Changes Vs Collingwood

So when you say that against Melbourne you shared the goals around, Cloke included, do you mean sharing as in Cloke shared in the excitement as he watched someone else kick the goal? 'Cause he sure didn't kick one himself! And Burns and O'bree, they shared in the excitement too as they sipped from their water bottles as someone else kicked a goal? Didn't see them on the goal kickers list either.

Aren't you a fountain of football knowledge.

Ha Ha let's just wait till Sunday !
No doubt the blues will be good side but not quite yet.
You guys will be a much better side from next year .

Way to avoid the point.

You were shown up to be a fool by a Carlton supporter who seemed to know more about your game yesterday than you do.

Get out of here.

It's called an opinion and everyone is entitled to that, we don't live in Zimbabwe do we?? If you feel the need to berate your fellow supporters to boost your own ego then i'd suggest the Collingwood board may cater more to your needs!

Opinions are like arseholes .everyone has one ..and most of them stink ..including yours.

out setanta? with all due respect to thornton, setanta has shown he much better form in the last few weeks. thornton looked slower yesterday, and carlos is a better spoiler, faster and more versatile. if one big defender has to go, i will be dissapointed to see irish out.

Agree, I don't believe in dropping players that are in good form for team balance purposes

Wiggins is an experienced, stronger, player who adds some balance to the side, and started to take it on himself to block and provide protection for Judd, need to leave him in for mine.

Setanta was outstanding vs Port, dropping him would be madness.

Agreed.
Setanta should be an automatic selection going forward, if only for the attitude and aggression he injects to the team.
He also needs to be played so that he can get the hang of the game. He's got the athletic ability and he should be a polished enough player by the time the Blues become genuine contenders, which by my reckoning is still 2-3 years away.

If you have a copy of the game, watch Wiggins second half his hands in the wet were fantastic. He has been playing some bloody good footy in that lead up role and his defensive pressure has been great. Great to see him getting a chance and taking it in a very difficult role.

He has to stay. Sentanta is an out and out spud, the number of times he punches the ball back into play and not defensively is ridiculous and whenever he gets the ball and runs I cringe. He had a couple of massive stuff ups on Sunday.

Jamison to come in and hopefully that will be the last we see of Setanta.

Only change for the week.

Wow, why is Setanta now everyone's whipping boy? He is our only tall defender. Waite got towelled by Cloke first time last year and is NOT a CHB. He cannot play on an opponent who uses his body. Again on Sunday Tredrea, who last had a kick in about 2005, pushed him out of the way too many times. Waitey is great value, despite the brainfades, but he is not a CHB. I see him as a Chad Cornes onballer. neither Jamo nor TBird are tall enough for Cloke and the Pies used Fraser up forwad last week, so if we don't play Setanta, they'll do that again. TBird to Didak as per last time ditto Jamo on Medhurst. I'd like Ando for Davis and Armfield on Thomas.

If Jamo comes in a more likely change is Waite to CHF and Fish out. Fish has great hands but unless he marks within 40 metres from goal, and has his kicking boots on, he doesn't hurt. The oppo know if he takes 20 marks outside 50, that's 20 wonky passes of 15 metres that can be intercepted. If Fish plays it has to be deep forward where his contested marking can hurt.

If Jamo is match fit for a tough game then I'm not sure who we drop, perhaps Browne, prehaps Hammer (despite Big Ks last qtr can we take three rucks into the game?) Maybe Browne, didn't see the second half so not sure how he went. I think Wiggo provides a tough contest and is likely to stay in.

I think in the last few weeks Setanta has proved that he is our only genuinely tall defender. He had an AFL high number of spoils again at the weekend. I am not sure what he has to do to impress some Carlton supporters. And if I hear anymore about supposedly poor disposal, I would refer you to about 15 players in our side with disposal worse than Setanta.

Jamo and TBird are better suited to medium talls and medium smalls , Waite is better suited to attacking the ball rather than stopping an opponent

i think browne is the man to have a run back with the ants. 3 rucks to stay no question. Our next best forward to fev is either cloke or kreuze. Fish has had little impact. I also liked hammers game the other day, had a prescence around the ground. Need to see the replay still however

I have to admit I do look at the things he does wrong a lot more thoroughly than what he does well.

Sentanta is put simply not quite a forward, not quite a ruckman and not quite a key back. If he were to play on Richo, Brown, Bradshaw, Franklin he would get towled up, the only way I can see him gettin a game is if Bower remains out. Or against a team like the roos who hale and petrie resting up forward.

He is just not bright enough, he is overly aggressive and doesn't think on the football field.

I would love him to be a key back and to release other players forward. However as I have been saying since october we need Waite to play on the games best, for at least this year. The way Bower and Jamo are coming along is great and hopefully they will again bulk up over summer and be ready to hold down CHB.

Sentata is a great athlete, but a maniac and in closing, isn't a footballers arseh*le

Who is this Sentata / Sentanta you speak of?

basically we have no-one else who can play on talls. He has played on Richo once and limited him to a reasonable game, Richo flogged jamo in round one - too tall. He has played on Brown for 7 and a half qtrs and conceded 6. Waite played on Brown for 4 and a half qtrs and conceded 13, then Waitey replaced jamo on Bradshaw (who hadn't had a kick) and lost 4 one on ones in a row). Waite is an onballer who stands in the back half. The only quality opponent he has beaten or broke even with is Riewoldt, and next time I would think Riewoldt would take him towards goal and play him body on body. Waite is great value but not at beating a big quality opponent. Who has a proven track record on the oppos really tall players?

If I remember correctly, Waite actually played on Rocca and beat him and Bower towelled up Cloke last time! But good on you.

Yeah I think first time last year is a different game to first time this year Doza, but good on you.

Waite and Bower beat Rocca and Cloke this year.

Setanta isn't our best tall defender when Jamison held Bradshaw goalless.

Thanks Denis....

I'd actually call Bradshaw medium tall, like Lloyd, both of whom Jamo has been very good against, but against the extra height of Richo for instance, he struggled. But if you want to call Jamo our best player for playing on the oppositions biggest forward, then play him on Cloke, and find someone else to play on Medhurst. I think Ratts has made the point a few times that Jamo shouldn't have to give away massive height and weight to opponents.

I am aware who played on who this year. I was actually referring to the only time Waite played on Cloke, which from memory was the first time round last year, and Cloke beat him easily

Sorry but I just couldn't resist commenting on this. You clearly haven't watched too many Port games this year if you think Tredrea last got a kick in 2005 as he's been near enough to our best player so far this season. FWIW though I agree Setanta should get the jobs on the big forwards, Waite should be the playmaker.

You have just about described Kouta's early years (excpet for the aggro, maniac bit).
I am more interested in the sort of player Setanta *can* become.

Sorry for the sentatatana spelling in my previous post, was a tad tired yesterday. I'd love to see him as a regular key back and believe that is his only possible chance of staying at the Blues.

He just needs to realise he should not be kicking the football or if he does it should be long to advantage. And surely our backs coach has told him not to punch the ball back into play!!! So hopefully he will stop doing that.

I'm finding it hard to see him staying in the side with Jamo and waitey back in and bower futher down the track. Especially with Walker, Bannister and Hadley due back. I know I'd rather drop Setanta so either of these 3 can run off half back and Jamo or Waite take the key forwards...

Anyway good luck too him, he'll need the luck of the irish, good trade bait I reckon.
