If I was Joe Atley I'd be seriously wondering if I'd be getting a regular AFL gig at norf. Ladhams and Frampton would also have to be considering their place in line too.

LM is a mark taken on the lead.I think the deciding factor was that Amon looks to have had more link up play
9 marks (v 1), 6 inside 50s (v 1), 8 Handball receives (v 9).
Note: CD runs with another stat called LM which i assume is a long mark.
Those need injuries to get a game, Atley would be in if boak, Spp or even drew got injured, ladhams if Lycett was injured, Frampton if Ryder or Marshall got injured, Trengove for Rockliff..If I was Joe Atley I'd be seriously wondering if I'd be getting a regular AFL gig at norf. Ladhams and Frampton would also have to be considering their place in line too.
Mate, who cares.. It makes no difference.I ******* hate the way he does that week in week out.
Neither does his Coke Zero but it sure has gotten a lot of BF airtime over the years.Mate, who cares.. It makes no difference.
On a fast track maybe not.Would rather we rewarded some good SANFL form of Trengove etc.
On a fast track maybe not.
Still, in the winter months he might come in, or if we lose some inside mids.
I do love his attitude and effort and leadership.
I doubt Trengove will play AFL this year unless we have a very bad run with injuries no matter how well he plays in the SNAFL.Would rather we rewarded some good SANFL form of Trengove etc.
Huh?
I doubt Trengove will play AFL this year unless we have a very bad run with injuries no matter how well he plays in the SNAFL.
God this board overreacts sometimes.
Ladhams has played about 4 good games of SANFL football in his life. He wouldn't be anywhere near sniffing the #1 ruck role at any club in the league. But not every club in the league has a ruckman in their best 22 but with a long injury history and on the wrong side of 30, so if he's smart he'll stick around and see if he can beat Hayes (who's both younger than Ladhams and coming off of an ACL injury) for the spot that's gonna open up probably about a season and a half from now when Paddy Ryder retires.
Trengove helps develop our young ones and helps the SANFL team. He wouldn’t be costing us much. He is a safety net if we get a lot of injuries to inside mids. We can only play 22 so there will always be a lot of players who can’t get a game. It’s called depth and clubs need it. As I said I am sure Trengove isn’t on much coin and we threw him a lifeline. He would be happy enough with his lot. We can’t have our Magpies team and our depth players only 18 year olds.Yeah I agree... I just don't understand why we have these players on our list yet we've marked their cards. Why did we keep Toumpas another year when no matter what we wouldn't promote him even when he was playing very well.
Overreacts?
Someone asked which young players could leave port at the end of the year.
Realistically with Amon and Drew finding form and X and butters coming online immediately Atley could well be considering if he will be able to force his way in to our midfield any time soon. If he played for a worse team with less midfield depth, especially one where he has links like norf, he could get game time again.
This isn't about fairness or anyone doing anything wrong, it's just about the reality of AFL. If you want to make a career out of it which can last for only a small percentage of your life you have to make tough calls.
Ladhams and Frampton similarly would have to look at Hayes, slyce and Ryder and wonder where their spot is, especially when they are also looking at each other. A club in desperate need of tall timber at season end could well make them a good offer.
Not sure why so many people are upset with my post. This is the reality of AFL today. Just look at Logan Austin, was promising but got bumped down the backman depth department and thought he could get game time at Saint Kilda and the opportunity to prove himself. So far it hasn't worked out for him but I don't fault him one bit for taking that chance and I don't fault our club one bit for not giving him firsts runs he didn't earn.
As OneGreatClub posted above, these guys are primarily there to mentor the young kids in the SNAFL.Yeah I agree... I just don't understand why we have these players on our list yet we've marked their cards. Why did we keep Toumpas another year when no matter what we wouldn't promote him even when he was playing very well.
Your post came across as though you thought said players were being looked over and deserved more of an opportunity.
Maybe that wasn't your intention, but as far as a player like Atley is concerned, he needs to do a bit more than a couple of decent showings at sanfl and he'll get a chance (like Drew did.)
Yeah jeez, 21 disposals at 90% efficiency with one turnover.I dunno.. not sure why Karl's suddenly the greatest. He played well against Melbourne but still missed a crapload of targets, I think my point here is not enough to be the auto first in.
