In: Grimes, King and Knights

Out: Astbury, Newman and Petterd

Rationale: Grimes is easily in our best six defenders and ahead of Astbury.

Newman looks injured - knee strapped and looked very awkward in his movement.

Petterd played his best footy for us last year playing in the back line. If there is no spot for him there then I don't think he should be in the team.

King provides the forward 50 pressure which I didn't see too much of against GC and knights will provide finishing skills we need.

Final note - pls play Jack in his rightful position of full forward. I know Hardwick wants a spread of goal kickers but perhaps vickery and griffiths need to be more damaging up the field as opposed to jack....

To me the most important player needing to come in, believe it or not is Knights. As a high half forward, he is smart, a great user of the ball but also his leadership. He really directs the mids in where to kick to, just watch him in the games he played. Every time there is a stoppage he is barking instructions at a forward half stoppage.

To me I would take Foley out and replace him with Knights. I would leave the rest in, bottom line, Astbury/Griff, and Mc Dough<sp> need a block of uninterrupted games to tell us if they are starting 22 players. Tyrone i would put on notice, if he performs as selfishly as the weekend against carlton i would put him in the VFL for 6 weeks to send him and others a really strong message.

To the fools saying drop Foley, why?
Nine disposals in 24 minutes of football.
Zero impact? What the hell are you all talking about? Stop the groupthink.

Its not the disposals mate its just that he is a mid and easier to replace. look at those 9 disposals in 24 minutes, how many entries inside 50 ? How many tackles ? How efficient was his disposal ? A guy with his experience, and god help us the contract he is on demands that he creates a impact when he plays. He created zero.

I love foley and have have defended the view to give him time but in a game where he was matched up against kids, he should have done what cotchin and lids did. He should have fought, he should have brought others into the game, as his experience is higher them most of the people on the park. The worry was that he did not and still does not. It is the main reason he did not play that final. Maybe his injuries have caused him to go to deep into a shell but the Foley of old was a Morris type, aggressive at the ball and man and would hunt the goals. He does not do that any more.

Astbury is a massive spud under any form of pressure. Would rather see a witches hat then him in the backline.

According to AFL official stats.

FOLEY

Disposal efficiency: 88.9 per cent (equal highest)
Possession as a function of time on ground: (equal second with Brett Deledio)
Clearances: 2 (equal sixth)
Entries inside 50: 1 (equal 16th)

The only stat he failed on was tackles. That's because he was getting the ball. If you want scapegoats, there are plenty more worthy candidates.

Realistic Changes:

Out: Griffiths, Foley, McDonough

In: A Edwards, King, Knights

What the changes should be:

Out: Petterd, Foley

In: King, Knights

Honestly mate. I have loved Nathan forever but he had no impact what so ever in the last quarter. His biggest asset use to be his speed but he seems to have lost that.

I think you missed my point. Foley in his prime was a attacking Midfielder and he also created a lot of inside 50's. Now and its a worrying trend, Foley has changed the way he plays. He is no longer in and under, he seems to favor the outside and rarely if at all attacks. All im stating, and the above stats back it up, Foley should be a premier mid in our side, he is not. Now mostly its due to lack of confidence he has in his body but he needs to go back to his natural game pre injury.

Foley has zero impact, and thats a major concern. Look at thomas, same age as Foley, on a whole lot less coin but added more value then foley did. IMO Foley needs to forget his injuries and attack a contest more then he is. Thats the reason I find it easier to replace him then our other mids as he does not have age on his side like a conca for example.

I was speaking to a mate about foley as I was always a lover of how he played. maybe the coach needs to play him forward as a defensive forward. Get him to beat a few opponents and win a few contests to re build his confidence. Maybe my view is a bit harsher because I loved how Foley gave 120% at every contest but he now, to me, seems he holds back a lot.

foley was good when he came on he wont be dropped, every man and his dog complained when he was left out against carlton last time, so wtf he is one of very few that can break away into space now we are whiteless, if jacko is ready he will come in for macdonough

OUT: Petterd, Foley, Newman, mcddonughehgh
