Changes vs Carlton

I think Mundy gets bagged more than he deserves because we all get pissed off with Braedesmaen's carp. He is actually fourth in the tam for tackles and eighth for disposals. He certainly needs to do more (no it is not his laconic style, it is his attitude- the difference in the games when he puts in and the ones where doesn't is very distinct and obvious). Dropping him for a week or two to let him know he has to earn his spot may have some merit but he wasn't our worst today. It would be interesting to see how he responded.

Other than that

Pav and Grover out
Johnson and Drum in, given Drum had a pretty reasonable outing with Perth today I believe.

McPharlin down back - Drum and Johnson both in the forward line

I'd keep Balla for another game depending on how he pulls up. He should get better with every game he plays and having O'Brien on him was a tough first up gig. Good move by Malthouse.

Ibbo had a bad day but dropping him achieves nothing. Same could be said for Broughton. These guys need to keep playing at AFL level.

Bad luck for your boys today.
I really was expecting a close game.
The loss of Pavlich was significant though and in reality I think the pies won through better fitness and hardness in the end.

I hope you guys flog Carltank next week.:thumbsu:

It wasnt due to bad luck.

I was expecting anything (Its a habit i have developed).
Im not sure if Pav would have made a massive difference..we were getting beaten in nearly all areas. A few held their heads up, but too many passengers today.
Its back to earth for the players.......and that maybe a good thing.

Pav - Jonno, or if not right Campbell, but only if he went extremely well today for WP, otherwise Kepler, otherwise Drum as last resort.
Grover - Pearce
Dodd - Ruffles

Campbell had a quiet game for WP so in my view its either Jonno or Kepler in for Pav.

His bad is sooo bad though. Everyone shanks the odd kick etc but sometimes his lack of effort is woeful and that's what makes people angry.

Based on what I think the selection panel will do and now what I want:
Out: Pav (Inj), Grover (Inj?), Clarke
In: Gilmore, Drum (or Johnson if fit), Ruffles

Gilmore had his 3rd 30+ possession game. Probably turned half over but will probably get rewarded for that. With the loss of Pav (versatile) and Grover (KPP) they will look to Gilmore IMO.

Drum - had a reasonably good game today (WAFL) and may get rewarded.

Ruffles - also had a good game in the WAFL.

Clarke - first game, but looked raw, unlike Balla he is also very young and skinny. He's had a taste, put him back in the WAFL to work on his game.

We've probably only had 7-8 players that have played every game so essentially he's last.
Lack of effort is just a ridiculous thing to say about him. He doesn't lack effort, he's always busting a gut for the team.

Also, that was in avg tackles per game.... so, essentially, he's 8th.

Hahaha, the internet equivalent of taking your bat and ball and going home. :p

la la la la I'm not listening......

Think some people judge guys on how they have been this year/ their whole career instead of actually giving an unbiased view on how they went in this particular game.

Last week Mundy was disgraceful an really should of been dropped, all season he has been avg at best in what he does for the team but below avg based on his ability an what he should be able to bring to the team..
This game i thought he was avg an actually saw him sheparding an working abit harder.
Still doesnt bother putting much effort into chases or 2nd efforts after a contest.

Dodd def wasnt 1 of the worst.

Ballantyne didnt do much but it was his first game cant expect too much, plus there wasnt much clean football going into our forward line.

Campbell i like what he brings to the team a tall focal point that can play CHF he might not take many marks but he always gives a contest an creates crumbs for small forwards or mids.
Best option for us at the moment but has to do more if he ever wants a permanent role.
Cant have a forward line with headland chf/ff an ballas ff or fp.

Also sounds like Gilmores been doing well in WAFL time to give him his 4-5 games without fear of being dropped to prove himself.

Out: Pav, Grover, Mundy
In : Gilmore, Ruffles, Hinkley

Harvs said Pavs injury was only 1-2 weeks fwiw

out: grover, pavlich, ballantyne, mundy
In: Ruffles, hinkley, campbell, walters

ballantyne- incredibly disappointing today, he will become a good player but he reallyu struggled today, and i think a big part of that was that he hadnt played enough wafl before getting a call up

Ballantyne is one of the last players I would drop. His workrate was quite good for someone who is playing there first game and wasn't given any sort of an opportunity all the balls that came into him where to long or too short.

I think Hill and suban are starting to look very tired. I hope the club is mindful of not playing the youngsters too much this year.

Our best two youngsters from last year are unavailable this year (Mayne and Palmer).I wonder if their big first seasons contributed to making them a little more vunrable to injury this year??????

OUTS / INS

Pav Bradley
Grover Johnson if fit else Gilmore
Hill ( rest ) Walters
Suban (rest ) Pearce if fit else Hinkley
Dodd ( inj?)

I think Hill and Suban may need a rest. Balla needs to be given a chance.

Bradley can cover for Pav in the midfield.

I'll be happy so long as Head doesn't get a game and Pav is not out too long.

this. play anyone ahead of josh head, even drum.

but id like to see

out - Pavlich, Grover
in - Campbell, Johnson

give balla another go in there, and its almost time to give suban and hill a rest.

Are you serious! Clarke was ok and for only his first game. Naita was raw as in his first game as well. Give him another go ffs and see what he can do playing at home against a weak **** carlton ruck.

Out: Pav, Grover(bloody ordinary all year),
In: Ruffles, Walters/Sibbo

who cares if we lose we are no chance this year, no point playing has-been hacks like bradley, gilmore, drum etc - we already know what they are capable of - FA

IN: Gilmore, Ruffles
OUT: Pavlich, Grover

Gameplan: a bit of rucking from Clarke/Gilmore and Sandilands spending more time up forward (split 50/50 forward/ruck). Ruffles/Ballantyne at his feet. Should be DELICIOUS!
