We will get the job done, I believe we are up there in the contention bracket and teams that are at this time of the year DO NOT lose to teams absolute dead last and in the state that Carlton are in.

If we lose bring on 2019, Sack the coach, Sack the team, Sack the administration and even the supporters should have a good look at ourselves.

There's a lot of risk in this game for Bolton. Follow up last weeks effort with a spanking by Collingwood and Bolton can just about kiss the job good bye. I agree they'll set up defensively to stop that happening. That said Freo tried the same and it didn't make much difference so lets see what pans out.

They recently extended him and they surely don't have the money to do an about-face. Nope, for better or for worse, they're in it together for the long haul.

What they might have to kiss goodbye to is Silvagni's idea that this will be a "66 game rebuild". We can help with that by shelling them into the ground Sunday...

I hope we start with degoey and adams in the middle and set the tone early. I expect carlton to have a red hot go early.

Did you say that in 2010 when Blair Maccaffer Dawes Brown and Reid progressively took the place of Lockyer Medhurst Presti O'Bree and Fraser?

In 2010 (as with now), they were mainly forced changes through injury or form but we still picked the best available side. I'm more than happy to see players given opportunities but none of the guys being thrown up (Sier, Wills, McLarty) showed enough during the Casey game to merit a senior game ahead of a returning Varcoe if he's fit. Sadly for them, timing is everything.

Isn’t Bolton an employee of the club rather than being under a contract? I think they can sack him anytime without any big payout.
Edit-no, I’m wrong, again.

No-because those players were not playing to the level they once did. Who do you suggest we cut from the current line up for McLarty, Sier, Wills etc..?

Only one change is necessary Varcoe in for Wells. And if Scharanberg is feeling a bit tired then Reid could come in for him,if fit.
He just had a week off for the bye, no player should be feeling a bit tired this week.

I never said all three should come in.

But more than happy for one of them (or Brown or even Murray) to come in for Wells this week, with Varcoe and Reid to resume via the VFL. Up to Varcoe and Reid to force their way back in from there.

The club has very strategically and deliberately been giving developing players an extended opportunity in recent years and we are starting to see the benefits with the likes of Phillips Maynard Crisp Scharenberg Thomas Cox and Langdon gradually becoming established 50+ gamers and key senior players. The club has also given extended opportunites this year to Aish Crocker Murray Brown Daicos Appleby and Mihocek.

It only stands to reason that Sier and Wills are next in line to be given an opportunity. McLarty less so, being a tall, he'll need more time.

Form is more than one game though. Sier and Wills have been outstanding this year. Timing is everything though so maybe Varcoe is an automatic in. I'm not convinced he is or should be.

Both Sier's and McLarty's form was very good, then they both got injured. Now they've returned they need to recapture that form. Wills has been hot and cold.

They only missed a week each with injury as far I can recall. The senior players in the mix to return have been out far longer than that.

And the senior players returning from longer breaks have a much greater resume to support their preferred selection if available.
