Will be pretty harsh of Ross if he did considering Clancee has a hammy injury

Out - D.Pearce, N.Suban, Griffin ( Only if Clarke is 100% )
In - Tucker ( Finally ), Clarke, Blakely ( If his toe is ready to go otherwise D. Pearce stays in )

I like that we are giving the kids a go and Weller is gaining each game from his experience. A.Pearce needs to have the same amount of time as well as Tabs.

Langdon had a quiet game but he is quick and has good disposal like Weller so the more games that we get into him the better. I think that we should have Clarke having an extended run in the ruck ( If he is fully fit ) as Griff just does not seem to be sitting it with those who have a good leap. He usually racked up good numbers in goals and possession but there is something wrong this year.

D.Pearce and Suban have been good clubmen for an extended period but their disposal and lack of right feet ( as well as speed these days ) has left us exposed on the wings. I also think that Sutcliffe is going downhill and that Tucker is a lock to replace him on the back flank by the mid point of the year.

Fingers crossed that Mora and Ape man can get extended runs in the WAFL as our team needs both of them in as soon as we can get them in. Mayne has had an awful start to the year but you can never questions his endeavour. I think that once Yarran and Bennell are up to speed he is going to be the man who is under the most pressure because of his awful goal kicking.

This week is interesting in selection, next week when Peel have had another run will be even more so. Good luck Freo!

If there is a surprise omission it might be Sutcliffe. Afl.com.au has an article about what players in each team lead their team for disposals resulting in opposition scores. Sutcliffe was up there in terms of the entire league with his turnovers costing 32 points. Hill was our leading turnover player.

Though most rebounding HBFers lead that list. Even some guys considered in AA form. I think handball clangers are the real problem. Most teams have 1-3 a game. I think we have plenty and is really not a difficult skill to execute.

Pavlich will play as even though it's Carlton we 100% have to win this.
I though we surely can win without pav against carlton isint it with fyfe spending more time there. Will like to see how good d.Pearce if we surprisely drop hill against carlton.

This, and as a few others have said I don't think we should be thinking "yay draft picks" just yet. Bottom 4 is still a shite year for fans, for player development and for convincing anyone come trade time that we're the place to be.
We've looked better each game if only in patches so even bringing in new players some wins are coming and if it's a choice between finishing 7 - 8th and getting pick 11/12 or finishing 10 - 11 and pick 8/9 I'll still take finishing the year with finals experience.
I'm happy to finish middle order if that's what it takes to set this team up going forward. The absolute given though is wherever we end up it has to be by finding out how many of our young players are ready to play AFL.
totally agree.

Don't think he'll be dropped on the basis of an AFL.come article.

But I hope you're right. It's Tucker time.

Why would Freo rest Pav it's his last year we aren't going deep into finals , not like we have to save him for the end of the year.
More about giving younger player afl experience and trying to win against weaker opposition without him.

Well, that is because none of other backmen other than Hill/Spurr actually kick the ball.

We NEED a win, though. Not just for ladder position but also for confidence. I don't think they're in the position to be judging opposition as "weaker" or taking anything for granted given our 0-4 slate.

Since freo paying suban wages for afl match , I don't think dropping him to wafl is good idea . they might all turn out like Colin slyvia and just take the pay out.

I want Suban dropped but disagree with this. He'll stay hungry and I reckon having him and DeBoer/Mzungu/C.Pearce down there will make the other players accountable. They are soldiers of Ross Lyon even when they aren't playing for him. I reckon they'd get the young guys a gauge to get level and then passed them.

I completely agree mate.
Nah hannath will play again for freo , we might not like it but I think he will play at least one more for freo. He really try very hard on field just lack of speed put him down.

I think he'll get another go but if Ethan Hughes does well in his next game then Sutty could be in some trouble. Tucker might be gunning for his spot too. FWIW I think Ibbo is in worse form and should be under similar scrutiny.

I don't think we'll see any outs today, just three ins. Probably just Tucker, Clarke and another (raffle 5-6 players) to be added to last weeks starting 22. Only Tucker and Clarke will actually have a chance of making the cut when the final squad is named tmr.

That is from what I know ATM. We may have a niggle from training and/or we are resting Pav.
