Generally in the past few seasons it seems that the players WC were considering delisting were played in the last 5 or so rounds- ie blayne wilson, ash smith, jacob brennan.
With the importance of Hawthorn and Freo games to remaining in the top 4, no one could be 'blooded' to play for their careers. Now its against WB- a shorter forward line- and our chance of being in top 4 is more secure maybe Simmo is giving Newman a chance to show why he deserves another contract, and they may do the same with Lucas (obviously Barrass is already secure). Its a little bit odd given finals are most important so why not give yourself everychance to win.
This explanation could be fairly accurate or the biggest pile of shit, but i guess for now we won't know.

Surely Yeo plays down back all game.

And surely Newman is our sub. No chance he plays a full match.

Newman's recall off patchy form is a bit of an old malthouse trick. He used to back the kids in quite a lot early on in his tenure.

ISWT.

So here it is. The culmination of Simmo's future innovation...

No tall defenders.

Soon the AFL will be revolutionised by having one Naitanui and 17 guys around 185cm on the field at all times.

That's exactly how we've structured up for much of the season. Must be an ex-Hawthorn thing????

Annoyed if this means Yeo plays down back. All I know about the WAFL regulars like Newman are the weekly stats and based on those he's neither getting a heap of the ball nor kicking goals, in fact his recent numbers are roughly equivalent to Karpany's. Strange selection. Maybe he'll be the sub?

We've certainly loaded up on midfielders. This game will be a running race.

Pretty damaging player though. Karpany has probably been playing to a similar level but Newman is probably just the safer bet for a big game like this. Will definitely be the sub.

Surely the Dogs will be tempted to play Tom Boyd now....

You won't have to wait long to find out...our VFL side plays in an hour.

Newmans taking Cripps place in the team. Cripps will be a late withdrawl for Barrass.

Eagles playing mind games. Having the WAFL bye this week helps them make last minute changes this week.

Well that's my oppinion.
