Because Yeo is not a midfielder...

He is a rebounding backman

Was a midfielder til he started at the Lions. Needs to be played as a mid for the sake of the club because we have plenty of half backs, what we need is a mid with pace, size and aggression at the contest. He has those abilities and attributes.

McInnes must come in next week no matter his form in the WAFL. And he needs to come in and be allowed to find his feet for at least 5-6 games. We need talls and he fits the bill of who is on our list. Play him CHB and let him develop. Everything to gain and little to lose. If the MC after 4 years have little faith in him then why is he on our list still?
How Bennell was not in the side offers up serious questions, I'm still trying to work out how he was dropped last year.
Wellingham is being crucified by the MC, he has to play wing. That's what he is. He is not a back man, he is not a run with player.
Masten and Selwood are the Shane Watsons of the Eagles. Untouchable! Both would be playing reserves for mine after 100 games of chances. Sick of reading how many stats these guys get, they butcher 80% of their touches.
Again after the game the coach States the obvious and says midfield was poor. Change it Simmo ffs and don't offer excuses the cupboard is bare because at trade time you said you were happy and excited about midfield depth.
We played ok against the Dogs, we played some exciting footy but it's the same muppets who destroy us. It's time they were shown the door.

Out: Brown (inj.), Butler (sick of his 'receive pass, stop and look backwards' technique), McGinnity (he's useless)
In: Schofield (need a tall), Bennell (why was he not even playing??), Lucas/Duggan (anyone's better than McGinnity)

Agreed.

Gotta keep Sheed.

Looked overawed, made some genuine bloopers and was slow. Only ended up with 8 effective disposals, the same as Lamb - a first game rookie who came on as a sub. Not writing him off but needs more development time in the WAFL.

McInnes must play? Bennell can defend? Drop Masten and Selwood? People lose track of reality. We would lose to the Blues by 10 goals if we made all those moves.

Why is McInnes on our list?
What did Bennell do wrong?
What part of 100 games of Selwood and Masten do you see an upside?

IN: Schofield/ McInness, Bennell, Newman, Ellis. OUT: Butler, Brown, McGinnity, Masten

How far away is Ellis? We need his experience down back to help out the kids (and Hurn) because that's basically what we are left with now.

If Schofield not injured we need him to replace Brown, not sure McInness is up to it, but now is the time to find out I guess if man bun is hurt.

Bennell, please.

He doesn't seem to be on anyone's out list but I am sick of Mastens inability to find space and his overwhelming ability to handball to a stationary player under pressure.

Don't recall Masten making many if any terrible handballs. Sometimes another player put him into a 50/50 situation and he in turn put another teammate into a 50/50 situation. Overall we overdid the handball. In the meantime, several of our players kicked straight to an opposition player inside their forward 50 or near it - leading to easy goals. Sheed did it twice - I don't see there is anyway he survives the chop, he's just not ready for the bigtime.

Only way he's going to be ready is to play him Masto. I think he has enough ability to persevere 4-5 games straight with to see what develops.
Also agree that Masten seems to cop a fair bit on here when I thought there were other mids that were worse. McGovern coughed up 2 goals, including the game winning one, but I am not here to crucify the kid, was outstanding with everything else he did. Sometimes things just happen.

Play the youngsters because the old firm has shown they're not up to it - get them in the side so they can develop

Drop Sheed, he isn't up to it

You have to hold players accountable. His play was too far off what is required to keep his place regardless of how young or inexperienced he is. If he is made of the right stuff he'll bounce back. If he's not, then no amount of carrying him in the team is going to save him.

The difference is Masten has been doing it for 100 games. We can safely say that it isn't an aberration with him, it's the norm.

Sheed has played 11 games, there may yet be some improvement in him.

We don't have to drop all those players. It may only take one or two changes, but the aforementioned combination has proven without doubt they are not good enough.

I was more talking about the sacking Simmo part. I agree, our midfield configuration isn't up to the task - but that's going to take several years to unpick. It's early days, but if we maintain resolve with Simmo and have another couple of drafts as good as what this year's crop is looking like, then I am very bullish about our medium-term prospects.

This season is going to be a dog's breakfast though, because we're still unpicking the consequences of a) a gameplan that didn't work since 2011, and b) years of moribund drafting.

We are not yet at the point where winning games doesn't matter and we are just developing youth.

Watch the game again, he makes a few errors by hand, one in particular where he shoves it straight at another player (Priddis I believe) who has a man right on him at the time and ball just spills from the instant tackle.

Not sure if McInnes could run with Henderson or Jones down back but if Casbouti comes in he would be a good match up .
Also Duggan and Bennell in

Out Brown ,Butler ,Sheed

I'm a Sheed fan but getting sent back to WAFL will only improve him and create hunger to play Afl

Yes we are, that's the problem. The club don't seem to realise how much trouble we are in, because they keep doing the same thing and exacting a different result, while other clubs make the cull, blood the youth and most reap the rewards. That was most evident yesterday.

Sheeds not going to get used to the speed of the AFL by playing WAFL. He needs to be played in the guts as much as possible in the AFL to see if he's got what it takes.

I don't need to watch the game again :)
