Be a tragedy if Walters is out for an extended period but he has looked proppy for a while now & I agree with Seppo, best get him right now for the business end of the year. It would allow Crozier and extended run in his place. I for one believe Croz is capable of a lot more than he has shown and hopefully playing a few games succession and not as a sub he can find his high marking, goal kicking mojo.

Really ?? They will have tippet and Franklin in the same Forward line for the first time. I don't like that prospect.

I believe we can beat them but we will be the tester bunnies for their new forward line. And typically they have just started to find form

One win against an insipid Adelaide who are usually their bunnies, I'll wait a bit before declaring they're in any sort of ominous form. And playing them first up while those two are still trying to learn to play together seems like an advantage to me. We typically match up pretty well against Sydney too.

On the flipside we're usually Essendon's bunnies unfortunately.

Essendon have a much better midfield than Sydney IMO, and that's where we are struggling at the moment. We'll also have Fyfe back for the Sydney match.

Oh Fyfey back !! That's right that will help definaty.

It is certain though that what we do the next couple of weeks is so so important. I have a lot of faith in RTB and he will have a plan. This is why we recruited him.

But just remember Hawks finished first last year and Geelong second and they lost 3 and 4 games respectively. We have a very tough 6 weeks coming up with Essendon/ Sydney/Roos/WC/Port/ Geelong.

Can only afford to lose another couple of we want top spot.

Important month coming up for our club.

I have faith !!

I've missed somebody.

Greatly weakened side but still better than most we have fielded in our short existance.

Pretty much spot on ,Just add Tendai:)

FFS, in the blink of an eye we're seriously depleted after just 3 games... that's footy I s'pose.
As others have mentioned, better to get this stuff out of the way now rather than later in they year.

Essendon's not going to be easy at all, would be happy to scrape over the line by a point. No repeats of last year please.

This.

C. Pearce had an absolutely phenomenal weekend and I don't know why he hasn't been picked sooner this year. He can play Ibbotson's role in half-back, alternatively he can play as an inside mid and who can forget some of his long bombs from 55m into goal? Hannath must naturally make way for Clarke. Maybe swing Clarke and Sandi in forward like they used to? Don't know a great deal about Sylvia's form but feel he should get a crack by default.

I know people are saying we're looking 'depleted' but to be honest we've got fresh players coming into the side that were pencilled in by many as starting 22 players last year, and others who were looking at Sylvia to start in round 1.

Also the fact that Griffin returned and played the game out well is encouraging; he's another ruckmen who can play a variety of roles (who can forget his 3 goal demolition of the Suns last year)... and to think Kepler Bradley, another key forward who started playing some awesome footy at the start of last year might be returning the footy soon is great news.

It's not all bad people.

But a half fit Walters is better than the alternatives.

You know what I think they may have no choice but to play Simpson. Running out of options :(

The benefit like last year, is we will have lots of players coming back in the second half of the season. But with this hard run of games we have to be careful not to drop too far behind

I wouldnt mind giving simpson a run. Hell I wouldnt mind giving one of the young rookie KPFs a game too.

So Mayne is still not definitely out. I don't think he will play as it's a big risk to let it flare up.

But If he plays how does that affect the forward line thinking ? I think Sit resting ruckman at FF, Sylvia still comes in through half forward as we need the body strength, Crozier to a pocket and id still like to see Simpson as sub. Worth a try

Two things of interest this week, whether Mayne is named or not and if the selection committee and Ross thinks Clarke has done enough and is fit enough to come in for Hannath.

They may leave Mayne in the side and give him until the last minute to prove his fitness but I hope the more prudent course of action is followed.

At this stage I reckon

OUT: Ibbotson (inj) Walters (inj) Mayne (inj)
IN: Dawson Sylvia Pearce

If there are three forced changes I just have a feeling Clarke will get one more WAFL game before Hannath makes way for him. If Mayne is named then just two changes with Sylvia to be a possible late in on game day.

I still think even if Mayne plays Sylvia should come in. Clancee and Sylvia busting through packs is what we need

It was interesting to hear RTB on Ch 7 tonight mention that not only were Sylvia, Clarke & Pearce in the mix for this week but also Simpson & Morabito!

But then again it could be a bit of a smokescreen.

This :thumbsu:. Although I really don't want to see both Sheridan & Suban in the same team for this match, I can't see that working for us, problem is who else comes in? Is Simpson ready? Probably not, he still needs to perform for peel like he is now for a solid month at least.
