"The gameplan is fine, the players just aren't executing."

"So we should drop some and try others who might execute better?"

"Good lord no."
He's one of those coaches who believes a successful gameplan requires "cohesion", which means the same blokes playing as much as possible. Form is irrelevant, if you just keep trying it'll eventually click.

It's turned into a gamblers mentality almost, if I keep betting on 9 in roulette it'll have to eventually hit and then i'll be a winner!

wow very inspiring selections

for weeks Nicks has said we have players out of form, however he keeps selecting the same out of form players

in last weeks post match press conference Nicks went as far as saying that he needs to bring people in the team who can play the way the team needs to play……. where are these changes ?

Nicks is lost at selection. he has no depth and injuries have hit and continue to hit. Had Parnell not been injured he probably would have played again and Gollant would be the only change. I dont think its got anything to do with throwing the magnets around. Nicks is throwing games at every mature body or players with games experience he has left to see if he can buy a win.

I bet he spends his days chasing Sloanes availability and is hanging on Murphy, Schoenberg coming back from injury. I can see Sholl being given more games as well.

Assuming we lose, I can already see Sloane coming in for some unlucky young bloke like Nank, Cook etc...

Nicks now reached the point where not only are we not moving forwards, he's actually dragging the team backwards. And i'm not just talking about wins and losses, he's actively harming the development of most young players on the list with a poor gameplan, refusal to debut players or give most of them bigger roles. He is coaching like a desperate man and I think everyone can smell it.

Its his first true test. Before he could get away with poor coaching under the guise of poor player form and inexperience. Last year we chased finals and just missed. He got the benefit of the doubt under the positive PR. But he got greedy and now he exposed his coaching because the squad has the expectation of finals. He is a poor coach and simply lived off natural progression more than development.

Basically his coaching is for all to see and he is a Mark Neeld wannabe.

Prior to the Geelong game, Dowling, Curtin, Ryan and Bond had showed little in the preseason hit outs. Were you at Alberton when most of the KIDS come on after the third period? The standout player was Ned the whipping boy.
Curtin struggled in the Ones.

I will just go and check what your team was for Round One. Mine had Nankervis in instead of Sholl. Since then we have played one SANFL game.

I wanted Dowling and Nankervis in for the Melbourne match but frankly we only have a group of very raw kids (Bond, Curtin, Ryan, Edwards and Gallagher) plus a group of players that virtually no one on this Board wants in the team (Himmelberg, Berry, Parnell, Hamill, Strachan, Sholl, Murphy etc). Like everyone else, I like the concept of Pedlar but he has been really bad during the preseason and the first three matches.
I’m not fussed who it is playing well in the sanfl.
But I feel like more emphasis needs to be on poor AFL efforts, smith had 3 of the worst games he’s ever played and it was still not enough so see him depart, (yet pedlar goes)

Also how is it that Nicks blames players for losses and then doesn't back it up at the selection table?

Is it because he is totally full of s**t? Yes Matthew.

Clear, strong and consistent messaging is a sign of effective and positive leadership.

Our coaching panel contradict themselves and each other from day to day, interview to interview, action to action.

No wonder we are such a shitshow.

This would be the most obvious and point question for a journalist to ask him.

The signing of Nicks is only proving to get dumber as the weeks role on.

SANFL players have to demand selection.

But established AFL players don't.

The problem with the journalists in Adelaide is they've been recruited as ambassadors for Port and Adelaide. Which means of late, aside from random radio and tv comments throwing criticism at the club, no journalists seem interested in taking Adelaide apart for this clear mismanagement. As fans we rely on Cornes, Rowe and others to rip the club to shreds on our behalf but they don't. Rowe says a lot but then when an interview presents itself, he can't tickle the balls fast enough. So the club is simply left to the mercy of Vic footy media and sadly thats far enough away that it can be ignored.
