Changes vs Bombers?

I reckon that story took a bit of the gloss off BF for some

Yes agree,

Splatboy as Thy calls him.

Anyway, I don;t think I could stand loosing to the Dirty Dons again...

And yet Carrazzo is still our best tagger and still in our best 22. It makes no sense to drop him for a worse player.

That's a real worry if you are right there cos he cops some real beltings, Joseph is a better tagger, for some reason though he's not being played as one.

I want to keep Hammo in for his development but I want Sauce in for Hille.
Emu and Hendo are way out of form but Carlos was dreadful v Willie so let's not panic. Hopefully Armie can come in but it may be for Juddy - no matter what the game situation is, we must have run from the backline. I would like Ratts or the back coach to take stats on run pasts - make it part of their mindset. Hoops has been out a couple now and would need to have a big week on the track.

In: Army Sauce Mitch
Out: Juddy ? ? (Carrot and Scotty might shake the tree)

If Ratts opts for hardness I just remembered Joey - one of the few ok v Willie a couple of weeks back and will give his all - so add him to my changes :)

ps I have heard some compelling reasons to give Carlos another go too (and simple forward instructions)

no Armfield for Joseph?

Play Gibbs in midfield. Bring back Robbo and Armfield (aka bodyfelt) if fit. They're not most skillful but they've got stones and can feed the ball for players like Judd to run and carry.
Get the forward structure right and don't just bomb to 5 foot 10 guys.
Improve the forward defensive pressure so they don't get killed on the rebound like usual.
How about playing 'junk' Murph in the forward line since he is a proven goal kicker, and playing the speedsters furher up the ground. His interrupted pre-season seems to be telling might be better suited there.
Only about 3-4 AFL cliches in this post.

Blues will respond to criticism, says Ratten

CARLTON coach Brett Ratten is confident his players will use Friday night’s clash against Essendon to respond to the stinging criticism he handed out after last week’s disappointing loss to Collingwood.

The coach questioned the hardness of his charges following the 48-point defeat and re-affirmed a laser-like focus on contested football in a “healthy discussion” in the aftermath.

“We talked about our response... the group understands fully where we sit. Only our actions can do the talking now,” Ratten said from Visy Park on Wednesday.

I actually liked what ratten said after the game. But why wait all this time to make such a statement. Why not after the freo game or North game. IT just shows me that our club are over the place, to me they are inconsistent in thought patterns.

In my opinion our failures over the last 2 months are areflection of the whole club from the boot studder up!!

this is my selected side for the essendon match, its hard to make changes but it has to be done!

doubt Ellard would get dropped, while Johnson stays in.

Hendo is vital to structure so cannot see him going out.

Also like the target Hampson provides up forward, could really stretch the Dons' backline this week

Little change there TG and with Carrots being media spokesperson - I dont think Ratts is likely to drop him

We're supposed to pick Carrazzo because he's good in front of the camera?

I guess St Kilda dropped Dal Santo because he has a lisp.

AC's man was nearly BOG.

Doesn't deserve another game until he starts winning his own ball and doing the one per centers.

Tag Watson, go head to head with the rest.

Should have done that last week because Swan was always going to find the ball.

What ever happens for the rest of the year, Henderson, Hampson and Warnock need to play every game. I don't care how they're going, we need to pump the games into them because thats how young talls improve.

Each & Every Carlton listed player should be made to read this "gem" by Jimmy Buckley ......

He delivered the keynote address at the Magnificent Sevens Luncheon about the culture of Carlton and what it means to him back in 2007.

Loyalty, Pride and Respect: The Spirit of Carlton

Together we pushed each other to the hilt, as we gave the team our all.
Together we took the Club in the one direction – forward – and if you dragged the chain you were quickly pulled into line.

That was because mediocrity wasn’t tolerated at Carlton.
At Carlton there was an unwritten rule – regardless of what happened in the home and aways, you hadn’t arrived until you’d performed in finals on footy’s greatest stage, the MCG.

This is just part of his closing address:-

Now is the time for the players of this great Club to make their own history, and in closing I say this to you;

Boys, when you head back to Princes Park for training this week, take a moment to look at the names on your locker and think about those great Carlton men who have gone before.

doubt Ellard would get dropped, while Johnson stays in.

Why is everyone suddenly on Johnson's back again? I must admit I only got to watch the first quarter and half the second against Collingwood and I heard he had a shocker. .. Prior to that weekend he was one of few actually putting his body on the line highlighted by that first half against WCE. .. Its hard to judge a player in the Collingwood match where nearly everyone played badly. .. Dropping Johnson is like dropping Robbo, altho Johnson has more skill, sure he isn't in our A or even B grade list but he sure seems to at least put the effort in. ..

Note, I'm not advocating dropping Ellard either. .. I actually think its time Ratten bit the bullet and dropped a couple of senior players who are putting it on the line. ..

Ratten puts acid on ailing Blues

''When the contest was up for grabs, we were found wanting,'' he said in his post-match comments. ''You get a choice to put your body on the line and I don't think some of our blokes did when they had to.''

After the dust settled, the coaching staff and players reviewed the game and discussed how to get back on track. Ratten said yesterday the meeting was not a ''yell-fest'' and his post-game comments had taken away ''any greyness [and] made it fairly simple'' for players to understand what was required over the next month.

Johnson was better than most against WC, and was no worse than most against Collingwood.

Hoping none of Grigg, Ellard or Johnson is dropped. These players deserve a chance to settle in the team, and don't see how they've been any worse than other over recent times.

If anyone is to be dropped, prefer to see some "settled" players dropped if a statement is to be made.

Partial line in the sand this Friday guys, not a full line in the sand.

----- ------ ----- ------ ----- ------ ----- ------ ----- ------ ----- ------

Lets hope he doesn't join the dots and make it a full line in the sand. God forbid what might happend
