This is Bailey's pivitol moment

... as above, that's an over-the-top remark ... which has nothing to do with the reality of Bailey's (or Davey's) situation.

Selection. Difficult. Minimal changes - there have been enough already, and it's obvious the boys are struggling to keep up. People should remember the word that goes with our mantra of "getting games into the kids" - together.

There are no short-term solutions, and very hard to see how throwing underdone novices like Strauss and Blease to the lions is going to help. Howe maybe, but it's down back we need reinforcements.

Ahhhh, this thread again. You can't make wholesale changes with our injuries and mortonman has the best line up, including Davey in the forward line.

I really dont care who is dropped.

Would like to see Blease, Howe and Gawn get a game though.

Davey deserves to be dropped but wont.

As mentioned put him in forward line if he's going to play and tell him to just ****ing tackle, like the old days.

Some people on here want to play three new players...we are probably gonna lose but I don't want to lose by over 100 points.

Bring in Bennell for Tappy and Howe for Juice-how this guy is still on the list is beyond me. He is not our future so stop playing this dud.

Hey guys,

Is Robbie Campbell any chance to get a look in at the selection table this week or shortly thereafter? Usually I get along to a fair few Scorpions games but haven't had the opportunity to this year, so I've got no idea how he has been traveling. I'd think his only chance would be while Jamar was still missing, especially as you guys are coming up against some quality ruckmen in the next 2-3 weeks.

I'd be happy to drop Davey if we had a few more players to choose from. Unfortunately with our mounting injury list, we don't have the luxury of dropping someone with his experience.
I'm liking this idea of starting Davey off as the sub. Keep him hungry for a couple of quarters, then unleash him when the opposition are getting tired.

He's been injured, played his first match 2 weeks ago - half a game for Casey reserves. May not be ready for senior footy just yet, given the length of time he's been away from AFL level football.
I'd like to see him out there.

Think Robbie Campbell will come into the equation in the 2nd half of the season!
Will be a welcome addition to the team!:thumbsu:

It won't make any difference to the result but Davey must be sent to Casey and why not give Howe or someone else a go.
We are not in any danger of making the eight / winning so lets try a kid.
At least reward the effort being showed at Casey.

Bate MUST be dropped. Being hopeless is one thing but that being coupled with not being prepared to work hard makes it 10 times worse. I think Newton will be saved by the lack of ruck support for Martin, but I'd love to see Howe play in his place otherwise - looks very versatile and deserves a game. Davey to play forward and sometimes out of the goal square.

Out: Bate, Tapscott (inj)
In: Bennell, Blease

What on earth has Bennell done to deserve selection, he has been ordinary all year, then has a shocker vs north and not played since.
What has he done to deserve a spot.
Give someone a chance who is putting in at Casey not an outside receiver with little or no form.

Bennell to go back and be given a job on Jeffey Gartlett, Bartram to Betts. I liked Joel Mac playing Half forward, maybe we can keep him there all game this week.

You and Bing have lost the plot. Supporters like you allow mediocrity to thrive. What Davey done on the weekend was 50 million times worse than anything Moloney has done. He shouldn't be in the leadership and he shouldn't be in the side.

If the club do nothing to Davey and allow him to get away it and we get a belting, Bailey is 100% finished, needs to resign immediately.

Davey will have a shocker if he plays against Carlton. There are 2 players that embarass him year in and year out one is Jones, the other is Carrazzo.

On the 3 kids playing in the backline, it needs to be done. Blease needs to give us run and you tell me who the hell we gonna play on Garlett, Betts and Judd, Bartram can't play on all 3. Bartram on Judd, Strauss on Betts and Nicholson on Garlett.

This club would never improve if they they had softies like you on the selection panel. This is why we haven't improved this year constant short sighted decisions. Only 2 debutants this year, not good enough considering how pathetic we have been this year.

The club thought our time was now, they were wrong. Time to go back to what Bailey was about and that's developing kids.

If I was Bailey I'd be playing my strongest team this week and telling your boys its the biggest chance of a win for your next month.

Jamar out won't hurt you this week as Kreuzer is still out, and Warnock is likely to miss due to concussion. This means either Hampson or O'Hailpin will be playing 1st ruck!

My Blue-boys are at their most vulnerable now, and most of our supporters know it. IF Judd plays, he will be underdone. Curnow is still out with injury too. We're still missing our 1st choice CHB and CHF (Bower/Hendo), and it's a mystery to me where Houlihan and Lucas have been.

If Judd misses, the game could be closer than many on here expect!

I think you're missing the point. I'm sure there are plenty of supporters that want 5 changes or more even, but they know it won't happen.

So with this knowledge & using some basic common sense, people try to predict what changes are likely & then throw up names for players they'd like to see come in. Lots of poster have put up a side in the last few weeks, then put a side note in their post saying we should drop Davey but that they don't think/know it won't happen.

Just like everyone replying to your post knows we won't make 5 or even 4 unforced changes & even if we did we definitely won't play 4 debutantes & a guy who has 2 games experience as those 5 ins. Maybe what you are saying makes sense, but it WILL NOT HAPPEN. Maybe it should, but it won't. This is not complacency or allowing mediocrity to thrive, it's reality. Not just for Bailey or MFC, but in the AFL, it just won't happen.

Indeed, it won't happen because we would lose by 150 points. You need to let the players gel etc.

I am not going to argue though, it's not worth the time.

Article

MELBOURNE defender Jared Rivers has flagged promotions for youngsters Sam Blease and James Strauss to face Carlton.

Not much to the article- the headline the HUN went with a little sensationalised (who woulda thought?). Rivers mentions Blease and Strauss as being in form and a possibility to play. Then the bi-weekly 'we need to lift, play four quarter football etc'...

Rubbish article seeing as they've got a major fact wrong & said we've only won 2 games + the draw. :thumbsd:

But in saying that, recent times where players mention guys who are close to getting a game seemed to have been semi accurate, as in only mentioning this because he's heard a name in selection discussions or chatting to a coach. I'm going with Blease in this week

How wrong could they really be this time? We hardly have the world to choose from at this stage, so chances are one of them will get a game this week. Still, typical gutter journalism from the HUN.

Were you one of the people who posted under the article correcting them? :p

Yeah gotta agree- Blease in this week must be a fair chance...

Surely we won't be making wholesale changes this week. And no way we will be introducing more than 1 new player this week. Would love to see Gawn, Howe and Blease get a go, but there is no way we are going to introduce them all in the same week!

IN
Bennell
Blease

OUT
Tapscott
Davey

I don't think Davey will be dropped, but he should be. He's been shocking this year and it's time to make an example of one of our leaders who are under performing. Bennell is a likely replacement with as much dash.

Tapscott out injured, so would love to see Blease come in to replace him. Lets give the kid a taste and see what he's got on the big stage! What have we seriously got to lose?

I wouldn't make any other changes purely on the injuries we have. Martin is doing a great job competing in the ruck, and as much as we all hate Newton, we need a back up ruck, so he's it until Jamar is back fit!

Bate gets another week to prove himself before Dunn returns(possibly). JMac is the only other player I would consider dropping purely for match up reasons. I'm not sure who he'll go to??? Carlton rely heavily on there small forwards and he can't play forward...
