will lose my shit if we play Schulz forward and westhoff fwd/ruck with no third option. memories of Cale Hookers 3000 intercept marks will come rushing back. theres just no way Butcher or Shaw don't come in. even if O'Shea and Clurey come in, who goes forward to cover Fletcher, Hooker and Hurley and thats assuming Carlisle goes forward.

I think the exact opposite. When Trengove went down last year it took 6 weeks to bring Hombsch in. Then we dropped Hombsch when Trengove was back. We've played 3 tall forwards in 10 of 38 games, and 2 ruckman in 9 of 38 games. We like to play small

We haven't had the choice to play taller. Butcher's form saw him dropped, Shaw had a wrist injury for the first half of the year and Harvey is still too raw. Redden has been injured all year and Renouf spend the early part of the year recovering from injury before yet another season ending injury.

Apart from loading up on KPDs in our 22 and playing Trengove as a permanent forward/ruck we just haven't had the luxury of tall options.

Nah. Ken's not Williams or Primus. I'm sure every coach is stubborn to a point but Ken isn't blinded by stubbornness the way some are. I think Shaw will play this week and be asked to pinch hit a bit in the ruck to cover for Trengove when the ball's in his area. Lobbe will need some help this week. Clurey in is a no brainer, and O'Shea will probably play as well. I reckon it's a toss up between Newton and Young to replace Mitchell.

Shaw for Sam Gray
Newton/Young for Mitchell.

this works for me.

play clurey on a tall. oshea can take the intercept marks. shaw in the forward line will release westhoff to float forward or back at his leisure. dropping back into holes when essendon are pushing forward.

newton or young in for mitchell should be a no brainer after the way our midfield suffered in the centre and with the bombers having some alright big bodied extractor mids.
