I'll be ****ing livid if we don't pick doogs

Most of us believe you could fit another tall into this side and move a quasi tall that isn't giving us anything out of the side but even if ken disagreed there is any number of talls who could make way for doogs if it has to be a tall for a tall.

Austin seems to be the forgotten man, I thought he showed plenty late last year when Hombsch and Jonas were out, those 3 sidesteps against the roos were brilliant, and something many players of his size just wouldn't be capable of doing.

Agreed that the low scores against poor teams may not be giving a true reflection of the defence's overall performance.
We are 0-5 against top 9 sides
Averaging 104 against

Tall Feds against us.
Essendon (X3 fwds) 11.5
Geelong (x2) 1.4
WCE (x2) 4.4
GWS (x3) 8.4
Adel (X3) 8.1

Only other team to break 70 against us was the Swans who got (from 2) 7.2

whatever trust was built in 2014 has long since evaporated.

since 2014?
Robbie Gray has been allowed to become a petulant stager who plays when he feels like it and it isn't hard, and hasn't been reined in for nearly 2 seasons
Wingard is going the same way if we aren't careful
Boak has become a flanker that hobbles around without much impact after having 35-40 Brownlow votes over 2 years

All 3 of those were AA early in Ken's reign, at least two have discipline issues now, and R Gray was my favorite port player for a long time.

Lobbe became a liability
Westhoff went from 30ish goals a season to some tall winger role
Hartlett went from a 20-25 possession and a goal a game to whatever he is now
Pittard went up then back down again with a thud
Trengove went from a decent CHB to a slightly crappier Vickery role
Impey started off as a good back pocket

S Gray, AhChee, Young, Neade, Amon are still fringe players nearly 3 seasons later

Couple of players like Wines and Ebert about break even, but I can't think of any that have dramatically improved in the last 3 seasons.

But you know, lets back them in for another year, until they are kind enough to retire and get out of the side. Of players that played more than 10 games in '14, O'Shea is the only one that we didn't have to be forced to get rid of.

But, lets back them in again, surely that won't fail.
Ken simply won't improve this side, he has his blokes he likes and short of career ending injury they are there to stay.

When we look back at this era in, say, 5-10 years, I'm not sure we'll have any idea what to make of it.

Such a brilliant, promising start, and then a cavalcade of defeats while raging favourites. Already mentioned it a few days ago, but I'm certain we'd be top of that particular ladder from 2014-onwards.

If it's wildly confusing now it'll be forensic bedlam through the rear-window.

We've been certified as the next dynasty and derided as potential bottom 4 pondscum during Hinkley's reign, so yeah it's all been pretty hard to predict. Funnily enough neither extreme has been proven correct so far and our results have split the difference.

So unless we start winning some tough ones this era will just be labelled a mediocre meh.

I hope Tails and thunderbolt dont see this shit.
Itake the point about howard not ready. 8 goals sounded great and then watched the video. He has come off a knee reconstruct and the risk of is a factor. Prob playing backs to minimize risk and form uP to westy game just par. These were my thoughts prior to interview.
Trust the club re this
Young is an obvious in
Would have liked a youngster to be given a chance.

I wouldn't mind betting they were keen for him to hit the 12 month mark and to find his confidence chops in the SANFL. I am pretty confident that Ken wants him in the 22 asap.

I am excited by what he can give the team in terms of flexibility. He will give us what Harry Taylor gives Geelong.

Mind you, I'm still a bit on the fence re Hinkley. But he's making it bloody hard to keep any faith in him. There's just no way he wasn't going to go back to the well and select those revolving door players. How about Young string a few games together in the SANFL before being considered., like Doogs and Palmer apparently must do. Nah, bring him straight back in. Give him a chance to shine against a shitty Brisbane and cement his place for the next month rather than bring in a youngster and allow him to gain some confidence against an inexperienced opponent on the big stage. This ****ing stinks.

Ken is going to 'trust' this group right out of his own job.

I actually think Ken can coach, it's his selection policy I'm finding intolerable. It's his "faith in the group" that leads to results like the Essendon game, players safe in the knowledge that being a part of the inner circle guarantees them certain entitlements the outer circle guys don't get. Mark Williams created a culture like this and it tore the list apart over time.
