How do you run 16.3kms in a game and only touch the ball 8 times? 2kms per touch FFS. Is he running around in circles? Someone needs to tell this spud to watch Rioli highlights on loop to figure out how to get front and square

After the game Simmo would have told him he tried really really hard and that his guarding of the empty spaces (where Freo weren't) was really really good.

Mate I’ve travelled much further for a lot fewer touches than that.

My comment was on the way he was moving after missing the last game with a foot injury. He’s never been the most fluid looking athlete, but he was struggling to get from contest to contest and at times he even looked he was struggling to put one foot in front of the other.

If we had a couple of other guys available he probably wouldn’t have played.
I think you're right but this is what shits me with our injury management. We let an injured player be brave, but they are too injured to make a difference. Now we get to see if he's aggravated it and might miss more time than if he'd just rested in the first place.

How is it the coach's fault that he's a spud?

Watched him run around aimlessly for most of the match, doing SFA. After, apparently, having a "big" preseason.

What's his excuse?
No excuses, more that he’s the type of player where the right kind of coach could get something out of him …but more likely he’s just a spud.

I don’t rate him but there’s a few players like he and Rotham where you just feel we’re not getting the best out of them

Dont know what's gone wrong with Rotham. He was a must-keep 6 months ago; potential long term Shep/Hurn replacement.
But his disposal has gone to shit, he is playing without any urgency or passion, he looks slower and more susceptible in a 1-on-1, kills momentum at every opportunity with indecisiveness and turnovers...

Surprised the Anti-Waterman crew haven't latched onto those stats.

There's gotta be about 10 players who had worse games than Petch. And a couple of them are also playing as small forwards. Weird fixation a few of you have with him.

Yep, plenty of players had a stinker. The difference is that many of them were coming off limited preseasons, or were recovering from COVID. Whereas Petruccelle was (reported) to have a strong pre-season, no injury excuses and is at a point in his career where he should be starting to step up. Except he's pretty much producing exactly the same as he did back in 2019.

Petruccelle has turned heads on the track during an uninterrupted pre-season, standing out with his improved running capacity, attack on the contest, and line-breaking ability.

The problem is that NONE of that was on display. And more than anything, it was his complete lack of intent. IMHO, he looked flat and disinterested.

DeGoey is out of the goal square!
Pretty sure I heard on the news he got done for 1 week for a hit/bump/tackle/ love bite?
Some kind of desperate luck for us I guess...

This year has been so hard to predict weekly changes for obvious reasons.

I would love to have the luxury of dropping some players to send them and the team a message.

Team needs more Black, Giro, Mountford et al.

Are we allowed to play top ups like Giro and co over spuds like Langdon or is it only if we have covid issues?

wow, you have a lot of class coming back this week (just our luck).

I don't think it will be as lop sided as some here are anticipating.

We have a very young team and while we have started well, we're more than capable of playing a stinker.

Yeeeeeeah, but we have a pretty average squad that we’ll still need to be heavily dipping into…

Percentage booster coming your way.

I think it is list of available players, as in official squad Dan, so injuries play a part. (not just covid)
In saying that, I do not condone going all Tonya Harding & taking out squad members, Mineral Resources Park & Optus seems to be quite efficient at doing that already.
From some things I read on here, sounds like going T. Harding on the S&C staff might be popular.
Get your point though. The top up fellas, (outside squad), did show passion & energy, which was great to see.
Energy/effort from squad members thrown into the fire a bit too early was also very admirable and mostly encouraging to my mind.

Mate, its not even going to be a contest. We play slow, stop-start footy and you guys have some zip in your side. If we end up within 6 goals of you at the end of the game it will have been a big effort.

Unfortunately we're at the point in the cycle where we just need oppo teams to lay on a few floggings so that we actually get to see some changes made - whether that be to personnel, gameplan or coaches remains to be seen.
