Are we absolutely sure Clarke will play, though? I know he was named on the field, but I was under the impression there were still doubts on his ability to run out a game.

There's certainly doubts in my mind. He was struggling to get from contest to contest last week in the WAFL game even before half time. His touch was really nice though and I think he's on the verge - but no doubt that he's still a bit off peak fitness. With so many forced changes, Hannath might get one more week before Clarke forces his way back in.

Edit: Having said that, Clarke's around the ground mobility would be a nice addition against a team with no real ruckman and coming from a game where we looked so slow and reactionary. If he's up for a full game at AFL level, then I'd like to see him in for sure.

I really want Tabs in, otherwise we're going to have an under-pressure second string midfield trying to hit a short forward line on the chest all night.

They're going to need some marking targets to use as a get out of jail card and we can't be bombing it to an outnumbered Pav every time.
Agreed. We'll need his run and pressure up forward too.

I don't reckon Feltcher will play. They probably don't need an extra tall

Fletcher is pretty comfortable playing on smalls and talls, and is a very good user of the ball. For a gangly bloke he's surprisingly quick and agile. If they want to give themselves their best chance of winning, I'd have thought they bring him over (unless he's carrying a niggle).

Agree. Hannath kept being beaten to the ball whenever it hit the deck in the loose. Not enough pace. Not a problem for Zac. And I think having Zac as backup to Sandi vs. Carlisle/Daniher tag team will provide them with more headaches than Hannath.

Anyone else reckon Leigh might've kicked Sandi in the guts to rile him up for a game against the Hawks' old enemy? Don't know why I didn't think of it earlier. Sly old pr!ck. ;)

Pity Carlisle and Daniher... a calm Sandi is a scary thing... a p!ssed off one is a different kettle of fish completely. Hopefully the game against Warnock last week has lulled them into a nice, optimistic state, and they think all they'll need to do is rinse and repeat.

Like your thinking but I've met Sandi a couple of times and he doesn't strike me as the sort that gets riled up by that sort of thing.

MDB to tag Goddard? Defensive forward role? I think we will plan to break even or lose the midfield duel so we will always have that extra man back. Slingshot will be on show so you will see tabs, Clarke and pav rotating the gut running up field

Ah well, I'll settle for an even more motivated Sandi then.

Though I do remember him bumping and monstering Maric and Goldstein throughout the whole game in a couple of dominant performances in his first games back from injury in 2012. In my own mind it looked like him proving a point. Whether he thought it or not I have no idea, but he was more physically aggressive than I've seen for a while.

Carlisle and daniher can run well. A battering in every ruck contest they attend could be handy to help slow them down a little.

De Boer tagged Watson last season I think.

Just at the clearances from memory. Kept Watson pretty quiet I think. Let the tag go in the last quarter (or part way through the third), possibly due to blowing up... and Watson subsequently went crazy.

I don't understand what game the Club is up to with not naming Silvagni as am injury and not naming his as a sub or emergency .

He wasn't named as an injury last week and as we now "Know" he is suffering hamstring tightness but for how long .

Regular fans must think something's up with his attitude or that RTB is being hard on him for some reason .
Its not fair to him that they are saying nothing and leaving it hang in the air .This is how rumours start

He didnt play last week - probably needs match practice.
Or Ross/match committee doesnt see him as being good enough.

I dont know what you've seen to rate Silvagni so highly. And im talking 2012 onwards.

No not that at all .I heard he's asked to be traded to Hawthorn or Geelong so he can get more games .
I like Silva's approach, but he's currently outside our best 25 and with the way Lyon likes to organise the defense he is depth against injury plain and simple.Admire his straight up tough, honest endeavour and commitment to the team cause. It's an issue we'll face increasingly as we strengthen the list season by season.
If he's going to request a trade he'd want to think about clubs other than those two though.
