afl.com.au said:In the words of backline coach Troy Chaplin, former rookie Josh Wagner has been the Demons' "most consistent" defender over the first five matches of the season. Wagner's ability to play on both tall and small players makes him a versatile option for coach Simon Goodwin. Wagner has the speed and agility to match it with the goalsneaks while, at 189cm, he can also match it with some of the competition's heavyweights and hold his own in marking contests. With the Demons committed to playing a high and aggressive defensive press, Melbourne's coaching staff are fans of having a player like Wagner who can read the ball and position himself accordingly. As Chaplin puts it, Wagner is a player who does not get the plaudits he sometimes deserves: "A lot of people probably don’t realise what he does, because it doesn't always come down to stats. The way we want to play and the system – he hasn't let us down at all." – Ben Guthrie

I guess Tom is the backup planI said it yesterday and final changes hasn't changed my mind think we are 1 key back short, So Lever or Hibberd are playing as our number 2 Key Def. And if Daniher gets on top of Oscar we have no back up plan.

Weid and Hogan forward, TOMacs down back?
He might be the first levitating forward in the AFL. We’re breaking new ground.Gonna be interesting to see how TMac performs while he's off legs. Maybe he'll flail around on the etihad surface like Lieutenant Dan until he earns himself a pity free
Definitely, but that's why he's insurance. At this stage, as we have always done, we will back Oscar as hard as we can.I just can't see Tom playing down back all his training been up Fwd he and the club have said he will play Forward. So can't see his 1st game he plays he will play down back.
Why are you supporting that rapist scumbag though?

So that's a yes?
Was thinking the same thing, I just got to the point where I didn't mind him in the side. He's not a big loss, but still unlucky.Never ever thought I'd say this but Wagner is a bit stiff to be dropped (though I'm not hugely complaining)
I understand the angst over not playing Brayshaw. Pedo not so much.
Really like these changes. Can't wait to see TMac link up with Hoges
You seem so keen on posting here so I'll humour you. If we win, you change your avatar to a needle and your sig to 'drug cheat and proud' and it stands for 7 months
Maybe he knew neither would play and just wanted to troll this board. We have plenty of players who can do what Brayshaw does - he's one of many possible midfield rotations. Picking someone who provides a target up front and can give Gawn a chop out in the ruck is rarer.
I can understand him not getting picked, but Tim Smith - who appears to be a medium-sized bucket of nothing special - being ahead of him in the pecking order is perplexing.
If i was coaching i'd direct my trolling at the LandMaybe he knew neither would play and just wanted to troll this board.
