In: O'Brien, walker (pending fit), Wigg/Hampton

Out: Jacobs (inj), Thompson (managed), mackay

B: Cheney, Talia, lever
Hb: Smith, Hartigan, Laird
C: seedsman, brouch, Atkins
Hf: lynch, walker, Cameron
F: McGovern, Jenkins, Betts
R: O'Brien, Sloane, Lyons
I: Brown, mrouch, Douglas, Wigg/Hampton

Would bring in cey later if we are looking at managing another inside mid. Reckon we are better balanced with another outside mid.

Out : Thompson (rested), Jacobs (inj), Mackay (as useful as a c*ck flavoured lollipop)
In: Wigg, CEY or Gore, ROB <-- All deserve a game, but are also easily omitted if they don't dominate, if someone does play so well they warrant another game then it'll probably be the worst from Atkins, Cheney, Wigg, CEY/Gore to get the chop.

Wait? What?

Give the kid 1 preseason and he'll be better, especially as he's probably one preseason away from being a starter. This year was about giving him a taste, and blooding him... i'd be happy to blood him again for the next two weeks.

Anyway:

Out:

Thompson - Just looks cooked and i'd like to see us change up our midfield set up. Thommo, Crouch Bros and Lyons is one too many slow midfielders i reckon.
Mackay - Just a selfish nothing performance from him, and this is very much the norm right now. Give him a few weeks in the SANFL and really make him fight for his spot.
Jacobs - He's probably our most important player in terms of structure (Along with Tex/Talia), so no point risking him.

In:
Wigg - Had a good season in the SANFL and deserves some due rewards.
Menzel - Yes, Menzel. I feel like we need more skillful players and another runner + having more gamebreakers has never hurt a side before.
Lowden - He's a gun, better than Rhen and will be the best ruckman in the clubs history.

I'm messing with you, ROB

Yes, I'd give Tex another week off. Really get that body right for Freo onwards.

He may be better than Rhen.. but he definitely isn't better than Rehn..

This thread is pretty much spot on in terms of who should go out.
Thompson, Jacobs (inj) and Mackay. As a collective this board gets talked down for having whipping boys and not knowing anything by the usual few but time and again the board is generally a year ahead of the selectors. This is a cultural selection issue, not a knowledgable issue. We have improved this year but it's clear we still have a way to go. Losing Wright gave Campo and Noble one less to demand selection for this year, let's hope 2 more join next year so we actually have our best talent representing us.
Not the best situation when you have to hope guys get delisted to end the self sabotage at selection

Milera will definately not be in! Looked lost in the sanfl and is cooked this year! Will be better after a couple of preseasons and another 50 games.
Milera looked pretty good when he was on the ball early. Then he got moved out to Siberia and struggled to impact. Its a hard gig playing those HFF roles in the SANFL.

At least someone was smart enough to put our top prospect on the ball for a portion of the game so he can actually get involved and, you know, develop.

So do we want to win by 100 plus or do we want to play youth/give debuts? Can't have both peeps.
.

Is that you Neil?

Bringing in CEY and ROB for Thommo and Sauce would still be a 100 point game with the advantage of resting sauce and not playing a midfielder short.

Thompson omitted, not rested.

Thompson retired, not omitted or rested. It will happen one day why not today?

Without having having read the thread fully, for mine:

ROB for Sauce
Tex for MacKay
Seems like a good game to give Thommo a rest and CEY a run.

Dr Carl says Walker to miss one more

Jacobs out, O'Brien in

Otherwise unchanged
Happy that Tex is resting for another game, and that ROB gets his chance.

OK, maybe the trip to Perth is the better game for Thompson to miss.

But you've summed the rest up nicely ..

This is the best option in my opinion as we cannot afford for Sauce to aggravate his injury, if we cant beat Brisbane with out him then that will show we are not good enough. Thommo needs a rest and CEY needs a couple of continuous games,DMac just isn't performing good enough to keep his position if we are to go forward. Also players like Atkins,Brown need to lift.

I think Thompson should miss both the Brisbane and Fremantle games…have a proper rest as we cannot afford him to be a non-event in finals (particularly in defensive transition).

If Walkers fit, I think he needs the game time, his form has waned of late, needs to beat up on a few lesser sides to get his swagger back heading into finals.

For mine the week to rest Thommo is probably next week, no point sending him to WA, unless he misses to games, which probably isn't a bad idea. Give CEY a couple of games to show his wares and have some level of AFL form heading into finals in case of injury. Thommo wouldn't miss a beat and would probably benefit from a significant refresh.

Just on that, and I can't find our goal kicking list to check - does it seem like we've had a large drop off in our goals from mids this year?

It's been an issue for a number of years I think, certainly since McLeod, Edwards and Goodwin retired. Thankfully we've now developed a potent forward line, but our midfield has been decidedly impotent for some time when it comes to kicking goals.

Hopefully guys like Atkins, Seedsman, Hampton, Lyons, Milera and Menzel can change this.

I honestly see no point in playing Tex this week either. Get him 110%.

Beating up on Freo's defence, or lack there of, should be enough to get his confidence back instantly and work himself back into form.

I can only hope the stupidity of Wigg missing a game prior to then having a bye when he is burning up the SANFL wasn't actually the case and he's been earmarked for a debut this week.

Go have a read I'm sure you know how to use google

Onus is on you to provide proof. Basic commonsense would tell you that. Asking someone who doesn't think that the proof exists will just result in, "yep, had a good look, nothing to be found". If you have access to the evidence to back up any claim, then you need to post it.

Oh, by the way, I looked low and high and there's nothing on it at all. I did find an article where Sheedy said it was the best 12 months from a first year player he's ever seen and that they've done a handshake deal to quadruple his salary for his second yar and guarantee him the senior coach role in the future. Just use google, you'll find it.

I genuinely think the selectors are somewhat hesitant to 'rest' thommo for this game or the freo game incase cey kills it. Its a problem they dont 'need' to deal with. (Telling thommo hes not in their best 22.)
Can you imagine noble and co trying to justify why cey has been dropped after getting 32 touches, 10 tackles and kicking 2 goals for thommo who has been averaging around the low 20s with no scoring.
I really like thommo and i hope in finals he steps it up but it seems age is quickly catching up with him. By playing just 27 players and keeping players in the team even after 2/3 poor performances gives confidence to the players entrenched in the 22, it also makes a mockery of the elite standards concept.
We have alot of good young football talent on our list who are playing very well in the sanfl. There comes a time when you need to see what theyve got and if their better than what the current incumbents have.

It's a delicate balance.

I fear it's gone too far in favour of the incumbents which leads to complacency on their part and despondency amongst those who rightfully deserve a crack and aren't getting it (CEY, Wigg prob the only 2 in this boat atm).
