Suban plays that distributor role in the backline so he's going to end up with lots of uncontested possessions, just like Duffield. The difference is Suban goes hard when it's his turn to go, like getting crunched going back with the flight in the 1st qtr last night or barreling in for a 50/50 ball... pretty much everything Duffield won't do.

He might not be the greatest footy player in the world but he's far from soft. Anyone watching with their own eyes can see that... and no amount of context-less stats will change it.

Suban might not regularly get 30 disposals a game he is willing to throw his body for the team. Keep in mind when we recruited suban, Suban was at least built around the shoulders as an 18 year old. We recruited duffield as a 21 year old and hes not built to be an inside mid. Even though he has good pace on the legs.. Duffield gets most of his disposals in a kick in after when the oppostion kicks a behind/out on the full or chipping the ball around the defensive 50.

Not really, certainly not based on Crowley's performances this season. He's shutting his man down well on the outside (in open play) and sneaking forward to kick goals, but he's been getting beaten around the contest.

But Stanton's disposable efficiency was the second worst of the Essendon team (57%), so it was a pretty ineffective 28 touches. Watching the game, Stanton didn't come across as having much impact. Or at least as much as usual.

yep, it was like when mcphee? i think it was, who played on judd a couple of years ago when mcphee was our premier tagger. judd racked up 26 largely ineffective disposals. similar premise stanton who only used the ball damagingly a handful of times in the second half, IIRC.

Agree with this, although I wouldn't mind if Crichton stayed ahead of Suban. I'd bring Mora, Dawson if fit and Walters back the week after against the Bullies at Subi.
