English will basically be playing 85% game time in the ruck. The other bits I imagine they’ll just run with 4 mids.

Sure we can.

15 seasons sporting that jumper, and in 40% of those seasons we finished in the top four. This is now our 11th season not sporting the Robo Dog design and we are yet to finish in the top four.

The Robo Dog does its best work between March and August. Come September it runs out of bark.

There's no point in playing Sweet unless you ruck him for 80% of the time he plays.

Since the coaching staff in their infinite wisdom won't do that then we will continue to play English with part timers.

It's not the coaching staffs fault Bruce was our only decent forward ruck on the list and that Sweet is worse then BTC list management is the issue

there's something about us at the moment, we arent an honest, genuine team anymore, got a feeling we'll get a spanking that officially ends our season, hope im wrong

I don't think you're wrong, except I'd be surprised if our coaching staff (and at the very least the head coach) didn't have a significant amount of input into the list build - particularly given how long Bevo has been at the club.

My guess is it might also be pretty hard to get rucks on to this list if you're not drafting them. It's not exactly a ruckman's utopia down at WO.

But bottom line is we knew this would happen, rightly or wrongly. Bevo looks like he wants to play English as solo ruck with chopouts from non-rucks and hope the bleeding isn't too bad. I don't think it works, particularly not against teams who play two competent rucks in their side, but c'est la vie. As to your point, unless it's resolved in the offseason then I agree I think we're just stuck with it.

I think the problem is that it won't end our season, particularly if Freo get up tonight. We'll go into games against Geelong with a sliver of hope, and depending on other results probably the Freo game too.

We could get spanked by the dees and cats and will probably still be alive. If we somehow beat one of them we're potentially in the box seat if we can then win the last three, but I can't see it.

Bruce is an excellent forward and a terrible ruck so I guess added up that makes a decent ruck/forward.

English is the best ruck/forward on our list. He's also the best ruck on our list (at least around the ground).

Sweet is a terrible forward/ruck and a decent to adequate ruck.

This situation leaves our team better placed to have Sweet as a primary ruck with English playing ruck/forward.
This unfortunately will never happen.

We’re at that point in the season where I almost hope they flog us so we can finally be put out of our misery and stop teetering on the edge of the 8 with false promises.

It’s such a gross spot to be. Not a realistic chance at a premiership but still in a position where we can’t just concede and put all our promising kids in the lineup for the last few games for invaluable experience.

I just want it one way or the other and I know that’s not how it works.

I think going on where we are at right now, I’d prefer to get flogged so we have the opportunity to get Cleary, Bedendo, Buku and maybe even Darcy in for games in place of guys like O’Brien, Hunter & Hannan who occupy those rotating 18-22 man spots.
