Too early to drop Marshall but Sgray is in great form so I'm semi ok with it. Dougal down back will be important... PLUS CO CAPTAINS!! yeah

T
5 years straight of dropping a tall after 2/3 weeks

I think I worked out the PAFC formula. It is the number of players above 195cm. We bring in Howard (>195cm) for Watts (<195cm) and drop Marshall (>195cm) to bring in a player less than 195cm, S Gray. It’s all about team balance and not having more than 4 players over 195cm.

Sam Gray Sam Gray Sam ******* Gray he is never going to be better then now , what's the point farrel, mayes and aj before that momentum killing Muppet

plus i think farel is the tyoe that will play better in the AFL than in the sanfl. would have had mayes as a tall marking HFF and second then farrel... thats if marshall was to be dropped.
but to go to sammy again is crazy

FMD - if Marshall is getting dropped surely we bring in Frampton. S.Gray is not a genuine forward, more a midfielder which we've got enough of.
If it has to be a small in, Farrell is the one.

..... Ryder escapes criticism a fair bit. He's the elephant in the room.
He actually does have a proven high ceiling though. He's near the end of his career (contract runs out this year) and most KPPs go out like this with a few quiet ones then a good one. I'm quite neutral on his selection. No probs with him being in. But no probs with Frampton, Ladhams or McKenzie in either.

Really annoyed at this decision.

I'd be ok with going shorter if we were bringing in a dangerous, skillful, small. But we aren't.

I'd be ok if we were bringing in a small, defensive, tackling machine. But we aren't.

We're bringing in a guy that more often than not - especially against decent teams - fumbles all day long, can't kick 35m, falls over like no other, thinks he's a 6'6 contested marking beast, fails to find targets when he has the ball with a huge percentage always falling short of the target and that's not to mention the eternity it takes him to move the ball on once he has it after going through his 'guppy out of water' breathing techniques.

He also buys way, way too many credits from Ken after playing the occasional decent/good game. It keeps him in the side for weeks of poor performance.

He's had his opportunity, more than enough chances to show what he has and he hasn't managed to be good enough, often enough.

Unfortunately he does not make us a better side. It's the opposite.

We've just thrown our flexibility into the toilet like every other time we've done this in the Hinkley era.

Now when we inevitably send Westhoff back to deal with the talls during a Brisbane flourish, we'll have Helmet Ryder and smalls to kick to, which means turnovers.

I'm equal parts flipping my lid and reverting to the total lack of expectation I had preseason. Totally unneccesary change that will make us worse.

Andrew Moore used to tear up the SANFL too, but AFL was a bit beyond his capabilities. Sam Gray’s SANFL form is a false economy. In the SANFL you can afford to fall over, or handball at the feet of teammates, or be a slow runner, because the pace of the game is slow and all the other players make those same errors under pressure.
In the AFL the pace goes up and the opposition sweats on and punishes that sort of stuff.
The SANFL is Sam Gray’s level.
