Strategy Changes Vs Bulldogs Take 2

If he's played well enough at VFL level then I'm ok with him getting his chance.
If he's the difference between us winning or losing this one then we really are f*****d.
Vince is the more perplexing one. Dropped him because we were too slow to carry both him and Lewis in the back 6. I'm tipping he hasn't gained a yard in 2 weeks.

Who has said he is the difference between winning and losing? Literally no-one.

The problem I have is we're going back to a team that is way too slow to beat anyone half decent on the MCG. We should be beating the Dogs regardless because they are pretty average this year, but we put the 22 we have this week out there against anyone in the top 10 on the MCG and we'll get cut up by pace yet again. If you drop a runner like Stretch you bring someone like Baker or Kent in, not ****ing JKH and Vince.

WHOA. Easy fella.
If he's not the difference between winning and losing, I don't get what all the chatter is about in here about him being picked.
Has been in solid form for a while now in the VFL so deserves a spot.
As I said, Vince is the more perplexing one for me. Has played his share of senior games this year and shown it's probably gone past him. We can't have both him and Lewis in the back 6.
I'd love to see Kent back in but maybe they just want to make sure he's right seeing as he broke down in his 2nd game back?
I don't know enough about Baker to comment, other than that he's quick but so is Hunt (I know he's injured but was dropped) - not an automatic guarantee he'll be any good at the level though.

I'm taking the optimistic approach. Too many times Melbourne has turned average opposition players into superstars I think it's time one of our averaged player plays like a superstar. JKH to join the 20 and 3 club.

You mean a reverse-Kingsley?

Nibbler's 50th game. Thought he'd was more in the 60-70 range for some reason.

Spot on. We should still win, but the Dogs have a decent sniff of an upset if they can pressure our mids, mop up the spillage and spread from the contest. Maybe we'll completely batter them at the contest and they won't be able to contain Clarence, Chunk, Gawn, etc as they pick out McDonald, Hogan, Petracca, etc and it won't matter. Maybe.

Last time it was Chunks 250th. This time its Nibblers 50th.

I think the Bulldogs have a sniff if we either take them too lightly or we succumb to the post-Darwin game. This is a Danger game to be sure.

I reckon we've got them covered, only factor would be post darwin.

The problem is though, and I've been saying this since Blease, as soon as one of these speedy outside types has a quiet game which they are pretty prone to doing, they get dropped from the side for not 'doing enough defensive acts' or some other bollocks.

We absolutely need 2 or 3 of them in the side but actually continue to play them. Sure, there will be games where they don't really get involved enough, but they will win you more games than they lose. Bottom line is, we have players with weapons that very few in the AFL have, and we don't play them because they aren't defensive tackling robots. It is plain to see what happens when you have a bunch of Dom Tysons in the side..
But kicking a score is literally not a concern for us; it’s the defensive side of the game that’s been our weakness for a season and a half! So yeah, if you’ve got pace and you don’t use it defensively, gtfo

Your post bothers me. Took a while for me to put my finger on it, but I think it is the correct use of a semicolon in the first sentence which is surprising in itself, but then pairing that sentence with one without a full stop.

People I would have selected before JKH (in order):

Dean Kent, Tom Bugg, Mitch Hannan, Oskar Baker, Dom Tyson, Harley Balic, Sam Weideman, Aaron Vandenberg, Tim Smith, Corey Wagner, Josh Wagner, Cam Pederson, Harrison Petty, Declan Keily, Lachlan Filipovic, Mitch King, Jay Lockhart, Aidan Riley, Daisy Pearce, Jordan Gysberts, Rebecca Judd, Scott Simister, Waleed Aly, Luke Molan, Bernard Tomic, Pat McKenna, Jimmy Barnes.

All the best, son.

Take it easy mate, what about Dion Johnstone

Guess who’s attending?
Given your record seeing Melbourne live, I'm assuming half our team won't be.

Host of the blandest show on TV. Highly regarded left wing muppet. Grotesque mum-blog Mamamia's 2016 "Bloke Of The Year". An annoyingly palatable muslim (wife is caucasian, doesn't blow people up that we known of, would have a beer with anyone if only he was allowed to drink, nice teeth). Can play a note-for-note rendition of the guitar solo in a notable Pink Floyd song according to Channel 10 news. Captain of his local cricket team.

Really struggling to think of someone I'd rather punch in the face more.

Probs JKH if I'm honest.

Is this the gameday thread?

Waleed Aly? That's just taking things too far.

Hotspot? I imagine the medicos will take a cautious approach given the history.

Very deflating news.

AVB and Kent can't be ready to come back quick enough.
Lol, these are the MFC medicos we’re talking about here

I’ll take the compliment, backhanded as it is

And you’ve gotta drop the full stop off your last sentence in texts and forum posts. It’s some sort of convention, I’m told
