When the ball is wet and slippery it's real hard to kick it real straight because of the slipperiness and often just pinballs around on the ground, so what's more effective is just slapping the goose forward at all costs. Enter Subinator.

Don't want to be pedantic and go off topic but disagree. Wet days are where truly skilled guys excel, can make a huge difference with clean play/entries and particularly guys up fwd that can mark. Lower scores mean every clean scoring opportunity is worth double.
Get ur point about suban though, better him being one of the 'grunt-men' than a lightly framed our outside mid

If it's wet Suban will stay in; it's when his artless get-the-ball-forward-at-all-costs style is most effective.
Unfortunately, that's pretty much negated by his 'the ball is on the ground and I'm going to jump on it and give away a free kick' style. I'm going to call 5 HTB decisions against him if it's wet and he plays.

The only guys that should be losing their spots are underperforming senior players that need to go back to wafl and learn how to kick/handball with some sort of efficiency. I don't want to see langdon, crozier, taberner etc. dropped

OMG. I wish I could like this a million times.

Just absolutely spot on. By seasons end, we are going to have a very different best 22 and there will be a bunch of new names

Love the changes. Never thought would happen, but the coaches clearly getting the message.
With Clarke, why would you want him into a game that is supposedly wet? Hardly a solid foundation to come back in, particularly with his knee issues. Rather wait an extra week. Besides, in current form, he isn't that much better then Tabs. This isn't the Zarke of 2012/13.
Ibbo out is huge. But also like that neither of Mzungu or De Boer are named. Suban/Mzungu/De Boer all dropped? Say it ain't so.

Totally, how long has it taken to bite the bullet. I just don't get why they have been so conservative.

Ibbo has been shizen this season. Early last week he had the opportunity to knock the ball thru off the ground for a rushed behind. He missed the ball and ended up flat on his stomach. Higgins picked up and snapped a goal. More an athlete than a footballer.

Who would you play in his spot? How many AA nominations have those 'footballers' received?

Ibbo has been a great player for the club. Sure, hasn't had a great start to the year but neither has any one else.

I remember his superb form back in 2013 which was cut down by injury. I believe he could of been the difference in the GF.

"History means nothing," said some arseclown.

Ibbo's spot has some of the most exciting prospects competing for it. He's got Hughes and Mora with their hammers on him. Also Grey and Tucker. We're in a transitional phase and the past means nothing if players are underperforming.

He is not performing to his previous level, but is still outperforming others imo. I'd drop Spurr for the players you mentioned, for example. Ibbotson's best is elite.

I would be cautious about how many new faces to bring into defense at the one time, epsecially at this time of year when there is some flicker of life in the season. Plenty of time for anyone to force their way in.

I also don't think the big question marks are about the newly re-signed Spurr or Ibbotson, but more about the ideal position for A Pearce and how Sutcliffe and Sheridan fit. Would happily bring in some other players and don't see MJ or Dawson playing the entire season.

Collins and Uber getting games for either MJ or Dawson. These guys would be being groomed for significant 2017 game time if they show they are anywhere near ready.

Morabitto, Tucker, Hughes and Grey sliding in for some time while Sheridan and Sutcliffe are trialled in other roles. Any of these 4 could become best 22 by seasons end, and I suggest Mora and Tucker just have to keep progressing as they have been for that to happen (obviously not a simple thing for Mora).

Liking the three ins but really want to see Suban get the axe. He barely averages 13 touches a game over his 133 game career. Langdon and Weller are getting around that mark after a handful and they are both more highly skilled than Subes.

I am another who thinks Ibbo is terribly out of form at the moment. Just can't seem to read the flight of the ball and he's never been known for his lightning decision making.

At the very least it is some kind of message for him.

Yes, this no doubt.

He had a solid game against WC I thought, other than that, he's in very poor form. He really seems to be struggling with slightly different positioning and game play. He gets caught out an awful lot, is not judging the ball or the play which has always been a major asset of his and he's been fairly ordinary with ball in hand (not that has ever been a major weapon, but it's been solid over the last year or so).

My guess is he'll stay in for now, but he's in the sights.

Reckon Langdon will get dropped. He's had a fairly good run for a few games. Another youngster will come in (prob Tucker) and Ed will play for Peel and get used to getting more of the ball again before coming back up - I'm OK with that. He's been OK, but hardly setting the world on fire.

Basically just said the same thing in the post above (hadn't read your post) - I'm a fan of Ibbo, always have been, but his form is no doubt down. There's a few in the team that could be playing a lot better, he's not the only one, but he has stood out these first few rounds.
