In - King, Post
Out - Batchelor (inj), Miller. Conca (sub)

Agree with general observation that Gourdis went OK for first game of 2011. Made a couple of blues but also did some composed things at times and has plenty of upside as his confidence grows with experience. McGuane is a hard nut, but is directly responsible for several goals each week with poor skills and decision making

Out: Miller McGuane Webberley
In: Griffiths Post King

B: Newman Rance Gourdis
HB: Houli Post Batchelor
C: Deledio Martin Cotchin
HF: Edwards Vickery Nahas
F: King Riewoldt Griffiths
R: Browne Jackson Foley
INT: Grigg Farmer Hislop
SUB: Conca

Would be pretty happy to see that lineup run out on Saturday.

LMAO...ok, so you are going to pin your hopes on two players who have played what? 5 games between them ..you have NFI. They both lack the height and the body strength to be able to compete. McGuane might fall into that category to, but he does have one thing going for him, mongrel. ;)
Cogga"twoface"rules... You keep saying tuck shouldn't play because he isn't apart of future, either is McGuane so let's give Post and Gourdis a crack. McGuane has been terrible the last month, Post has been good at VFL level so give him a chance. You talk as if McGuane is a giant killer, Mitch Clarke was single handedly keeping Brisbane in the game before getting injured. He plays on the resting ruck and get spanked.

:rolleyes:Let's bring sensibility back into the argument re potential team selections.
Griffiths in??? The guy was concussed and lasted a mere quarter at Coburg last week, it is beyond the realms of possibility he will get a call up to the seniors. So stop the nonsense.
I have an inkling we'll see King automatically recalled and Post and King come into the line-up.
Webberley will be an obvious omission, while Batchelor is likely to miss through injury. Have an inkling the third guy to make way will be Conca who will be rested!
As West Coast did, we'll want to stretch the Blues and Post will likely play and Miller be retained.
McGuane stays!!

Incorrect, its not about being part of the future, its about not being part of the future when he was part of the future. I dont suggest McGuane is a giant killer, all i suggest is that the realists know why we have to have him in the side and why, disregarding his errors, he is the only one that goes close to standing the resting ruck and if you watch the ****ing game, for a guy who gives away inches and weight, he does it ok. Mitch Clarke was ****ing BS he kicked a couple of goals. The lions were all over us in that first half and Clarke was part of it.
Why we won it, wasnt due to Clarke being off. We won it because our midfield went right off and ran them into the ground and that without Tuck. ;)

Thank God. Someone with some sense who has bothered to see what's been going on at Coburg rather than just saying "Let's bring Griffiths in cause he's young and a high draft pick and Miller is shit". I would be completely shocked if the match commitee brought him in this week.

Also I could understand Conca being rested, but maybe his rest could be him being the sub, and bring him on in the 3rd for some run and fresh legs.

Tend to agree, Conca will be the likely sub and we'll see him play more and more of that role as the year unfolds to not burn him out, but continue his development!

Some still speculating that Batchelor might be left out injured... but he does not appear on any injury lists that I can see.

Hope he is fit because I thought he was very servicable last week.

Finally someone with some common sense!

There are so many knee jerk reactions on this board. I guess it's human nature to want scapegoats, and also to immediately 'play the kids' as soon as an older player has a few average games.

Just pick the team that has the best chance of beating the opposition. If we must get cute with gifting games to kids, leave it until the very end of the season.

And one other thing, just because someone is a kid does not automatically make them 'part of the future'. Half of our (or anyone else's) 'kids' wont play more than 10 AFL games.
