Changes vs Carlton

Our defence is immeasurably better with Schofield in it. Makes Barrass an Gov look good while eclipsing the key forwards. Dont be an idiot Simmo.
Have to agree. Looks better balanced

God help us if Hutchings misses again. Cripps will tear us a new one and potentially win the game off his own boot.

In Hutchings, Hurn
Out Waterman, Watson

Seriously man, do you ever think the Eagles could win a game of footy? It's ****en tedious.

Will be interesting over the next few weeks. There's a few obvious changes coming up, and a few less obvious from best 22. But you can guarantee there will be more injury so it's never as simple as it looks.

Cripps > Cameron
Duggan > Watson
Hurn > Schofield (maybe)
Hutch > ?? (Nelson??)

Is it just me or does Waterman always look exhausted?

Someone mentioned in this thread that his WAFL and AFL roles are different and that could explain his current lack of motor at AFL level.

I remember early last year he was doing really well in a link role but I assume his switch to full time forward at WAFL level and longer playing time there has affected his stamina. He hasn't played much AFL this year and to be honest I only really noticed it in today's game.

Third. To me Schofield is the one player who always knows what his role is in defence. Lock down defender on opposition key forward. Doesn't care what his game looks like. Happy to play ugly with zero disposals to get the job done.

I'd like us to find a way to integrate him into the team full time for the last few games and finals. I don't think it will be easy given Hurn, Crippa, Dugg and Hutch all need to come back. Don't want to see something like Sheed pushed to HF to accommodate.

Going by the Simmo statement in post 1... Hurn and Hutch to be available.

Hutch comes in to tag Cripps. Waterman misses out.
Hurn comes in. That means either Watson or Schofield misses out. Schofield has been very good but the too tall and loss of mobility (mobile for a tall, but still less so than the medium/small guys) could be an issue. Weather could play a part in the decision.
Cameron looks like he needs a rest. Maybe Ah Chee to come in.

Hutch would get ragdolled by Cripps
Better Yeo goes head to head with him

It's at Marvel

Think Watson and Waterman will be the unlucky ones to miss out. Hurn and Hutchings back in. Schofield is a key next week to take the pressure off Barrass and McGovern. Good to hear Duggin and Cripps are only 1 or 2 away also.

Hurn In is about the only certainty.

Carlton don’t play as many small forwards with pace so Schofield may hold his spot. The least of the defenders was Watson but a couple of his clangers were due to hospital handpasses and he can feel unlucky.

I cannot understand all the criticism on Waterman. His second half especially was pleading and he is doing his link up role well. Cameron was our worst forward but still did good things. Waterman does not play tall so I’m not in the camp that gets worried on height. Our team kicked 19 goals and worked well as a unit so we can arguably leave it unchanged.

In terms of tagging, Yeo to go head to head with Cripps. Don’t want Hutchings on him - Yeo has proven this year he can play an accountable mid role.

If Hutchings is in, its probably to play on Simpson to stop the run out of forward line.

Looking forward to this match, not expecting a win but will be good to go and measure our progress against a genuine top 2 team. What's the noise on hurn? Except to play?
He was touch and go for yesterday so we can only assume he will be right to play next week.

As mentioned above,
Out: Waterman
In: Hurn
Jacko to Cripps
Hutch should be back . I think we play hutch on simpson like he did with impey and get nelson to tag murphy .

Both seem invigorated playing under a new coach and a massive part of their recent success.

Yeo and redden to work over cripps as they are the only 2 big enough to counter cripps . The best way to counter cripps is to beat him at the coal face

Yep keep Schoey in now.

Schofield - Barrass - Jetta
Sheppard - Gov - Hurn

Blues forwards are

McKay - Tommy B
Casboult - Gov
Gibbons - Sheppard
Gov Jnr - Schoey
Lang - Hurn
Silvagni - Jetta

If they play Gov jnr Schoey has a matchup...

I’m a little worried they’ll drop Will at first look 😬
