If it came across like that it absolutely wasn't meant that way, but that does explain the response, so thanks.

For the record, again focusing on those three guys, I'd say Atley and ladhams need to do a lot more and more consistently to get a spot. I'm not sure Atley will ever be best 22 at port now but I reckon he is good enough to be best 22 at certain other clubs in 2020 if he does the right things.

Frampton we should have played last year more but that's a totally different conversation.

Bit unsure on Atley. He could find a spot like Amon or Drew or he could go elsewhere and be a Newton or Moore.

Also for the record I'm not saying Atley, ladhams and Frampton will walk at the end of the year. I'm saying they are guys that could be considering their options, particularly Joe

Which club do you think Ladhams would be getting games for right now?

I was really surprised Atley re-signed last year. He's contracted for next year so we keep him unless he gets a better offer that Atley and Port are happy with.

Ladhams is a developing ruck who has been developed well in his home state. Ryder doesn't have many years left. Ladhams gets upgraded next year.

Frampton could well be looking for another offer. I have no idea if he is at Port or any afl list next year.

Meh. Fringe players move on. Try and keep them happy and give them chances when they deserve them.

As I said. All aboard the Amon train. Limited seating.

Hey I sincerely hope he becomes a 150 game player my only observation would be what's it now 5 years or something he's been on our list when did you last see a player come good after 5 years especially when you see these new kids come in as 18 year olds and well and truly overtake him in their first year

Amon is only 23. He isn't going to be a star of the game, but I think he can be a solid role player for us on a wing.

Those new kids are top 15 draft picks.

If you want to run a successful program, you can't have everyone being a superstar. You need JAGs too.

Overreacts?

Someone asked which young players could leave port at the end of the year.

Realistically with Amon and Drew finding form and X and butters coming online immediately Atley could well be considering if he will be able to force his way in to our midfield any time soon. If he played for a worse team with less midfield depth, especially one where he has links like norf, he could get game time again.

This isn't about fairness or anyone doing anything wrong, it's just about the reality of AFL. If you want to make a career out of it which can last for only a small percentage of your life you have to make tough calls.

Ladhams and Frampton similarly would have to look at Hayes, slyce and Ryder and wonder where their spot is, especially when they are also looking at each other. A club in desperate need of tall timber at season end could well make them a good offer.

Not sure why so many people are upset with my post. This is the reality of AFL today. Just look at Logan Austin, was promising but got bumped down the backman depth department and thought he could get game time at Saint Kilda and the opportunity to prove himself. So far it hasn't worked out for him but I don't fault him one bit for taking that chance and I don't fault our club one bit for not giving him firsts runs he didn't earn.

You're pretty much putting into words, what I was too lazy to when I said I was nervous some young guys will leave at years end.

Yeah I agree... I just don't understand why we have these players on our list yet we've marked their cards. Why did we keep Toumpas another year when no matter what we wouldn't promote him even when he was playing very well.

You aren't comparing Toumpas to Trengrove I hope.

Trengrove is playing great footy and would fit right into the Power as an inside mid if ever required.

Most importantly, Trengrove is the Luke Hodge of our AFL reserves team. I don't understand why we wouldn't have him on our list even if his card is marked.

Always had the attributes. Would have been delisted this year if there wasn't changes in coaching staff and game style. He's an outside player that can use his speed-endurance to burn opponents. Guarding territory and kicking it along the boundary was an awful spectacle. Kicking the ball to stationary targets meant we couldn't see his disposal.
He's a good player. Week see that in a few weeks

He is "icing on cake" player. Will be very effective when core of our team playing well. Fast game suits him too. So has his role. But like the fact pressure on him to perform with others biting at heels to take his spot...
