If we are going for wins over development at the moment calls to go in with only one recognised ruckman worries me. I think we saw the danger illustrated clearly in one passage of play in the last quarter. Toyd goes in the ruck. The ball goes into our forward line and there are zero marking tagets. comes straight out, goes to Reiwoldt who put the ball into the saints goal square, Toyd goes up but does nothing, Bruce marks and goals. It was lose/lose. Tom Boyd in the ruck means we have no structure up forward and we gain an ineffective ruckman. If we drop a few games and finals are out of the question then give Tom some ruck time to improve but not now.
I thought the exact same thing. Minson would have killed that ball. Tom didn't.

And Thomas ;)

And Menzel. Docherty could miss too which would be a big loss.

I'll be gutted if Docherty is out as well as Menzel. My 2 favourite blues to watch and my mates 7 year old son (who is joining us) is a mad Docherty fan. I would like to win but I'd like to watch some of your better players on the deck at least :(

I want to win and get pick #7...................and then take the next Selwood instead.

........but as long as we don't finish 14th and take the next Jarrad Grant.............can you imagine?
We came 13th and picked Grant at pick 5

Pretty sure St Kilda or Melbourne or Port are a better chance at getting pick 7 than you guys unless you trade

Looked like a king yesterday. Took several A-Grade marks and kicked 6 goals...............you've heard this before, haven't you? :)

Jones can play but it has to be in a very specified and geared role. Anything outside the 50 mt. arc and it falls to bits.
Unless you're Clinton Young.

It was sort of a metaphor but............

If you guys did the right thing and let us take Boyd this year I would have liked you..............but you've really made a mess out of all that.

Look forward to our two 194cm ruck-men go head to head..............Cripps & Bontempelli :)

Everyone hates our mob.......................even I hate them but I'm stuck :)

Carlton have little to lose given our position, so it's likely to be a pretty open game. Good for supporters.

Would be great to have 40K to this game. It's possible.

We're good for the 10k, can you bring 30k?

Haven't you been reading the main board mate. Boyd is a slow, soft dud who'll never improve. Dodged a bullet.

Not soft....not slow and for me maybe not as dynamic as Hogan but if he can average out 3-4 goals a game, he's doing more than enough.....and he will.

Pssst. I've got news for you mike, the main board is inhabited by Bootsma type mouth breathers. Stay away.

Boys we are the top Eight Team...

Our strength is our ball movement....Speed and guts in moving the ball.

So outs are.

Dale-Done not much wrong but needs a rest
Minson-Looked not interested Sat night
Boyd-Rested give him the week off
Webb-Hate wrighing that love this kid but Crameri loves the Blues

Inns are.

Hrovatt
-Should not have been dropped was team balance
Redpath-Deserves his chance again
Daniel-Again deserves a go and will add pace and movement
Crameri-will kick 5

Key match-ups

Henderson-Morris
Casboult-Roberts

Cripps-Wallis
Murphy-Picken

They will need to try and tag JJ,Murphy,Bonti,Dal,

Then Hrovatt,McCrae,Stevens,Daniel,McLean, will run them in circles

Forward set up...

McLean---Crameri---Dal
Stringer---Redpath--Daniel

There's always an excuse......injury.....tired bodies.....incorrect selections.....poor coaching.....poor umpiring....etc etc.

I couldn't believe just how disinterested and scared of playing football we were in the first half of the year.
We're not a great team (which is obvious) but should at worst be mid-table........with or without Judd.

Think we'll be seeing a little more speed injected in the Carlton side this week........but don't worry........we'll leave Jones out for another week. :)
Agree you guys aren't as bad as you were under mick. Not even close.

But if a team wants to play finals though (and listening to the drink, he clearly wants it pretty bad), they should be beating you guys without Gibbs and judd. We have a healthy list, a 7 day break and have players in form.

I'm not saying we are a finals team, but if we're to be a legitimate finals contender, a game like this just has to be won.

Mick was looking long term and now we've again gone short term......anyway, that makes for another story.

No game has to be won from one team any more than it has to be done from the other.
We didn't hit GC hard last week but watch out this week. Keep an eye out on Holman. He's an animal.

I'll say 38K and maybe even more. Game has many reasons to bring fans along...............I for one, can't wait.
I thought the game on the weekend were reasons for both sides to rock up, then during the last quarter the attendance come up as 26,511, about 2 minutes later St Kilda thanked its 7,163 members for turning up on the night. I knew there wasn't many of them, but just over 7k geezers disappointing for them and it was a member replacement game for us and we sat level 3, probably 10k of us up there.

If there's over 35K I'll be extremely surprised however, our members/fans haven't rocked up this year even with the improvement and it's disappointing on that part for someone who goes most weeks when we play in Melbourne. We haven't had the luxury of Friday night footy, but we have had better timeslots than last year in all of our home games except against Freo and Adelaide, 22k vs WCE, 29K vs St Kilda, 16K vs GWS (very disappointing, grudge match and all) and 21k vs Brisbane.

The balance is just right for a good attendance and along with it being a Saturday night game, it will be well attended and good money in your pocket.

Playing 4-5 taggers a week and not giving blokes like Graham a run was not a long term approach imo, it was a defence strategy as Mick had no confidence in the depth of players that he had, if Mick went the long term approach he would've played the kids, not drafted/traded in 21-23 year olds and not gifted games to list cloggers due to them having more experience while "protecting" the kids in the VFL.

Anyways, if Crameri is ready he comes back, maybe for Grant, maybe for Dale. If Minson's out it's for Redpath, not Cordy.

45k is money, doubt we'll see those numbers again until we have entrenched ourselves as a top 6 side for a few years/get a few Friday nighters along with that. Back in 09-10 we got 45k+ regularly against Collingwood, Essendon, St Kilda, Richmond etc, probably around 40k for you guys and Hawthorn.

Send the message out.............The Dogs are cool.

Why wouldn't a Dogs supporter/member want to go and see the boys play on a Saturday night? Crazy.

Hmmm

Crameri IN - Dale OUT
Daniels IN - Minson OUT

Roughie to ruck 80%/20% by Boyd. Rough drops back, Roberts goes forward, his marking overhead impresses me, his attributes are in stark contrast to Boyd, i believe this kind of mix and match for short stints would throw Carlton for a loop just long enough to impact, then switch it back.

yes, i am outside the box right now... it's cold here.

Must've alienated a few during the McCartney reign and possibly the AFL also for the rubbish Sunday treatment we copped, if we have poor crowds against you guys and Collingwood in the next couple of weeks then a roast thread on this board is in order.
