A flat feeling. Crowls was telling me he was happy keeping Mitchell to just 13 or so at halftime and they changed structures, broke the tag and he looked up in the screen and next minute he has 25 or so! I wasn't quite sure if that was intentional or he just got away from him. He also mentioned it was a weird feeling on the bus after the game.

Most of the players just had fun interacting with the kids down there and were probably trying to get over the loss.

I was at the game and he was clearly not right coming in to it. He ran at about 3/4 pace all evening and had no acceleration.

Been a bit off this year. Forward line looking average thus far, only Pav & Ballas are playing well. Lack of pre season is hurting Mayne.

Sigh lee spurr has been horrible all year. But who can take his place?

Spurr was one of our best last week against GC. I think it's going a bit overboard. When they pump it into their forward half 50 times in a half backmen are going to make some mistakes. Our real problem was in the midfield.

We smashed gold coast, like most of us I left the game **** a hoop, not even dreaming we would lose three key players out of it, convinced we would beat Hawthorn and Essendon would be a blip on our radar. Now it seems like we are underdogs going into this game. I don't want to lose to Essendon again at Subi.
As for the changes, impossible to say with all the injuries, and now I read Z Clarke is on report so even the most dog balls obvious move of Clarke for Hannath is in doubt. What a week.

The thing is, even if we lose to Essendon, it's not the end of the world...it's round 4. Round 4 out of 23.

We played these two teams in succession last year, lost both, and still finished 3rd.

Hopefully that provides a bit of perspective.

I'd agree with the above but Suban bothers me. Much of the same talk about how it'll be his year etc, but he gathers 10 disposals in a game which requires the next rung of midfielders to step up. In addition to the above, I'd drop Suban and bring in Sylvia. I just hope that Mayne, Walters and Duffield are over any niggles.

I also think that Simpson has the potential to make an awesome sub. His ability to hit the ball at pace when in traffic would give our team a nice injection of speed. And we always need 'injections of speed' when playing Essendon.

After watching Peel yesterday I can now say that Clancee, Dawson and Clarke will come in. Sylvia for Mayne or Sonny. A lot of changes I know.

Yeah after watching Peel I think Sylvia did enough to earn a debut, especially considering how desperate we are for some strong bodies in a pretty impotent looking midfield.

Clancee must be a definite in after that performance, both the Zac's too please.

Outs - don't care. Injuries and suspensions will probably take care of that for us.

They were switched on early and I agree lucky with some of the bounces and converted well. But for the rest of the game we were still playing poorly and aside from flashes if brilliance weren't that good IMO.

Our injuries before and during the match took a toll and the six day break and heavy track the week before really hurt us. We couldn't put any pressure on or finish any tackles and just looked tired and slow.

Don't get me wrong they are a great team but they did have significant outs and made quite a few mistakes on the night. We were so far off though and didn't convert so it masked that a bit.

Sylvia looked in good touch and showed a fair bit of class. Forgot to mention him on the aftermath thread. We need bigger bodies in the midfield and he and Clancee give us that. Morabito is tracking well but don't think he will come under consideration for another month or so.

I agree with those 3 bests by the way, and would put all 3 in for Essendon
