Pending Casey form, as always, I reckon Petterd, Couch and Tynan would be the only players really on the table in terms of playing AFL... Strauss still won't be ready in terms of match fitness and stocks are thin on the ground after that.

Bail, Morton and either McKenzie or Bate would make way for them I reckon.

Not sure about Sellar staying in the team, he doesn't really have much of a role from what I can see... bit of a nothing game from him yesterday, wasn't our worst though I guess. Would prefer a runner like Bennell, but he's shown nothing this year so that's just shifting deck chairs really. Blease would be a possibility.

Edit: forgot Green, how awkward... can't see him coming back in after 1 game though unless he kicks 8.

I am surprised at the lack of Bate anger here. I love the man but he cannot be in our team any longer. He is way too slow.

We are too tall also. Watching our forwards go into the forward line yesterday we had Sellar, Martin, Clarke, Bate - all of which are pretty tall and pretty slow. I don't think any of them had particularly bad games, but someones got to go.

If we're goin to bring in Blease please play him off half back. The guy has great pace and a lovely kick. Let him play a position where he can take advantage of these assets

I think Bate got a reprieve this week for actually looking like he was trying, the problem with Bater is he can't seem to find himself in the right position at the right time, which often leads to dropped marks/fumbled balls etc.

It's hard to tell whether he gets poor delivery or if he really is playing badly. I personally think it's a little bit of both. From memory he seems to be one of those players who always seems to play much better when the team is.

I personally don't think he's part of our best 22 but Neeld and co might see something we don't.

I noticed a lot of kicks to Bate were perfect for someone with a touch more pace. He always got there just a bit too late and fumbled. I also noticed that he gets into an empty space and calls for the ball without any sort of lead which allows players to run over the top of him e.g. kick out from a behind in the last quarter.

I'll go with who I think should be on the block; will wait until Casey play for the INs.

Sellar or Martin has to go; I'd rather leave Sellar out.

Bate isn't adding much, I'd keep Bail but use him on a wing or off the HBF.

Tom McDonald; I like the kid but we went in WAY too tall on the weekend, we can't do that against the Dogs with Dalhaus, Smith, Giansiracusa all in their forward-line.

Rivers, Garland, Frawley, Bartram, Bail, Grimes would be my preferred back six for the Dogs at the moment.

Agree with many others who believe we are too tall. I think that probably hurt us a touch in the second half when we needed the continued run and we didn't have enough players to offer it.

I want to see Morton and Davey keep their spots for at least another week. Hopefully Couch puts in another BOG and forces his way in, although he should have done that already.

If we make the right changes we have a real show against the Bullies.

Shoot Morton on the spot, he's a poor man's Brent Grgic at this point. Did anyone hear Malthouse on Fox? Apparently he was ripping into him.

Yeah he was. "Morton's having a bad one." "Morton's having a shocker."

I recorded this game if anyone wants it.

Surely McKenzie has to go for Couch this week, at the very least.

Is there anyone else worth bringing in? Moloney is probably ready to return but Sylvia is still a few weeks away. I'd give Tapscott and Morton at least another week also.

Also depends on who plays well tomorrow. I like Tynan but he would have to perform pretty well tomorrow to get a look in I think.

according to Sylvia on an interview at half time, he's 1 maybe 2 weeks away.

Finding it hard to pick the outs because not too many players were any good. But looking at our line up, we have too many talls, too many mid-sized average flankers and a lack of midfielders and pace.

Outs
Bate
Dunn
Sellar
Mcdonald/Bail

Possible Ins
Couch
Moloney
Sylvia
Blease
Green
Petterd

With the modern game and players running all over the ground the more midfielders in the team the better. Play the mids on the flanks instead of Bate and Dunn. Sellar too tall, too many ruckman all over the field when we only have one guy playng in the ruck all day, Either Mcdonald or Bail, I would drop Mcdonald as i think we need more mids in the side but Bail has had a shocking 2 weeks and doesn't deserve his spot.

The ins are a bit hard to pick, depends on the injuries and vfl form but they are the only 6 possible ins i can see, If Couch doesn't get picked I would love to know why.

I think its time for another delivery of Chicken Hearts ... Might be the thing we need.

I only want people in if they will give their all.. The only ones who look like that are our rookie players .. Maybe bring all them in just to show the people on the list that they are replaceable.

Spot on. Should have traded Bate while he had the chance. Sick of our list management being too nice.

Swap Bartram (useless) for Joel Mc and I completely agree... and I'm not saying Joel Mc is the long term answer but he is a better option that Bartram for sure...

he didnt get traded as he is a big body and thats what we need.

All we could of got was a low pick anyway.

For hurting himself while laying a tackle?
Nice one AFL! :thumbsd:

Think he would have missed the week with concussion anyway.

I think it was the other tackle where he slammed jackson into the astroturf in the first quarter. Pretty soft suspension though, could be worth challenging.

Dogs offered 2nd round pick for him which we used on Talia others that have already shown talent after that pick like Paine, Neale, Rowe, Grigg surely not taking that pick was crazy given what Bate is producing, but I'm not complaining as I thought it was stupid to even offer that for someone that is in between sizes to play anywhere on ground effectively.

It's no good being a big body if you are too slow to get to contests and have large turning circle as a forward and too slow, not skilled enough or can't win enough contests as a midfielder.
