We're thicker down back that we've been all year. Brown, Wakelin and Presti all available as FB/CHB. Harry, Goldsack and Maxwell for others.

As for your changes: OUT - Mcleod, Thompson, Porplyzia, Edwards. Not sure who to bring in though.

Some of those guys are quite smart :D

Who will play at CHF for the Pies?

Just like Moran was a harsh omission last week, i reckon Tippett would be shafted if he got dropped.

I thought he fought hard, used the ball well, and offered a very important contribution to the win.

I agree - Tippett would be stiff but Moran has cooled his heels and should be included. Id like to see both if its a dry day. Can we carry three ruckmen though?

FYI this weeks Umpires...

Mathew James (5) (Vic)
Hayden Kennedy (7) (Vic)
Scott McLaren (11) (Vic)

Yay - no razor ray. Seem to remember a game vs collingwood where his free kick count was 11-1 for collingwood by the 3rd qtr.

And as for changes this week...
Reilly needs another game in the SANFL so he qualifies for Sturt in the finals.:D

I reckon Reilly for Massie. I like Massie but he can make some poor decisions at pretty crucial times, and Reilly is a more polished disposer of the ball.
Reilly off a HBF could be a good move, and he played some very good footy in that position before.

If we are to go anywhere in this finals series Massie is one of our 5 most important players...absolutely zero chance of being dropped imho.

Massie is the ideal match up for Medhurst

This allows Bock to Cloke, Rutten to Anthony, Bassett to play as a floater, and Stevens to push forward

Brown - very inexperienced
Wakelin - Carrying an injury and doubtful
Presti - first game back last week for 12 months

Harry, Goldsack and Maxwell all great players however they are forced to punch abobe their weight, just like Bassett

I too would like to see the crows load up with talls up forward

As stated I like Massie, but there is no way in hell that Massie is , or ever was, one of our 5 most important players.

In my opinion.

Certainly not in our 5 best but i reckon against the opposition coming up (except Hawthorn) he is in top 5 most important. He will man up against their best or second best forward. Given we are a low scoring team, if Massie plays well we are a much, much better chance to win.

If they want to play Moran its Moran for Douglas.

If they want to play Reilly it will have to be MacKay.

Up till last week I'd agree. However, it seems Edwards and Douglas did a role reversal as forwards/mids, perhaps due to Edwards supposedly suspect knee. Whatever the reason, it probably got us over the line!

As such, I'd be keeping Edwards as the small forward, meaning Reilly could replace Douglas the midfielder.

Having said that, I'd go Moran over Reilly this week if only one change is to be made.

Either way, Douglas should be first to go, which is unlucky for him given how many games he has played.

Good points.

No Way!
Johncock should go well before Douglas;)

Dicky has been great value over the year. Stiffy has got the yips! He clucked up the kick-ins and now his work has spread forward.

I assume Johncock will be retained to line up on Davis as he has in the past.

So who plays CHB? Not Stevo, he isn't strong enough.

Right now, Bock is our best CHB and Gill is our best CHF. People tend to forget that CHF is the hardest position on the ground and Gill has played, what, 15 games? Hopefully he will get more consistent with more games under his belt.

Last year we had Bock forward and Stevens back for almost all of the season and we had the second best defence, conceding only 1712 points for the season. We've actually conceded more this season (1838) with Bock back all year and Stevens mainly as a forward. Don't you worry about Stevens, he'll do his job and do it well.

Gill has played only 15 games but FFS he's 26 years old, he isn't going to get any better.

Stevens isn't overly strong but he is very clever and a great judge of the incoming ball. I wouldn't be too worried if he was our CHB, is far better in contested situations than he is given credit for.

However, i agree with your conclusion: Bock=best CHB, Gill=best CHF:thumbsu:

Absolutely re Stevens :thumbsu:

Bock=best CHB and best CHF. Gill=wallpaper over the cracks at CHF. Stevens=more than adequate replacement for Bock.

i'ld like to see Moran (& Reilly ) in but who out????

some have mentioned Gill, Douglas as outs but IMO they are the only 2 forwards that chase and apply any real defensive pressure.
if it was Moran in and a small out then we take the risk that if Porps does his shoulder that we may not have enough midfield interchange strength.

Really? On the weekend, Porplyzia dished out six tackles with one bloody arm. Gill...zip...nada...nothing.

I reckon Reilly for Massie. I like Massie but he can make some poor decisions at pretty crucial times, and Reilly is a more polished disposer of the ball.

Poor decisions at crucial times? If that's you're criteria for dropping a player then there's quite a few ahead of Massie, with Johncock as the leader of the pack. Massie is our only mid-sized defender who can play tall or small if required, worth his weight in gold.

I know this is off the topic, but could someone please tell me the prices for tickets to the game on Saturday?

For mine, its Moran in, Douglas out - if its a dry day

If wet - Moran in, Tippett out

Porplyzia to play! He is a superstar!

You drop our best player from ,last week. Massie did a real job on Johnson who is a superstar of the comp. Have to disagree with that post.
I don't see how we can make realistic judgements without knowing how fit the guys actually are. Trust the selectors although I'd rest Porps this week. If the weather is dry...in Moran......if wet Rielly.

Im saying Stiff should dropped before Dicky:o Excuse my french...

We need Douglas' creativity and ability to find a goal when a crumber is needed. Therefore, bring in Reilly but dont drop Dougyboy.
