We have to admit.. in the last 7 games Taylor has played - he has played 1 good game.

That one game was against the worst in the AFLover the past 5 years. WCE are shit and thats the only game he has played well in.
He only goes out if Rash is back in, otherwise he stays. Let's not forget that Taylor is a midfielder who is being groomed to play as a forward which takes time. He isn't getting high stats but he makes good decisions and has good disposal when he gets the ball.

Without Rankine, Rash and Peds, he's our next best choice IMO.

Don't they have to play a minimum number of games to qualify, or is it different if the AFL team is still in finals?

My interest in SANFL isn't what it used to be.
It's always been the case that if the senior side is still playing, those not in the team can play in the Reserves, regardless of games played previously. So, I don't think any of those who played this weekend could play SANFL, besides maybe the sub, Brodie Smith? Maybe he'd need a permit. But definitely the likes of Pedlar, Michalanney and Rachele, if fit, could.

Perhaps Pedlar and Michalanney might play a half each? Rachele perhaps not quite ready?

Must admit, I'm hoping Davis has told us to pull back after the Showdown smashing.... Just hope we have pulled back to keep something in the tank and surprise come finals....

Hope we are ready to peak and go bang in finals :hearts: :raisedhands:
I'd suggest that we are very focused on playing finals footy. Since the showdown we have looked like we've been in the wrong mental space and only trying when we've had to. We gave both Hawks and Pies a 5 goal head start and reeled them both in very quickly.

Listening to Nix's press conference yesterday, he mentioned the "start line" a few times, referring that the season starts/restarts now and we've not achieved anything in the big picture. We've known that we'll be playing finals for a few weeks now, and they seem mentally set on that, and given a lot of our players are in this position for the first time in their career, may have taken some focus off the last few games.

Whilst this doesn't guarantee anything come finals in the way of results, I'm extremely confident they'll be switched on when finals footy starts.

Everything I've heard coming from the players press conferences in the last few weeks suggests they're a very focused bunch this year.

The issue re lack of finals experience could be very telling... fingers crossed

Any update on Dawson's umpire contact? Soligo? Laird?

It's just that I want to know if I need to buy a can of petrol before I head on over to AFL house.

Ok thanx.

Those tackles are hard to pick, how are you meant to bring a giant down when you’re Sog’s size?

I think it's possible MM has a run in the 2s next week.
If we get the Thursday night QF can’t see Max playing in the SANFL final on the Sunday. They’d ideally be more flexible with the SANFL finals and play Saturdays when the Crows or Power are still alive. Would give players in the selection frame a bit more time between games.

They’ll do what’s best for the afl side. If it means Max plays a half in the sanfl to get a run because that’s what’s best for his prep then they’d do that.

You're right. I forgot about the Thursday night game.

Agree completely on that point (it’s why I think the SANFL need to look at their scheduling - the Crows-Glenelg game would ideally be on Friday night as it gives the AFL team the best chance to look at players ahead of the QF). But not sure a half of footy for Max in the 2s four days out from a QF would be better prep than just resting him up completely. In Burgess we trust though, I won’t be questioning the club either way. Just excited to see Max back, there’s no question he’s been missed.

What’s the loophole?

Someone posted a tweet that the first of his 3 prior offences was in round 20 a couple of years ago. So in a rolling 2 year period, that offence no longer is included. It was included at the time of the rule being introduced this year.

I assume that's it.

Anyway, even if it was a 4th offence, it's just a fine.

If Hawks have a narrow win over Brisbane in a relatively high scoring game, they could still finish 4th as their % could drop enough to keep them behind Collingwood. Might impact selection, although you'd think minimal changes other than Max and maybe Pedlar in, Rash potentially as well, with Draper out, maybe Dowling and Bond out depending on how many come in.

If its a draw tonight we play the Giants by the ladder predictor
