I went to see the reserves to play down at Frankston where Berry was by far our best player followed by Ah Chee and Lester. This places Berry as a logical replacement for Zorko and Lester a replacement for Gardiner. The debate will be if Robinson gets replaced by Ah Chee. I reckon Fort will stay as the emergency because our best set up is when we keep our three tall forwards together.

What would be your take on stopping the midfeld? I feel that Petracca is down on last year and is probably playing through an injury but Oliver is still racking them up. Do we send Berry to him or feel that the team defense will be able to cover. Personally I feel we shut him down and send Berry to him.
My main focus would be more so in stopping Gawn from having such an impact. Oliver is a competitive animal putting it simply....imagine if we took him with our #2 draft pick instead of Schache back in the 2015 draft!!!! He and his family are all Lions supporters too. :sleepy: Not sure if Berry is right for following Oliver around or not. I also think Robbo might be a good tag for Petracca should his form improve and he stays in the 22.
I agree we probably need to shut Oliver down but also keep the other 3 on a very short leach.

Agree with everything there but one of the ways Oscar AND our onballers can dominate is by getting a positive tap in the middle and around the ground. Imho Oscar must be more proactive and positive in the ruck. Atm Oscar rucks to break even.....even with rucks that are way below his standard. I've banged on about this forever but Oscar continuously trails his opponent into the throw in contest and is forced to try to reach over his opponents shoulder to get some impact on the game. Result is a passive tap to their ruck and possible first use to their smalls. It's no wonder that Petracca, Oliver and co are doing so well because they've got a dominant ruck. Im sure the fortunes of our guys like Lyons would skyrocket if Oscar had a more dominating and aggressive mindset and tactic. I think this is why I've enjoyed the work of Fort so much. To me he seems to get more and cleaner tap to advantage than O.

Petracca is the much more dangerous player and teams are winning by sitting on him. Oliver does not have the hurt factor that Petracca has.
Oliver also hands it off to Petracca a lot
Like Neale does to Lyons for us.
I assume be stats somewhere disposals to players. Be interesting who kicks/handballs to who

You have a set against O and you want replace him with a 2nd ruck. I believe Oscar is fourth in hit out to advantage for the league. FYI.
Anyway when you live on a island of one you will never be surrounded by fools. They say.

no good he really does not have a good run of injuries
I found it difficult to believe that he fronted up last week but he was actually going better than he had for a few weeks. Maybe had a jab ?

Still he got poleaxed in the back the week before and you don't see him stay down like he did.

Surely this is a misstep by the Med Staff.

Just saying what it looks like from the outside.

Sounds like last week one was hip related and this was completely different.

Don't know the full story so I'm only surmising.

But he went down and stayed down like a sack of spuds. He was clearly in immense pain, Obviously too much pain to be jabbed up and got subbed off.

Find it hard to see him playing the next week. I thought they were both ribs. Knees into the back rib area.

That impacts everything.

One of the keys to their defence is Gawn dropping back into the hole . And marking it.
Probably their most important player I reckon.

Diz out for 4-5 weeks with a rib fracture and fluid on his lungs

I believe he is still in hospital. Might have got it today, but pretty serious injury.

Complete guess - Maybe a hairline type crack first week,. Then splintered and pierced the lung on Saturday and that's why there is fluid in the lung. Very painful - same type of pain as pneumonia.

No,no, I think Oscar just needs to find the form he had at other times of his career. I wouldn't replace O with Darcy. I just like the idea of the two of them playing together.

From an article, the AFL haven't weighed in on Melksham v May right? It seemingly was saying Melb are pretty confident they won't have any repurcussons against Melksham from the afl(no mention of actions against May).

Anyone know if there is any chance of any more penalties? (probably too late right) all done and dusted

Gawn awaiting scan results too I think I read so hmmm.

Either way if he plays he will be sore and not 100%, or missing it entirely.

Melbourne mids have been playing so aggressively attack sided that it has shown the last few weeks they are moving into position in attack expecting to get that ball. The lack of it is revealing some defensive issues. I don't think we can expect them to be so confident in it, and will be a hard fought slog either way. They won't want a 4th in a row.

I think it was Barassi who said never flirt with your form.

A full on punch up in full view of the public could be the lightning rod that makes them doubt themselves.

Here's hoping.

I have been impressed with our medical people over the last few years but the Darcy Gardner injury concerns me. With the scanning technology we have now even a very small crack in a rib should be diagnosed reasonable easily. They may have missed it and now Darcy will miss many games when we are a real chance.
Cannot afford slipups like this
