There lies the problem

You can hope for only so long before you give up

That's a negative way of looking at it Fred.

Being a supporter of a club, it is a lifetime commitment. You choose a club and then follow it for life. You don't have any choice in the matter. Well, you can always change clubs but then what is the point of that, any premiership will be a hollow one. So, your happiness or otherwise football team supporting wise is with mother destiny. You have no control over it. So you just suck it in,enjoy the journey and hope like hell we can win a premiership in our lifetime. That's all we can do.

I have a belief that in a parallel universe somewhere in the galaxy, there is a Western Bulldogs football club with 20 premierships. It's motto is "We exist to win premierships". We keep Quinlan, Round, Chris Grant wins two brownlows and Jarman does his hamstring early in the 97 final. That is in another parallel universe. It's just my luck to be stuck in this one.

We dish up that crap and people start to lose hope and it has a domino effect and before to long we are gone as well (Most likely Western Sydney)

Thank you, El Presidente! But please don't project your morbid fantasies - you know how bitter we ex-Fitzroy supporters are.

In-OKEEFE(FFS! he has waited long enough)

Out-Eagle,Stack etc take your pick!

Agree BB we lost yesterday at the selection table by not picking Okeefe who has been in great form & is a great finisher especially considering we didnt have higgins, gia & murph who he plays like.
Ocka would have been good for at least 1 goal you would think with the 57 inside 50's we had! His composure & goal kicking would have been very handy especially in the first half.
Surely we are not going to let Okeefe go without looking at him at the afl?

I'm feeling your pain Fred. Neither of us will ever give away supporting the Dogs. But how are less passionate supporters feeling??
A voice inside me is saying is it worth the pain? But I know I will never heed it.
We have had many painful losses but this one was one of the hardest to swallow. We needed a minor miracle to win the flag this year - now it seems like a major miracle.
Cheers mate. :thumbsu:

Out : Smorgon, Rose, Fantasia and not forgetting the Great Satan himself - Rodney Eade.

In: The Angry Men of Big Footy - they know the score! President Fred Cook, Coach Kapper Tau, Football Manager Libba 39, Recruiting Manager (via time machine) Power Forward and Marketing Manager BWFC (2010 membership drive slogan "We're all dooomed!")

Oh, all right then:

In: Murphy (I hope), Welsh (need someone to sh!tcan if we - sorry, guys - WHEN we lose next week, Picken, Guy O'Keefe (just to prove he's about as AFL ready as Jarrad "Where am I, man?" Grant)
Out: Eagleton, Johnson, Addison, Stack (hero to zero in a week - no room for mediocrity, son), Hudson, Minson, Eagleton again (just to make sure)

No changes necessary, just keep rolling along and hope if we get some luck and things go our way we can pinch a premiership in September, basically what we've been saying for the past 50 years.

Great post TBFB.

And to reward your unwavering faith, here is your parallel universe!

The Denver Bulldogs were founded in 1997 and since then have won no less than 6 USAFL premierships (2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2007)!

Check out their club history pages if you want to get that warm feeling that Bulldogs can indeed be top dogs ... over and over again.

I don't see Eade bringing in Skipper, he doesn't seem to have any confidence in him at all. Murphy & Welsh will come back in. Take your pick with the outs, but i would have thought callan is worth a try in for everitt who is all at sea. Callan played well in the biggest game last year & seems a more natural defender than Everitt who at the moment has no niche.

When higgins is right i would drop Eagleton, but he'll stay.

they probably have to drop one of or both Addison/Stack

Dropping guys in our best 22 like Hahn & Minson ect would be completely counter-productive at this point, when stk did it they still had half a season to turn it around, we need these guys to play & play well now.

These next 3 weeks are a HUGE TEST OF EADE'S COACHING ABILITY. Seriously, he has to find a way to A. Get this group to recover from bad loss & install belief B. come mentally switched on & not give away early leads C. get some good footballers like Cooney & Griffen (& others) to produce their best....

a good coach can do it......

Ins: Skipper, Reid, Picken
Outs: Eagleton, Williams, Stack

Next year Barry Hall in please.

I wish we had tried skipper as FF in the last two games. I mean, things couldnt have turned out much worse than they did (the freo game was never in doubt), and at least we would have learned something

Exactly, if ever there was a time to try him, it was the past 2 weeks.

I'd still have him in against Brisbane on the basis that at the moment our forward line could not be any less shit, so put a tall in there and see what happens.

We've already learnt he's not the answer to our problems, he doesn't even do well as a forward in the VFL! Why would it work in the AFL???

Eade was asked about Skipper today, said he's not able to play forward in the AFL, is purely a back-up for ruck injuries.

With Cross now out, I can see it being;

In: Murphy, Picken
Out: Cross, Stack/Addison

This looks likely, with Welsh to play for Williamstown this week.

Knowing Eade I say Murphy for Cross. Maybe the rest of the match committee can convince him to drop an underperforming player.

St.Kilda are 19 and 0 and they had the guts to drop Luke Ball.
Ross Lyon is a great coach.

Maybe they shouldve rucked Skipper during some point in the season in the seniors and tried Wil as a full forward/big bloke up forward and see what came of it.

well mison doesn`t do well as a forward in the AFL... so why not give skipper a go, i will bet you he would take a mark in our forward line... something minson didn`t do on saturday.......

He as much a FF as Cam Wight. He's too slow, not mobile enough to play forward and would become a liabilty.

Minson is a ruckman and as such is a long long way ahead of Skipper.

im talking about minson playing forward he cant mark, where skipper can, so stick him in forward line and try him out, rotate minson and hudson off bench..... we can`t do any worse can we...?????

I agree there is nothing to lose in giving Skipper a game, if he is hopeless, well he will be delisted next year anyway, at least there would be someone tall up forward to have a target to kick to.

Minson tries hard and is a solid ruckman, but up forward he just drops too many marks.

I hope they give O'Keefe a run this week and persist with Wood.

Would like to see them drop Eagleton (to make him earn his way back into the team with form), Stack or Addison.

Don't know if Welsh is a big inclusion anyway he hasn't done much this year IMO, do people think he is gone at the end of this year?

Did he sign a three-year deal or two?

It seems like O'Keefe has done enough to demand a spot and should be rewarded. My only concern is his pace. we seem to be slowly, player by player, moving away from the super quick team of a few years ago. My concern is that if we are not going to play any talls at all then super pace has to be our point of difference. Can any of the Willy watchers comment on his pace please.

Also, if he is rewarded with a spot hopefully it will serve as some motivation to Grant to show some desperation and force the selectors to play him. From reports and the two games i have seen him play he seems happy to coast.
