Will there be a statement? Surely we have to make as many changes as you possibly can. Getting rag-dolled on your home deck by a team destined to fight it out for the bottom spoon. Starting with the ins I reckon there are seven that you can build a case for.

In: Walker, Douglas, Lyons, Cameron, Ellis-Yolmen, Rutten, Otten.

You could easily drop 12-13 players but seven would be enough to make a strong statement. Two are givens: Jaensch and Lynch (inj).

So five must go.

Reilly, goes without saying.

Petrenko surely.

Brown, Shaw, Wright for mine to make up the seven.

If the Club has any soul left, it must make a statement with the team that produced that insipid performance this evening.

The players tonight collectively have bought shame and ridicule to us.

Negative..
As opposed to many players currently in the AFL team, too many on your In's list are not AFL-ready..

Unless we are willing to make a commitment to the future and then giving the younger guys a good run, 7 or 8 games - we may as well just make the 2 changes.

In: Douglas and walker.

Out: Grigg (we all know he will be the scapegoat), lynch (jaw)

Jeansch will be ok and they will play the same 22

Wholesale changes won't happen as they still believe we are top 4 material.

This is so many things at once..
Funny, alarming, enraging, ridiculous and mostly, will probably be true..

Unchanged. Let the players respond.

We're only allowed to make changes when Petrenko and Reilly aren't among our worst players. :p

No point playing those who won't be there in 2015 any more.

Pods needs to move over for Tex into a coaching role as forward coach and still available as depth if we need him. Bickley gets pushed out to coach the ressies.

Next week should be the send off for Thommo, Truck and Reilly. Harsh, yes. But there really is no point wasting games on them any more that could go into Lyons, Harto and Batters respectively. Great game for a send off. The latter should come in after the mass send off.

Petrenko is surely done. We can't continue to surrender a spot in our forward line. A 5 man forward line, whilst a brave experiment, is no way forward. Charlie Cameron come on down.

Matty Wright isn't a premiership quality player, he's a battler. Lot of respect for him and what he's achieved with what he's got but he's more of a quality depth player imo. Dougy in for him.

Sam Shaw simply can't kick for shit. Otto in.

Thank you for that but we'll keep pushing forward until the finals aren't mathematically possible.. :thumbsu:

Grigg isn't a scapegoat, he was poor. Hartigan on the other hand was so bad he made Dawes look like a superstar, while our coaches box succeeded in making Watts look like a #1 draft pick for nearly the first time in his career.

In: Rutten, Walker, Douglas, ?

Out: Hartigan (terrible), Lynch (jaw), Grigg (poor), Jaensch (ribs)

I wish we had an in to bring in with elite disposal by foot. Someone like Vince for instance.

.

Not harsh. Stupid.

Lets go for the rest of the season with only 4 players who have played 100+ games of AFL football.

Out: Reilly, Jaesnch, Lynch, Pets, Wright.

In: Kelly, CEY, Cameron, Walker, Douglas.

Yep. Promote two rookies, Can we do worse and if one of them looks the goods well, Smith becomes a full time midfielder. Kelly has some grunt and i'd like to see what he can do at a higher level.

I agree with Grigg. Was woeful tonight. Can't really blame him. Got 20 minutes of football last week and before that struggled with an adductor. Needs to go back to the SANFL for a month to demand selection.

Why drop Hartigan for Rutten? You are talking about dropping a 22 year old who has performed very well for the first 6 games of the year for a 31 year old who has was not good for the first 5 games before sitting out the last two. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by this. Young players will have their ups and downs.

Because Reillys 199 games of experience served us so well.

In Tex, Dougy, Rutten, Otten, Lyons
Out Reilly, Jaensch, Lynch, Shaw, Grigg

Why drop Hartigan for Rutten?

Because absolutely and definnitively Rutten comes in pending the medical all clear from his SANFL hit out tomorrow, and either Hartigan or Shaw goes - and tonight Hartigan was dire.

Out - Lynch, Radar, Shaw, Matty J and Pets

In - Walker, CEY, Truck, Douglas, and Charlie Cameron

Reilly wasn't the only problem, but he was a problem.

He was disgraceful in the first quarter. Was directly involved in multiple goals against. His first two kicks were complete shanks. He was so poor that he was moved to the forwardline to replace Lynch in the second. Don't attempt to tell me that this was because he was most suitable for the role. Reilly has never played as a lead-up forward in his life. He did nothing up forward and was moved back. The best thing he did was win a holding the ball free in the third, but he was only in that position because seconds earlier he completely failed to compete for a hard ball get, shouting instructions to another player while literally the closest man to a loose ball. Melbourne took it away, and Reilly was left chasing for a (fortunately successful) tackle.

He was terrible today. Very poor performance from a senior player.

But no, he was not alone. The whole team failed to turn up for a whole half. Disgraceful. Many deserve to be dropped today.
You missed he went from forward to wing and stuck there as well.

Reilly is there for his experience. His first qtr and errors set the tone. He played a little better in the second half but still was poor, he went from ****ing disgraceful to pathetic.

Last week, Sando (paraphrased)..."we don't want to play attacking footy, that's not us. we want to play uglier than that"
Who the **** wants to go watch a team trying to play ugly?? what a stupid ******* thing to say. How about put on some damn entertainment if we're going to play as rubbish as we are. I accept some games are ugly. But you don't bloody go out there trying to make it ugly. FFS!!!
.
What's worse is the message it gives to the players:

"You aren't good enough to play an attacking game"
