Yes we are, that's the problem. The club don't seem to realise how much trouble we are in, because they keep doing the same thing and exacting a different result, while other clubs make the cull, blood the youth and most reap the rewards. That was most evident yesterday.

No we're not. It's one game. Take a chill pill.

Been doing the same thing for three years or more Masto with the same shit results. Take your blinkers off and have a look around at what's really going on. We're not going to improve with continuing to play the same old stagers. We need to find good young players now or we'll only regress further.

We are not yet at the point where winning games doesn't matter and we are just developing youth.
Sheed struggled with the pace of the game last night and was better in the second half than he was in the first.
He needs games in the AFL because he isn't going to learn to what to do in the WAFL nor should he be dropped after one bad game

You seem to be confusing poor list management with giving up on a season that is just one game old. By your logic we shouldn't have tried at all, which is an insult to every player on the list. Until such time that we can no longer make finals then the #1 priority has to be winning games with whatever players we have.

Sheeds not going to get used to the speed of the AFL by playing WAFL. He needs to be played in the guts as much as possible in the AFL to see if he's got what it takes.

I don't mind that he's not pacy but I want him to bring intensiy to his attitude he appears a little laid back to be playing midfield .

Schofield, McInness and Bennell in for Brown, Lamb and Nelson. I was surprised Bennell wasn't in for Round 1 and was dropped a few times last year. The only thing I can think of is that he does seem to get scored against frequently. But rebounding backs generally do.

I don't think Butler offers much at all to the team. Didn't mark is player correctly and dropped marks which for an experienced player is simply not good enough. There were times last night where we screamed out for some silky skills and class which Bennell and Ellis both give us. Either of them should come in for Butler.

We also must be looking at Colledge, Duggan, Newman and McInnes with their WAFL form. Would love to see Newman in for McGinnity but I don't think that will happen unfortunately. I just feel we need some class around the half forward line and Newman certainly gives us that over McGinnity. That being said Pat is a role player and that keeps him in the team every week.

Now that I'm calm and rewatching the game:

Out: Brown, Butler, McGinnity
In: Schofield, Bennell, Ellis

That's all I realistically expect at this stage. Shore up the backline and see what happens.

Newman, Colledge and Duggan to get another 2 weeks to show their wares (EP aren't playing next week). Duggan's not fit enough yet and I question Colledge's game translating at the highest level. Additionally our forwardline performed very well given the lack of entry last night so I don't think Newman is going to solve any problems.

Sheed needs another game; he gets into good positions and despite the dreadful start showed some promise.

Hard to judge Sheeds game in my opinion received a truck load of hospital handballs and was subsequently mauled. Did well to hold on for a ball up most of the time rather than cough it up.

He just seems so unsure of himself but in the NAB game he was very clean with his disposal and seemed more confident taking the game on. This year needs to be a development year for our kids but also stay competitive to build a solid platform for next year.

In terms of youth we were younger than the bulldogs. We will probably field the youngest squad this weekend
Not where it matters though,

Our midfield core is much older than theirs. That is frightening. Theirs will get much better. Ours will be lucky to maintain what we did last year, let alone improve on last year.

Yeah the intensity was a step up compared to nab, and subsequently didn't have the time to do that. Plus Etihad is quite small in comparison to domain so there was less space to operate.

Bit harsh on Butler. He dropped one mark I think and had a bad kick into the forward line but the rest of the time his tacking, running to provide an option for team mates and also running to provide a shepherd or back up was good. Nelson seemed a bit overawed and reluctant to get in and get the ball but he will only get better with game time. Lamb doesn't lack confidence at all but the delivery to him wasn't good. Again, he needs game time. On dropped marks, I don't think there was one player who didn't. I don't see Bennell as a back pocket as he is too small on gets monstered buy he would be handy up the ground. We must give McInnes a go at CHB and Ellis is a certainty. It's hard to pick players who must be dropped as although some are playing bad they will stay due to their rep. Maybe some of the kids will have to play WAFL as there may be too many at the same time.

I see Sheed as a replacement for Priddis. Hopefully with much better skills.
Yep agree there is a lot of divided opinion on Sheed ATM and there is a good possibility that there will be a 300 plus page thread titled How Much Longer Can Sheed Be Played.

But for me Sheed is capable of doing everything Priddis can do plus some. Has a better kick, better over head mark, and faster (not hard to be i know )

Right on. We need to give our youth every opportunity this year. Finals now seem out of the picture, what with Easy, Browny and JD out ... the first two for the year _ we won't be able to cope with big forwards like Franklin or Hawkins.
Development year for us now, thanks to the footy gods.
