Have they got footage ?

Probably NicNat !

Think they'd say more than "in-form player".

My guess is Cripps, based on nothing at all. Maybe he stepped on some other form of marine life?

Hills my guess.. Sore shoulder is something you can try hide (as Mike said possibly a sling) as well as the Newman elevation.

For me, this weekend, the talk around individual components will hopefully be irrelevant.

What is infinitely more interesting (in terms of how it bodes for the future, and in particular, the next 4 games) is how this "web" team structure/tactic holds up when one of the components (GOV) goes down. This tells us a lot. If we leak like a sieve, we perhaps then need to drop all of this web talk and just admit that our defensive success has been based around one player.

If however, the overall structure holds this weekend (which is my working hypothesis still - I may be deluding myself)...you will hear the biggest, loudest Brian Taylor-esque "WOWIE!" emitting from my house.

In this sense, at the end of the Swans game, I will either be maniacally happy or hopelessly depressed. And this will possibly be irrespective of whether we win or lose. If we just eek out a scrappy win, where our defence looks like a shambles but our forward line goes on a rampage, I won't be happy.

This. Well mainly.

We know for sure that the defensive structure has not been based around one player already. It's why we are where we are. It's just that within that structure McGovern has his role and he does it very well. The question is whether our next best replacement can fit in and knows how to play to that same structure.

Definitely. Completely agree. There is no debate as to whether Gov is a gun or not. I am just very, very curious/petrified as to whether the removal of this one cog causes the system to fall down, irrespective of whether his replacement plays well or not.

Surely if his replacement plays well, then the system doesn't fall down, and it just rolls along like it normally would.

Yes. McGovern has been playing injured for weeks and Simpson did not have this covered. McGovern could have broken down in the first few minutes last week. That would have been serious for the team. Simpson knew McGovern had fitness problems and did nothing about it except keeping the option of Yeo as a taller player- but that would take Yeo out of the mid field. On training a tall defender, the WAFL is not the same as the AFL. East Perth is not the Eagles. OK Simpson took a risk. It may still work out OK but it was still risky. He even mentioned that Darling could be targeted. All this calls for another tall to be playing. The only question really is who is that tall and who do you leave out. Other people, not just me saw the problem. Simpson gets the big bucks to sort this stuff out.
Sorry but this is just dumb

Actually I'm not sorry

The use of "in-form player" by Lachie ****face is pretty telling IMO. If it was a high profile player they'd be called "star" or "key player". Reckon it's Hill or Ellis based on this, which were listed earlier in the week anyway.
