Bugger Nicho, get Strauss in the side. He can go with the smalls on the ground and in the air as well.

Keep Watts up forward, dump Pedersen and bring in Strauss to play back.

Yeah so no Clark... Dawes has to be a good chance to come in for Pedersen.

I don't know, he only played half a game in the VFL and took 2 marks for the day.

Pedo out anyway I think.

But play Watts forward with Gawn/Jamar and Howe, bring in Dunn and Strauss/Jetta/Nicholson to play on the smalls down back.

Going to get reamed so bring in any player that needs development (hate that word) and has a long term future on the MFC list.

With Clark out for 2 months, bring in Dawes for Pedo and get a few games into Fitzy.
But you'd be the sender...?
Aww.....crap!

Not sure what the point of dropping Blease would be? He looked (with Byrnes) just about our most dangerous player when he was given the ball I thought. Particularly against the blues who are way faster than us as it is. Yes, defending not his strong suit but bloody hell, give him a few damn weeks in the starting side, without being subbed (why was he subbed and not the completely absent Pedo, and when WATTS went up forward?)

I agree that he should probably be given a decent run of games, and that he is of course exciting with ball in hand, but it's what he does or doesn't offer the rest of the time that is the issue. He only gets maybe 10-12 possessions if he plays a full game, and in between times he brings very little defensive pressure or ability to keep up with an opponent in an endurance sense.

I'd love to see him succeed, because he's a really exciting type, but he's very limited at this stage.

If he's going to stay in the team (which maybe he should at Davey's expense, so that at least Aaron can play a full game or two in the VFL to get some fitness up), it should be as a dedicated small forward to make up for the lack of mobility in Gawn/Dawes/Jamar in providing some much needed pressure on the rebound. Byrnes can't really do it because he plays further up the ground and isn't a genuine FP type anyway. Davey probably doesn't have the tank to play that role for 4 quarters. Bail is also more of a flanker.

Blease should play there for no other reason than that's where he's had most success in his career so far - he kicked 5 against the Saints last year! Lord knows we could use a bit of excitement in the form of fluky boundary line goals.

Way to kill their confidence. Look at Toumpas. Need to have mercy on these young lads! ;) lol

Blease needs to be averaging 20+ possessions a game minimum, before he deserves a string of games.

9 or 10 touches a game is absolute rubbish.

I agree. We have been smashed in possessions for years now. Our players just have no hunger for the ball. I'd rather see Magner, Couch etc in the team who at least has hunger to find the footy. Until we start beating teams in the possession count, we will always be in the bottom end of the ladder.

Just on Blease. I think he is best suited to a wing. I don't think he can play that crumbing role in our F50. We really need to draft in some classy midfielders and some small crumbers next season. The game has changed again this season with a more offensive style. Teams are quicker this season than last. Every team in the comp except us have 2-3 small quick crumbing types in their 22. We have Davey who is 30+ years old and is starting as a sub and Blease who I feel is more of a wingman than a crumbing forward.

Blease just isn't fit enough. He uses his leg speed and goes for a run but if he turns it over, he doesn't have the tank to turn around and chase the ball the other way, and is too tired to land a strong tackle. He just looks stuffed all the time.

I love seeing him run, he is crazy fast, but he feels like a luxury we can't afford at the moment.

Maybe blease would make a good sub then, come on late in the 3rd and use his speed to an advantage against tired mids and backs (is it wishfull thinking to hope that he wouldn't need it up forward)

Oh I totally agree he should be used up forward. I guess at the moment though, the problem is getting it there. Also agree his 'output' is somewhat limited and that really needs to lift. Would love to see him put the afterburners on to chase someone down, the same way he uses them to speed away with the ball.

Pedo surely has to go. His game was one of the most absent I'd seen in a long time, of any team. He did kick that consolation goal but gee whiz. He was just non existent. When Watts went forward and with Gawn still on the ground, not sure what Pedo's role was. Not sure he was sure either

That's why I like Davey as a sub. Pretty much the same reason. Which is why it always used to infuriate me when Bater was given the council worker's vest..

Bottom line is that it's a crying shame that we are still having the same discussion about Blease that we did two years ago. He should have well and truly kicked on by now.

FTFY. It is infuriating how underdeveloped so many of our players are.
Although I didn't see all of last weeks game, going from what I saw (and you's have mentioned) Pedo should have a week in the twos. Looks like Fitzy may get a call up; Dunn too, although I'm not sure who'd go for him. We need players with pace to match the likes of Gartlett, Yarran, Armfield etc though I don't think we'll be able to cover them all. Gonna be a bloodbath if a focused Carlton comes to play I fear.

Spot on. And I'm over reading the same old shit about the same old players. Nobodies fault, just every week there is a changes thread it's the same players we are whinging about and the usual VFL standard players we want to bring in who rarely add anything to the side come game day.

It's a vicious cycle.

I know he's been on the list for a while, but he's only played 20 odd games.

2 years ago he had just played his first recovery game from a broken leg.

He's been underdone, needs to be given a chance to show what he did last season.

That's all well and good, but it doesn't change the fact he should have kicked on a bit by now. Last season he showed a bit, yet this year he has been pretty shit really. It's not good enough.

He's been no worse then any other of our small forwards really.

It's not a place where you go to prosper in our team at the moment.

He does need to lift though.

I only used Blease as the example as he was being discussed in this thread. Could be an example for far too many of our players.
