Opinion Changes vs. Collingwood

I think our coaches think our best 22 is who played against the Bombers with Butters coming in for Farrell and Burton coming in for Bonner.
I wouldn’t mind Farrell coming out this week and being replaced by one of the draftees from last year who haven’t played. I think I’ve read Williams is struggling to get up to pace (which is forgivable this year considering the lack of reserves footy) so it should be between Mead and Bergman. I think giving a new bloke a chance could give the boys a bit of a pep up. We shouldn’t need one but the excitement of a new player coming in could bring could stop the other boys from having the mindset of ‘oh well if we lose we already have two home finals’.
Bergman and Mead would be a flip if the coin for me. Even though Bergman has been playing back I’d still bring him in as a forward and just tell him to have a crack. Also for the fans the excitement of seeing our first draft pick or the son of a gun could be a good boost.

I was thinking this as well. I’d love to see MG in for Charlie related. I just want to see how the forward line would function without being so Charlie focal all the time.

Why would you want that? Why wish extra incentive on our opponents? Collingwood are no threat for the flag, let them wallow in their arrogance, think the job is done and become complacent.

At this point I agree. But this is exactly why it was important to give those guys a crack earlier in the season rather than pissing games away on known quantities like Sutcliffe and Lienert.

Westy on his day was one of the best contested marks in the league.

To be the best, you have to beat the best. At no point should we adopt a policy of choosing our Qualifying Final opponents. We have to have the mindset of a champion team if we have any hope of becoming a champion team.

Any doubt on Clurey- he is out. Farrell did not accept his chance- he goes. I see little point in resting anyone. If we win the QF they will have played one match between 12/9 and 17/10 when the Prelim is on.
