In Broughton & Walters
Out Crowley (injured) & Hinkley (Crab with no skills)

It's amazing how one little thing can take away all credibility from a post.

Hinkley took the game on, and was always running hard. He made a couple of mistakes in the first half, but he made up for it in the second half. His game was better than some of Hill and Suban's so far this year, but we have persisted with them. Hinkley should be playing the rest of the games this season.

Murphy is consistently disapointing, but it seems if he kicks one goal a game he has earn't his place for next week.

I haven't seen enough of the WAFL guys to comment on who should step up in the place for an injured Crowley.

However as long as it's not Gilmore or Head...I can tolerate almost anyone.

How bloody long do we have to wait till Ballatyne is ready, I think he will have a serious impact.

Hinkely should be persisted with, no players benefit from being in and out of the team...You need to give them a solid crack, if they fail delist and move on.

However I agree that he hasn't really shown anything yet, he has pace but his foot skills leave allot to be desired.

I also don't believe at any stage this year he has had a better game than either Hill or Suban.

He hasn't had a real chance yet this year, playing just the 3 games. But we all saw what he can do last year, particularly in the last game where he got a Brownlow vote.

I don't see major problems with his foot skills, if anything I think his handballing is worse, as he seems to put a lot of air on them. I can't remember who it was to, but he had an excellent kick inside 50 right into the space for the leading forward.

Maybe he hasn't been better than Hill or Suban, but his game yesterday was on par with Hill and Suban's early games. Harvs said he would persist with those two, so Hinkley should get the same treatment.

With confidence comes improved skills, dropping him now after he has tried to take the game on and made a few mistakes will only severly dent his confidence.

This is so true... Hinkley hasnt actually shown anything in any game to suggest he will be a good player. He may be fast but he doesnt have useful quickness if that makes sense.... Play him for a few more games and hopefully he finds his feet.

Yep, Chinks is starting to come good.

All eyes should be on how Fossie goes today in the centre for the sharks.

Should be a record crowd as Antony Kyanga's Gran , Dad , brothers & sisters are making the trip.

Well let let us agree to disagree, if Hinkley is the future of the FFC we are in big trouble, he is and will never be in our best 22. Being hard running and taking the game on is not enough, his skills are the worst on our list. When we drafted him there was a big ? over his skills and they have not improved.

Out : Crowley ( inj),
In: Walters,

Dodd to mind Judd
DeBoer to mind murphy
Hinkley to mind Gibbs
Tarrant on Fev

Hinkley and DeBoer will give 110% IMO...must be persevered with.
Give Spud 2 more games. If no improvement then GTFO.

So we're tagging three players? Our starting midfield will be Dodd, deBoer and Hinkley.
I would go
Judd - deBoer -strong tag
Murphy - Duffield/Hinkley/Dodd
Gibbs -Schammer
Stevens - Haselby.

I would be happy with those matchups.

If Crowley is the only injury, I would leave the team as is and only bring in a player for Crowley. I think a way to go would be as follows :-

Out - Crowley ( injury )

In - Clarke

Clarke - ruck, then forward.

Johnson - released to go back / forward.

With Johnson back / forward, a player can be released to go into the midfield rotation.

My reasoning is that Carlton play 2 rucks, Clarke is in good form, and Johnno is in good form so could be helpfull around the ground.

Also, Carlton's ruck divison isn't as physically strong as others, so it would be an ideal game for him to debut in. Hawthorn showed how having a strong second forward can stretch the Carlton defence, Roughead ran riot in the first half. I know Mcpharlin/Murphy isn't in the same league as Roughead but having a tall forward line would give us an advantage. If Clarke came in, our forward line would look something like...

HF:Hill Pav/MJ Peake
F:Clarke/Sandi Murf Mcpharlin

That, would be awesome.

When Clarke goes into the ruck, he won't be out of his depth physically either. I can't see Kreuzer and O'Hailpin walking all over him, unless something like this happens...

Crazy Irish bugger :p

Yeah, we're really going to have to agree to disagree. Hinkley is yet to play 10 matches, but he already has a Brownlow vote behind him. I honestly haven't seen any real problems with his disposal, it's better than a fair few of guys on our list.

I think Hinkley is in our best 25 at the moment, and he is only going to get better.

What?

Kreuzer is a star, but just needs a chop out from a ruckman and not Cloke or O'hAilpin.

Hampson will match Clarke if he's selected.
That's a good shot of Cloke copping a whack at Thursday's match committee.

Do you have this week's Tattslotto numbers as well?

In: Walters/Foster/Broughton, Clarke
Out: Crowley (inj), Murphy

It's not so much that Murphy needs to be dropped, but that Clarke needs to play. There isn't going to be a better time to play him then against Carlton, and we really need a second ruckman. These were our hitouts against the Eagles;

Sandilands - 14 (shocker compared to his usual 30+)
Mundy - 3
Duffield - 2
Johnson - 2

Clarke will be able to compete in the ruck and should win a fair amount of hitouts against O'hAilpin/Cloke/Hampson. Johnson can play as a permanent forward, with both Sandi and Clarke spending time at full forward.

You make a fair argument there Chris. Although we could probably suffice with just Sandi against the Blues. Im sure Johno will spend some more time this week working on rucking. I dont think an away game is the place to debut Clarke, not yet anyways.

That being said, i hope not but I think Head will come in for Creepy. which saddens me incredibly.

IN: Campbell, Drum
OUT: Crowley (inj), Murphy

I'd go with Dodd as the tagger on judd, with Drum replacing him down back.

I know Campbell's form probably doesnt warrant selection, but we have no other capable KPP's ready at the moment & Murphy simply can't stay on the back of the last 2 weeks efforts...runs away from contests & is a token chaser at best.

Clarke, Walters, Pratt, Pearce & Foster are getting alot closer to selection however...& with Headland, Ballantyne, Mayne & Brock all returning in next 4-5 weeks, we should be a very competitive unit after mid season break - pending injuries of course. Hopefully we have seen the last of Gilmore, Head & co

I mean physically. For instance, Clarke wouldn't debut in a game against St Kilda, because King and Gardiner will physically monster him. Kreuzer is a young ruckmen and would be much better for Clarke to debut against, because of his less muscular build, meaning that he wouldn't get pushed out of contests so easily.

I have a feeling De Boer will be dropped.

Kiwi doesn't deserve a game, I hope Clarke comes in and possibly Broughton if he is fit again.

The likely change we will see IMO will be

Out: Crowley (inj)
In: Head/Gilmore

Although I hope not, I'm still very pessimistic when it comes to our selection panel.

As I mentioned in the WAFL performances thread Gilmore only had 1 kick and 1 handpass to half time. Head kicked a couple of goals.

Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and Stevens...and no Crowley.

I wonder whether we take Dodd out of the back and put him on one of these four? Maybe Stevens? He'll annoy the shit out of him, that's for sure.
And give Deboer the run on Judd.
Schammer on Murphy?

Roger to run with Gibbs?

I thought Gibbs is a sort of tagger himself. I'd probably expect him on Hase.
De Boer on Judd, yes please. He may get flogged but it will be a very good learning curve for him.

Perfect time to bring Clarke in as Carlton dont really have a very strong ruck division.

I can't see why Drum would get a call up when his form is barely enough to keep him in the Perth league list. I also wouldn't bring Campbell in at this stage for Murphy, either, as Campbell has not been banging the door down. He was very average this weekend apparently. As a few people have said, give Murphy the 5 or 6 games to settle and prove he has something to offer or to prove he is not up to it (I think it will be the latter) and then Kiwi can have his chance.

I like the idea of playing Clarke if Crowley is out. Dodd or De Boer can do the run-with role and Clarke against a weaker ruck division is a good starting point.

I'm worried about the let-down factor this week. I just hope they play attacking footy from the start and don't get clogged up. I'd say most sides would have figured out we don't cope with zones very well. I don't know if Carlton go the zone much? They may also be a bit flat after a big game against Hawthorn and having to travel
