Headed over to the Carlton board to see their perspective - bad idea.

I didn't reply or anything, but it kills me to see them talking (quite rightly) about percentage boosting, how shit we are, etc.
It will be a nice feeling if (when?) we can roll a real team who isn't expecting it (a la Essendon 2012) but an even nicer feeling will be when we're actually respected as a club again.

Wasn't too long ago they spent the decade being a complete basket case, now they are a middle of the rung ok side. They're not wrong though, we will get smashed in this one.

Then we drop Jamar and put Gawn up against Warnock?
Jamar is good at the bounce. Doesn't offer much around the ground and reckon he's close to finished. Gawn and Clark are my ideal ruck duo. I recall in 2011 Gawn smashed Ben Hudson in the ruck in a Casey vs Williamstown match.

Gawn works hard around the ground and the type of player Neeld wants. After performing so well, it'd be a slap in the face to drop him.

Malthouse Judd and next top 5 could all sit on couch at home and we would still lose this by nearly a ton if weather fine.

Gawn is there for rest of season, clearly best tap ruck man we have, Blease needs to see season out as does Tapscott, very pleasing to see him put a few on their backsides. Others like Evans Jones also have shown plenty against the odds, must stay, they are hungry.

Too many on list can't play at level where they make a difference. Cop the hiding and give 10 or so jobs to just beat their man one on one. Clark and Dawes if right come back following week.

Pick blokes with a bit of prick, Joel McDonald

The sad irony is that the game will probably end up a percentage booster for both sides.

Unless we get utterly hammered again.

Oh like round 2 with only Jamar?

We played Sellar as well, who is just as immobile as Jamar.

Gawn is very mobile for his height, I don't want to drop him - my concern is that we'll be too tall and much to slow for a very speedy Carlton, if Gawn can ruck a whole game by himself - then play him and have Clark providing a chop out.

We can't have three 200cm players in our line up with two being in the forward 50 at any time along with another couple of 6'5 ers in Dawes and hopefully Watts, we will get destroyed on the rebound.

That's my concern - against GWS or GC we'll get away with it because we'll overpower them in the air and get a reasonable amount of i50s.

Against Carlton we are going to be smashed in the middle, we have to do everything possible to provide good forward pressure and keep the ball in there when we get it in.

If Clark doesn't come back in, Gawn stays - no doubt.

If Clark's available, one ruckman makes way IMO.

I feel the Jamar, Gawn (other talls) debate is the least of our worries. We're not winning enough of it in the midfield. It's the cold hard facts. The way we've been playing kick to the boundary, cause a stoppage, win stoppage, kick it further down boundary cause a stoppage and repeat strategy relies so heavily on first possession and midfield dominance. How we let Moloney get 36 touches is beyond me, poorly coached if you ask me. The fact that we rate Jones, Grimes and to a lesser degree Trenners as our best players, yet still are the worst midfield in the league is somewhat a kick in the guts.

Andrew Walker vs Jeremy Howe will be a matchup worth the price of entry. Curnow or Carrazzo to tag Jones. I dont see a matchup you guys have for any of our small forwards. Waite and Kruezer looking like they will be back for this game with Jamison rested and Gibbs out injured.

Blues by 113 points.

You reckon Waller is due his one speccy the season?

I'd love to bet against that margin. I honestly don't even think it'll reach the three figures tbh.

Carlton are a very good side and if we turn up with a appetite to compete for 4 quarters we will blow Melbourne right out of the water. Your highest score for the past 7 games has been 9.6.60.

Dan Nicholson is just as quick as Yarran or Garlett, and can also run for longer periods. Would be surprised if he doesn't play on either one of these. James Frawley will likely play on Betts. I'd be surprised if Waite plays either.

We haven't been destroyed since the opening weeks though. And you could argue the competition has been weaker for us since, but I'd like to think there's been some progress made. Keep in mind, this result could still become an 80+ point loss. But I don't think it'll hit three figures. We'll fight to prevent that, surely.

BTW: our highest score in the past 7 games. Not sure where you got 60 from. But we scored 14.10.94 this week. 22.12.144 the week beforehand. 13.5.83 the week before that. Round 1 and 2 were the only ones under 60.

Hotcox has a history of trolling Carlton and opposition supporters alike so I wouldn't take them too seriously :o

I highly doubt the margin will be 3 figures too, we just don't seem to go for the kill in games. The opposition is always a technical chance at least.

Listen here ya fu*ktard, take your113 back to your own board.
This is not a prediction thread you TWIT!

..yo.. ..i doubt that either waite or krooz will be in.. ..waite played his first vfl game, and will most likely need another run in the ressies to get fitness/touch.. ..krooz broke his thumb 2 games ago, even with the shortened rehab time, he's still 1 or 2 weeks away..

Minimal changes needed this week, i think we're starting to get a core group together and we need to get some games into them as a group, viney in for blease and clarke, or dawes if he's not fit, in for pederson

This, although for team balance I think we need another small defender in Strauss or Nicholson. One of them may come in for Blease if Viney needs another week off that ankle.

At the end of the day we can keep rotating out our c grade players but there not what's killing us ...

We need Sylvia , jones, jamar, Davey , frawley, garland , grimes an those guys to start being better than previous seasons an not just treading water .. ( jones excluded )

If you meant last 7 games against Carlton? than it would only be the last 4 we havent scored over 60, 2009 we scored 96.

I small positive if you will we have kicked 13,22 & 14 goals so at least the scoring has been up and hopefully we continue it against the Blues, nothing worse than getting flogged and watching us kick under 10 goals a game!

Lambs to the slaughter this week. We haven't gotten close to the Blues since Judd came over to the dark side. Can't see anything changing this week. Valiant effort against the Lions, but they were 16th on the ladder!!! It's sad when a team is happy with a 28 point loss to 16th on the ladder, but anyway...

IN

Nicholson - has pace and can go with Garlett or Yarran
Dunn - had a blinder on the weekend, so would come back you would think
Viney - straight back in if fit

OUT

Pederson - can't think of anything positive to say
Rodan - struggled again to find the footy or have any impact on the game
Davey - a bit rough as he's started as sub, but has had minimal impact

Doubt Clark will be fit and Dawes by all reports needs another week to get up match fitness. Could do with both against the Blues, but doubt we will get either. I'd play Strauss as well, but Neeld seems hellbent on not playing the kid. We need pace against Blues, so Blease stays in the side. Tapscott lucky to survive but is skating on thin ice. I like his aggression, but he has to start impacting games or he'll just be another wasted high draft pick. And keep Watts forward please!!!!

Why are some people saying Gawn should be dropped? He has played well and should be our #1 ruckman. Even if Jamar is better in the ruck, Gawn can be better if we let him be our #1 ruck. I know this hasn't worked for us in the past but I want to look in to the future, and Gawn is our future in the ruck.

IN: Dunn, Viney
OUT: Pedersen, Rodan

And Clark to replace Jamar if he is fit

Gawn has been great since coming into the seniors. If he is dropped for this match, I will shit on my membership card, light it on fire and put the ashes in an envelope marked "return to sender".

But you'd be the sender...?
