I actually like Hamill but his concussions have stalled his career and difficult to see him coming back to a good level sadly

Would be a typical AFC call though. Pick the player with the least upside.

What we will get is someone not afraid to take the game on. Something that is lacking at present.

Hahaha called it weeks ago the thumb was so keen to get Hamill in the team, part of the random group of honest ‘triers’ Nicks is obsessed with. One of the dumbest selection decisions ever at this club even among some absolute doozies by them.

Hamill is and always has been a headless chook with little football IQ, and that’s nothing to do with all the head knocks he’s just always been nothing more than a Sunraysia Football League level footballer who should’ve been weeded out of the elite underage football if not for possessing some random athletic traits.

Nicks is so future adverse he actually has gone out of his way to champion for a player on the rookie list who won’t be at the club in 2025, what’s more a player who was delisted last season but kept on the list only because the club admin wanted to be seen as nice guys/like to treat the club finances like their own personal money and didn’t want to payout the funds without having any return of services with them.

Oskar Ryan was better against South than Hamill, wtf. Heck, even Melbourne is handing out a debut this week. Just recycling the same old players, absolutely no desire to try any new draftee. Extremely frustrating.

Dawson is a long way off his best right now. Send him to a half back flank/wing in the hopes that a little extra time will allow some more finesse with his kicks. Limited mid time at most.

Give Strachan 4-5 straight games in the team. If he fails to deliver, delist at the end of the season.

Drop Laird. I don't understand the fascination by some with putting him back to a half back flank. His kicking has been pretty dreadful lately, so I don't see him succeeding there right now.

According to some, Curtin looks like he's carrying an injury, which is why I haven't included him.

I am keenly aware that there is no selection integrity at this club, so I have no real expectations of getting what I want.

If Cook or Nankervis get dropped, I want the collective heads of the selection committee on spikes.

Nicks seems so adamant that the only issue has been our 'system execution', so continues to be reluctant to any sort of significant change. He was happier with our system execution against Melbourne too, so only sees the need for 'small tweaks' and at most '1-2 changes to personnel'. I stopped listening to his presser then or I'll go mad.

Hamill had 10 ****ing touches against South and was probably in our bottom 6 players on the day. Ryan and Curtin were miles better if you’re looking to replace Parnell. They are completely ignoring any form from that game and solely basing selection decisions on pre season training form (Nicks mentioned this when he brought up Hamill without even being asked).

We wouldn't want a kid to debut when we're going badly. That would be a really tough gig.

Of course, we can't change a winning team so they can't debut when we're going well either.

That just leaves an injury opening, providing there is also a simultaneous injury to the most senior back up

Nicks had to mention training form to justify Hamill.

I suspect Hamill is known and trusted more than other options. He will give you a 3-6/10 performance, but get delisted at the end of this year or next.

Curtin or Ryan could give you a 2-7/10 performance and get some needed gametime and senior experience, but we simply are risk adverse.
