Jetta can accept a 2 week ban for rough conduct. I suspect he will take that due to his bad record.

Not surprising there.

If we go like for like with a replacement for Jetta does anyone see Strauss getting a run over Nicholson? Wouldn't mind him being given a chance. Is good one on one and we know he is an excellent user of the footy.

Yeh, I'd rather Strauss get his chance - we know Neeld prefers Nicho though, however Strauss has had better VFL form IMO.

McKenzie surely comes in - but I wonder if we keep Viney in who will go?

Gawn, Jamar or Pedersen?

Has to be a tall to go IMO.

That tall could be Clark, although we would all rather it not be.

If McKenzie returns you would think Viney is the one to miss. All 3 talls above deserve another run.

All good news from where I sit. Would rather him miss a game or two with a mild sprain than the alternative.

I think we can handle ourselves without him for a week. I love clark but it almost felt like the players had more freedom going forward in the final term when he was out of the game. Use Gawn and Pederson as forward talls, Bail, Byrnes, Davey, and Evans can crumb, Howe will float and take the big marks.

We can handle it for a week or two but I'd rather have the big fella out there. We came home with a wet sail when he was off but he still commands their best defender which takes so much pressure off those above. Big chance for a few to stand up in his stead.

True. Viney would be the kind of bloke who would go balls to the wall after being subbed off during the gws game.
Yeah viney didn't look to happy after the game knowing he wasn't part of that last quater until Bail pushed into the middle for the song. I reckon he is burning to get out there and prove himself.

Gawn, Pederson, Watts and Jamar rotating as big forwards this week, we don't need Sellar up there.

Bad luck for Clark, reckon he would love to get back onto the Gabba in front of his old fans,

If Clark misses it would be nice to see Neeld just go with a mid sized player like Strauss to replace him, I think Pederson, Gawn, Jamar and Howe can take care of the talls for the forward line. I just think we've been too tall most of the year.

In good news for us, looks like Pearce Hanley (who has been ripping it up this year) won't play for the Lions. He's been offered a one-match ban for striking (and also had a minor injury v North).

Good to hear re: suspension. Did Jack Redden go for his head high knock as well? It looked fairly bad at the time.

92.5 points if he accepts the penalty, so he will play

How did Watts go? Haven't seen the game but if he hasn't lifted his game from the first two rounds then he needs to be told "go back to the VFL, once your game has improved you can come back"
Dawes is down as a test on the injury list, assuming he passes and Watts hasn't improved sufficiently then i'd like to see him come in for Watts.
Other than that the only changes i'd make would be Mckenzie in for Viney, give him a rest for his ankle, and obviously someone small has to come in for Jetta, not another tall though

How did Watts go?

Loaded question with a different answer depending who you ask. There's some analysis of his game in both his thread in the change rooms and in the general thread on our main board.

Watts is good with the ball, he is really lacking in defensive side of the game though, a move to the forward line might help him.

We just moved him from the forward line. Weird suggestion that.

Kevin Sheedy exploited this on the weekend. His man took about 6 or 7 uncontested marks at the top of the 50 metre line. Please Neeld, put him in the forward line

But he is struggling there, he is fantastic with the ball, one if the best decision makers in the side but if you're going to play in the backline you have to be able to defend your opponent and Watts just isn't that good at it.

yeah noticed this, Watts was always trailing his man by a long way.

But a move will do him more harm than good. We've only recently shifted him to the backline and he spent the majority of his pre season training with the backs. His defensive game needs some work but he won't learn that if we move him so quickly. Knee jerk reaction.

Could say it was a knee jerk reaction taking him out of the forward line in the first place. Watts kicked 21 goals in his 3rd season from 22 games. Also averging 5.6 marks a game. I thought he was going along nicely for a 20 year old but apparently he wasn't a superstar so we had to throw him down back??? what?

Have a look at Hawkins or Westoff more recentley, Geelong and Port persisted playing those guys in their natural position, imagine when Hawkins was struggling they decided to throw him in the backline?

Watts is a great reader of the game, he is good at finding his own position and running out on a lead with good solid hands, he is not good at staying with his opponent and is not a good spoiler of the ball.

Understand what you are saying after he has been training down back all off season but i don't think he should of ever been moved in the first place. After 21 goals from 22 games in 2011, if had played forward last year, who knows, he could of been a 30-40 goal forward for us this year.

So because he shouldn't have been moved in the first place it means he should be moved back?

Silly logic. I see what you're saying but moving him forward after just 4 rounds serves zero purpose.
