why? why play players that arent ready when we have ready made players playing the same position?

on your logic we should take a risk with 'fitzy' and gawn and cook all those other shit players we picked up this year.

ridiculous. blease wont play a game this year barring catastrophic injuries.

and stop posting on multiple accounts, or at least change your writing style with each different one
Pretty poor m8 to call our new draftees shite..i think cook will go ok,Blease is a MUST selection when he DESERVES one which would add more pace to our midfield.

As a west aussie very excited about this one. For the first time in a while i give us some kind of chance.

FB: Rivers - Frawley - Bartram
HB: Grimes - Garland - Tapscott
C: Trengove - Moloney - Bail
HF: Morton - Watts - Pettard
FF: Green - Jurrah - Wonaemirri
FOL: Jamar - Sylvia - Davey
INT: Gysberts - Jones - Martin
(SUB): Bennell

IN: Pettard. OUT: Dunn.

IMO, Morton and Sylvia will both need to play chunks of the game in the forward line as if Jack has another average game we are going to break down consistantly across the half forward and they can give another marking option.

Backline is really going to have its work cut out. Darling, Lynch and Kennedy will all need close attention and its rumoured that lecras will come up for the game (although i cant see it happening seeing as he didnt play in the WAFL in the weekend and i cant see them bringing him straight in when they've played decent foott recently by their standards).

As an afterthought, i would bring Bater and strauss across as emergencies (although bringing blease wouldnt do any harm - could easily be back for the VFL game)

the coaching staff has to consider bate, on the large ground he's got an enormous workrate and must be considered to replace dunn if dunn hasn't got a defensive role which i dont see wce having with waters out, they dont really have a rebound defender

so therefore maybe keep dunn in for another week purely as a forward and see how he goes or drop him for bater

love seeing the rednut dropping them from 50

Bate looked alright last game for scorpions

Same, no problems with his VFL form at all. Sadly not everyone who shows form can get a game.

He is really going to have to work for a spot.

He's a run and carry player who should be suited to a big ground. I don't think we have the midfield depth.

Ridiculous to think he couldn't get a game if he continues to play well in the VFL.

No need to get angry cos Jetta's a dud and not the star you thought he was, get over it.

Hurn's our rebounding defender, probably a good matchup for Dunn if he plays as a defensive forward.

Hurn is a very good rebounding defender! Dunn would probably have a shut down role on him. Can be very dangerous if left alone. I'd say he would play pretty tight on Hurn, and try and expose Hurn in the air when it comes down into our F50. Dunn has actually been ok so far this year. Was terrible against Hawthorn and struggled against Brisbane, but the two things he has an advantage over Bate and Watts, are that he can play a shut down role on a damaging defender, and he genuinely, strongly competes in the air.

Would be very surprised to see Bate play(did he even go over?). Needs to string a few very good games together at Casey. He seems in a fight for a spot with Petterd, Dunn, Watts, which I can only really find a spot for 2 of these guys right now.

Watts' work in the air this year has improved out of sight, he has taken 5 contested grabs and in round 1 against sydney alone he made 6 spoils, including a couple against mumford

being a bit harsh there

I think his spoils were good. In times past it would have been an almost uncontested mark to his opponent but that game agains the Swans showed he has improved his timing &if he can't take the mark will at least create a contested situation.

exactly right, which is what we need from him

I don't think so. There's a difference between competing, and strongly competing in the air. Watts still has a way to go in this area of his game. His confidence and his body shape is improving, but dunn can provide that strong body contest from the 1st minute of the game to the last. And I think he has been ok in this area so far this year.

Don't get me wrong, I think Watts is slowly improving in this aspect of the game. It doesn't come naturally to him, so he needs to learn about positioning and body contact. We don't have the luxury of a big strong bodied forward to bash and crash packs, so Dunn is having to do that role for us on a regular basis. Watts can't yet for different reasons. That's why for me, Dunn has to remain in the side....

I've also noticed on a couple of occasions some of Jack Watts 'basketball taps' where he jumps higher than the pack & palms the ball down to one of our free running players this has set up a couple of goals at least!
