward and doing a pretty good job.

Ins from:

Prismall (very likely), Dempsey, Fletcher (if back to full training), Myers, Lucas.

Outs from:

Bellchambers (inj), Slattery (inj?), Lonergan, Skipworth, Jetta (I'd like to see Jetta stay, though).

Up to 4 changes this week I expect.

Surely he's not ready yet??

Not entirely sure. Supposedly he trained fully this week. However given his age and importance it's likely he'll probably come back next match, not this one.

Supposedly Reimers is a chance, according to Knights. If I had to guess the changes I'd expect I'll say:

In: Prismall, Dempsey, Lucas
Out: Bellchambers, Slattery, Lonergan

ADELAIDE coach Neil Craig believes Essendon’s undermanned ruck department could pose a genuine threat when the two sides do battle at Docklands on Sunday.

The Bombers, already without lead ruckman David Hille for the season, were dealt a double blow on the weekend losing emerging teenager Tom Bellchambers (knee) and also pinch-hitting big man Scott Laycock (foot) to injury.
