Depending on the Magpies game, maybe it’s time to start rotating the first year players.

Drew was a little lost last night and has been a consistently a little lost since Wines came back. An outside runner in Amon would be a better balance.

Still have to get Motlop into the team. There is no way he will spend a month in the SANFL. Not sure how you fit him in though.

Jonas for Lienert is logical. But Marshall must stay, much better structure with him in.

Farrell for Robbie
Jonas for Lienert

I’ve been saying Robbie out for a while now, people keep saying ‘he’s coming good’.... I think he needs a spell, could do with a rest. He can’t kick anything at the moment, set shot or around the corner.

Hopefully Farrell can play well in the SANFL, we need better goalkicking and he’s a good set shot.

Kicking 16 and 17 points in the last two weeks will catch up with us at some point.

He's a champion. He'll turn it on when we need him. Plus he draws their best defender and adds to the balance of the side.
No way we drop Robbie Gray for such an important game.
They ran out of our forward line because of him (and Ryder) though. Maybe Motlop for Robbie for a while. Comes in when we rest Butters and go from there.

We've needed him. It's six rounds in and he hasn't fired a shot.

Dropping him may not work but I've sort of given up on thinking he'll come good at any minute. He looks like he needs to refresh.

Thread for mentally preparing ourselves for In: Amon Out: Marshall
Marshall's an obvious out, Collingwood's not a game for carrying passengers.
If Jonas is back in we could try one of the spare tall defenders up forward, after all we know they will contest and can mark. If that gives us even one goal we are already ahead on the last night's game.
No obvious reason for Amon, Trengove, Farrell, whatever.

I am really worried about the speed and strength of Collingwoods mids. They will carve us to bits if we play like we did tonight. One of our slow inside mids has to go out and unfortunately it’s probably Drew.

I hope Motlop and Amon have huge games today. If so, for me the changes would be:

OUT: Drew (for team balance),
Butters (rest), Lienert
IN: Motlop, Amon, Jonas

I'd go Motlop for Drew (Drew super unlucky, but team balance reasons, the midfield we put out there today is too slow for a game at Marvel Stadium), and probably Lienert for Jonas if Jonas is available. Although if Jonas isn't available it won't hurt us too much I don't think, Collingwood play a smallish forward line and Lienert's athleticism and long kicking may actually add more in the circumstances than Jonas' ability to shut down a tall, especially on the quick deck at Marvel.

Well maybe obvious is the wrong word. I mean we wouldn't notice if he wasn't there.

We wouldn't notice the guy who since his debut we have an 86% winning record with him in the side and a 33% winning record without him? The guy who so far this year we're 4-0 when he plays and 0-2 when he doesn't? How long are you and your ilk going to pretend that's just a coincidence?

There's been some weird stuff on this board but Powerstufff 's complete inability to see Marshall's importance to our structure & performance combined with his increased ability to get to contests is one of the more bizarre. KPF is probably just behind ruck as the toughest position to play as a young footballer. It is absolutely easier for Rozee, Walsh, Butters, Duursma etc etc to do what they are doing compared to Todd.

Ol' mate had exactly the same thoughts on Charlie Dixon when he first started. I'm starting to think he may be Ken Hinkley, such is his disdain for tall forwards.
