Who'd have thought at the start of this season that we may end up getting more out of Mayne than Wells?

Hopefully Varcs is right as he's clearly the best replacement for Wells in the side and he makes us a better side whenever he plays.

Give Daics another week as he did enough and his class with ball in hand can lead to extra scoring opportunities. High impact player.

Sounds like Sier and Murray didn't bash the door down last week so why upset a balanced team for the sake of a debut? I want them both in the team and playing well but I want to smash Carlton even more. Murray in particular seems to need a good spell in the VFL to work on some of the flaws in his game.

Reid is basically a back up only as far as I'm concerned. If Mihocek or Dunn were out for any reason I'd rather we blood McLarty, unless there is a match up that clearly works better for Reid.

I hope we bury Carlton under cement and build a strip mall over the top.

Not sure why we'd bring a bloke back in who has been average at best in the twos (Murray) and at the same time ness with what has been a very good thing for us (Crisp coming out of the back half)?

If Murray comes back in eventually it will be for Greenwood, not to push Crisp up onto the wing again.

Crisp stays where he is for the rest of his career, with any luck. He keeps going unheralded in the media but gets it done every week and is an outstanding runner. Love him.

Had an absolute shocker.

Gets the ball, tucks it under the arm, sprints 10 metres then panickly bangs it onto the boot straight onto an opposition chest.
Bigfooty reactionary timeline...

Trade week . ...... WTF?
Round 3................Hines a genius!
Present.................WTF?

He's sure stinking it up. Hope he can develop another string to the bow.

Turns out the Maybe deal has been more successful than Wells! Unbelievable!

There's plenty there to work with - just needs a good dose of composure and that will come with time.

While we do see more kids making an impact and largely holding their position in the best 22 nowadays at AFL level it doesn't happen often down in the back line, where rookie mistakes are magnified (especially in the modern game).

I'm still extremely critical of the price we paid to get him, but I'm also confident that he'll pan out given another year or two (have to remember he is still only 20 and coming off a mostly non-standard development pathway).

I just get the feeling we will be conservative with our Hamstring injuries given the recent setbacks. With that in mind I reckon;

In: Crocker
Out: Wells

Wouldn't surprise me if Blair or someone comes in until one of Varcoe, Elliott etc. are ready to come in :mask:
It would surprise me actually.
I think Blair is stamped now as at best a carry over emergency player.
That type anyway.

Only played about half the games last year. Played what one or two games this year? He’s been passed by Thomas for one, and the club is now looking more preferably at Daicos, Brown, Greenwood (always the case), Aish.
I suspect Sier though different is preferred too.

I think the Carlton game is the perfect opportunity to give Sier a taste of senior footy.
Elliott, Moore etc should at least play one week in the magoos.
Bring on the bear.
Sounds a good plan.

Be a good intro for him.

Though if Varcoe is right, suspect he gets the nod as the logical replacement.

Jesus christ no.

Agreed. Although not awesome, he hasn't been awful. If you're bringing anyone in I'd like to give them an extended run at least to get up to the level unless they've been complete shit house a couple games in a row

Just thought I'd add my voice to the crowd saying persist with Daicos for now. Enough evidence that he may become a really handy player for us and his contribution is reasonably clearly above a level where he's being carried.

As for changes, we obviously lose Wells and I don't really get what Greenwood contributes, maybe a more tactically astute watcher than me could let me know if I'm wrong. Perhaps its a matchup thing but I'd strongly consider swapping him for Appleby or Murray.

Not if they're using VFL form as any sort of a guide. He was very ordinary against Casey.

Out Mihocek Greenwood
In Reid Varcoe

Varcoe for Wells probably the only change,I would like to See Sier given a run as reward for VFL form and Appleby did not deserved to be dropped anyway. With the way the team is going it is hard to justify any unforced changes which is a good sign.

HA!

Last sentence is pure gold.

Greenwood stays in the team, like his new role in the backline along with Maynard, they both add physicality and attack on the footy complements other defenders in Howe and Scharenberg.

I would like to see Reid play a few games in the seconds, with Mihocek finding some form, should be selected on form in the VFL.

Varcs comes in for Wells - Wells will struggle to come back from another setback even he is up against it.
